Just checked - all is well. Thanks again.
-
Cap penalties should be gone, you two who asked for it. Let me know if still a problem
-
Nishioka will be ready to go for the season.
-
Sorry for the delay, was out of town last weekend. I'm good with the plan and have no players I'm interested in dropping penalty free. Amazingly it worked out so that I had exactly 40 guys.
-
I'm asking because I'd prefer to play him day one, and was hoping to know if he really will have SS designation (I understand he's really only going to play 2B). No big deal either way, just asking.
-
On my team home page it says that Nishioka is a 2B/SS, but on the lineups page I can't insert him anywhere. I assume this is because he hasn't actually played any major league games and as such doesn't have positional qualification anywhere yet?
-
hey guys sorry i didn't get back involved sooner- i approve
-
Sabr - Ha! Do those improvements offset CarGo's regression?
-
If I get anything close to the 2009 versions of Greinke and Edwin, plus ~40 innings from Johan, I will be winning this league. Just so you all know.
-
8/12 with Fish so we're good to go. Message me the names of players you won because no one bid on them you'd like to be rid of, penalty free, and I'll do the rest. Deadline of Monday night, as I'm flying cross country Tuesday. Don't clutter board with it.
-
I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, but the chances are pretty good that I don't care. Godspeed!

I count 7/12: Skullet, Sabr, Pillar, Virgin, Orange, Regina, Pickoff. We have a majority, and nobody has objected.

so we're at 8/12 now?
-
If you look at the auction results on the auction page you can see what everyone bid. Check out Corey Luebke to see what it looks like with no bids.
-
The part about being able to check if any actual bids were put on players - this I'm not sure about. When I looked at the players that I nominated but did not bid on, I see that I won the auction for $1. Odd.
-
That's my understanding (as far as dropping your players, negating the penalty, and losing their $1 salary).
-
be no concern about foul play. How would this all work, though? I've got a full 40-man roster now. If those 4 players get added back, then dropped with no penalty, will I end up with $4 more budget and nothing else different?
-
There was no advantage at all by those players getting assigned to their nominating team. In fact, it was a disadvantage to both Skullet and myself. It can be easily checked to see if there were any actual bids put in on all the players, so there should
-
Yeah, sounds fair. It's to be expected that we're all learning how everything works, and it's not like they gained a big advantage by temporarily getting those bunch of guys on their team.
-
sure. fine by me.

We're at 6/12, so I'm going to propose my tentative implementation, subject to more agreement: unlimited drops, but only of players which you won due to no bidding. If you won by bidding $1, they're not eligible to drop. Sound fair?
-
Fine by me, including the retroactive drop/removal of cap penalties. As long as it's just this once.

Thats fine by me, as long as you're only dropping 1 dollar players you accidentally nominated in the 48 hour auctions.
-
Would we let people retroactively drop people they've already dropped by removing the cap penalties for them?
-
Virgin, I think that's a great idea. I'd like to hear from more group members, is anyone besides me, Sabr, Skullet, and Virgin checking this?
-
I'm ok with this obviously.
-
Maybe to be fair, every team gets to drop a limited number of $1 without the cap penalty, but it has to be done right now and won't be offered again. Thoughts?
-
I'm not that opposed to offering some sort of one-time amnesty where guys who were added by misunderstanding the nomination process can be removed without penalty.
-
Thanks Sabr.
-
I had to get under the cap/roster size before i could do anything other than cut people. you can't get off that page til you have a legal roster. same thing happened when someone else went over the cap. trades can be made after that.
-
... or another whether the $1 players I cut (the ones I did not bid upon) can be added back or not. Until I hear back yay/nay, I'll wait to do anything. Thanks.
-
It's my fault - I should have read all the messages here. I didn't bother to look back after my surgery and well... its my fault. One question - I can't get to the trade page to offer anything, how did you do that Sabr? Second, I'd like to know one way...
-
You're right though, I looked at your issue as a catch to auctions we didn't know about, and I looked at Skull's as him not getting the cap system, but they're really the same thing. I'll wait to hear what other people say. Hate roster spots reducing cap.
-
I'm fine with how I am now. Got into a bad spot a couple days ago, but tinkered and traded my way out of it. Cost me Billy Butler, basically.
-
Yeah, Sabr, just looked at your team, and you really are in basically the same situation. I would be willing to add those players back to your team and let you cut pricier players to actually help your cap, if that's what the league wants.
-
If there's consensus to let him fend for himself, I'll leave him be though.
-
Sabr, the special treatment I'm offering him is available to you too. If you want me to add a player you have a cap penalty for back to your team, I will. His mistake wasn't the nominating, but the cutting.
-
Nothing personal to Skullet, but I did the same thing and got no help/sympathy. His situation is worse than mine, but he also should have been aware of it since I posted all over the message board. He shouldn't get any special treatment if I didn't.
-
I'm tempted to add back the cut players to his roster and let him cut higher priced players to get under the cap, rather than force him to cut now with the cap penalties. I won't remove the players penalty free, though. Sound OK to you guys?
-
Skull is in some deep trouble here. He sent me an email explaining the same thing. Always know that if you cut a $1 player, you're going to be in a WORSE cap situation, due to need a dollar of room for each empty roster spot and the $1 cap penalty.
-
For instance, i just got a player who i nominated and decided not to bid on (I did this a handful of times) - do I lose the cap space even after dropping these players I never bid on? ($1 players) (apologies for stupidity!)
-
I should have read the message board more thoroughly.... I was unclear on what happens when you nominate someone for an auction and do not bid (or remove a bid you put in), and I'll be going over the roster and salary cap.
-
I really enjoy how there are so many factors to trades here: current talent, potential, salary, 40-player roster limit. Compared to other fantasy leagues I've played, this one sure makes me feel more like a real GM!

Just FYI I'm in FL all week and may not have a chance to respond to much. But yeah, I had a surplus at those 2 positions and wanted to get some cap space while acquiring another prospect. I agree that I will probably never veto a "good faith" trade.
-
my thought is to trust each others' judgment, but to be more cautious with knowledge. Maybe the trade was offered before news came out, and the other owner jumped on it, or something like that. But I won't be voting down any good-faith trades.
-
Objections are a tricky road to go down. I think so far all owners have proven that they have an idea what they are doing. That said, I was worried about my trade with virtually just salary moving.

I wasn't sure I'd vote against it if Sabr didn't know, but when he did it was an automatic approval

+1 to Skullet's comment.

Pillar, I was even honest (for some reason) and told Sabr about Santana.

in my opinion, in a league like this where we are all supposedly willing (not those who sign up on a whim and quit in june....) AND intelligent (i may not qualify here - ha), it is really hard to NOT approve any trade.
