sure am. wasn't happy with the value i was getting out of butler, and needed roster spots. also, i think i look to future value/potential more than most other owners, so i value injured players and minor leaguers a lot more than other managers.
-
Sabr, are you aware Santana might not ever play this year?

I am a little hesitant to take on that much salary, but it really helps my offense. Still not sure if the team as it is right is competitive, but at least I have something to work with

Yeah, as weird as this trade looks, I can't do anything but vote for it. Makes sense for both teams.

Hey, Torii Hunter, Matt Joyce, Mitch Moreland, Ty Wigginton and Jacob McGee are now free agents! Go nominate them!
-
I've been in touch with support, and they indicate that you'll keep accumulating players if you're over the salary or player cap, and then be able to cut those players to get back under it. Hopefully you don't butt into both at once!
-
You might wind up at the same page, or your bids might fizzle. I would guess you'll have to cut players, but the players you just "won" would be eligible to cut as well. Who knows though.
-
Queen City, I assumed that I'd be able to go over the cap and have my stats frozen until I resolved it, which would give me the rest of the offseason. But I couldn't access any other pages until I cut players to get under the cap.
-
Ok, so after reading everyone's comments I'm thinking that if no one else bids on them, it's possible I will have a few auctions going after my roster is full. Is this going to be a problem? Am I going to be forced to make room for these players?
-
if you want a player who was dropped, go to the Waiver Claim link at the top of your team page.
-
dropped players = can't start an auction for them. duh.
-
I don't know if anyone has noticed, or if you guys have already discussed it - but there are some players who do not have an ottoneu card (mostly minor leaguers), and also some you can't create an auction for. has anyone encountered either issue?
-
I am looking to trade - I will update my trading block.
-
I need more players!! If anyone wants to free up cap space, make an offer. Looking for talent in pretty much every batter position. Have RP/SP to spare

I was well aware of that in the auction room, but I read those rules several times, and it doesn't say anything about that in the Add/Drop section. honestly, it's not that big of a deal. it's just a dollar.
-
I feel like its kind of implied that by nominating a player you're bidding 1$ on him. Just the in the live auction room.
-
i said right from the beginning that a league vote is certainly fine. and i started them with the intention of taking them, but i can make my team better with other players. this is still new for all of us, ya know.
-
Sabr, if the other members want to, I guess I'll remove him, but I don't understand why you started so many auctions for people you weren't bidding on.
-
Pillar, just noticed that I have Scott Baker on my team and I didn't bid on him. Any chance I could get him dropped off with no penalty?
-
On your team page, there's a new link to make a waiver claim. Found that by accident.
-
oh well, i guess it was worth asking. and now the rest of the league knows.
-
As commish, I can't remove cap penalties, but I can remove players without causing the team to incur them.
-
if we can't change an actual rule, can you do anything about the penalties for me and yourself and anyone else this may have affected?
-
i agree that i'd prefer $1 drops just to come completely off the books, but i'm less worried about that. can we vote about people getting stuck with their nominations without actually bidding? it's only $2 for me and wouldn't be much for anyone so far.
-
Well shit, I nominated a player just to see what time zone the times listed were in. You're right, the rules are blank on that. I also don't love that dropping $1 players has no cap benefit
-
there's one player i dropped just because i wanted a roster spot more than i wanted him, but i don't think i should have the cap penalty for vargas/hammel. i know for future reference now, but i shouldn't be penalized for an unclear rule.
-
so, i nominated a bunch of players and just found out the hard way that if nobody bids on a player, then he goes to the nominating team for $1. nowhere in the rules does it say that.

I like this auction business. Even though I lost on my one coin flip opportunity so far.
-
Wow, you go over the cap, you can't do ANYTHING until you cut players to get below.
-
If you don't have a full lineup, you don't get stats. However, keep nominating people and bidding $1 and eventually you'll have a full roster.
-
So, what happens if I can't add enough players to my roster by the time the season starts?

I'm ending voting: no new rule. You guys brought up a good point about how this is supposed to be similar to the real world.
-
Sorry, but I also vote to keep the rule as is. Especially since this league has a next year.

Queen, I assume the system will figure out who wins the "coin toss," especially because we could have 3- or 4-way ties. It sounds like the auction bids will not go through once you hit 40 players.
-
The way I told you guys to find someone to put up for auction was ass-backwards. Just search their name in the "Fantasy Player Search" box in the top left, then click "ottoneu card" instead of going to their profile.
-
We're at 2-1 against changing, so unless the remaining 8 come in wanting to change it, we're sticking with the rules as written. 60 Day DL spots still count against your salary cap, but not your 40-man limit.
-
And sorry, one more question: if I have 7 open spots and I bid on 10 guys and happen to win the first 7 that expire, are we assuming the next three bids will just be ignored, or will those go through and then I potentially have to drop someone I drafted?
-
Man it's a pain to look up players to bid on, esp minor league guys. When it says ties determined by coin flip, does that mean the commish has to literally execute coin flips for all these guys? Cuz there are sure to be lots of ties.
-
I also vote for keeping as is. I'd be nervous to start tinkering with their setup, which seems pretty sound. Plus we have plenty of roster spots and isn't there a 60 day DL?
-
i'm not a fan of that rule. that's not what actually happens in mlb, so i'd prefer to keep it as is.
-
Can't do it automatically, but it's pretty simple: email me that a player's out for the year, I verify and remove him from your team, make a note you dropped him.
-
That's fine by me, but can the website do that? Or would we have to manually keep track?

Proposed new rule: If a player is certifiably out for the season, he is able to be dropped without incurring the 50% cap penalty. The dropping manager wouldn't be allowed to pick up that player again until after that year. What do you guys think?
-
sorry about all of the auctions. need to fill out my roster!
