It has not been a good last month to be part of the Mighty Nimrods roster - multiple concussions, bone contusion, oblique injury, TJ surgery on a position player, hamstring, back injury, pec strain, ankle sprain - and now Conforto needs surgery after injuring his shoulder on a swing. I should probably make sure all of my insurance is up-to-date.

Has there ever been a perfect game for more than nine innings?

Oh and he was sitting on my bench.
-
9 innings of no hit ball for Rich Hill (would have been perfect save an error in the 9th) then he losses the game by giving up a solo shot to the first batter in the 10th.

Four home runs? Really Gausman?

Apparently nobody on the Pittsburgh Pirates is using Adderall. As a long-suffering Pirate fan, part of me wishes they would start. Last time my Bucs won, I was 7 years old.

MLB tests for Adderall but does allow for medical exceptions. Chris Davis was busted and suspended a year or two ago and has gotten a medical clearance since then. Not sure who else in the league has one but Davis' use of Adderall falls in line with his increased production in Baltimore from 4 or 5 years ago.

That's an interesting thought. I wonder if there is any information on how many players are taking something like Adderall, or if there are ones that starting using it and have seen large improvements. It would probably be a hard thing for MLB to ban even if it does become more prevalent.

The way some players this year are having career years out of nowhere, makes me wonder. Smoak? Moustakas? Even Judge. I always thought that amphetamines were a very underrated performance enhancer. I wish I had them back in my football days in college. I've actually used them (legally, I have ADHD) in softball. It increases your concentration rate tremendously.

Zimmerman was a nifty $1 add for you. Amazing year from a veteran that no one even bothered to draft at the auction this year. His P/G is better than what everyone assumed was his peak back in 2009 and 2010.
-
Ryan Zimmerman - has not slugged .500 since 2010, but he is slugging .593(!) this year. Late career resurgence? Fly-ball-producing swing-plane change? Or something more sinister?

Winnetka, you are absolutely free to say anything you want. I am a huge proponent of free speech. And we are free to point out that you have been acting like a jerk for months. Unfortunately, I would not be surprised if Flint left the league, as he is free to do, because he got tired of listening to you. I would also not be surprised if some people are less active in this league because they get tired of you ridiculing them, others and their trades. Your choice if you want to change or not.
-
First of all, I liked Flint as well. How one couldn't? Secondly, the last comment about the trade was more of a tongue-in-cheek joke. More to do about how great of a run Stanton has had since the trade and how it has a lot to do with how Spa City is starting to run away w/ title. I do admit, my original comment I was a bit perturbed and I vented a little. It is interesting, this is just like what is going on in today's society, the squelching of free speech in order to preserve feelings.

I would just say that someone complaining about the trades of other teams all the time is just as sensitive if not more than someone calling them out for being a jerk, but that's just my opinion.

You seem to have a weird definition of the word sensitive, Winnetka.

Thank you Winnekta for doubling down and helping to prove my point.

Maybe we should create a safe space for sensitive owners like the Nimrods?

Boy... Gerritt Cole is just so much fun to watch as a Pirate fan! Anybody interested in Cole as an occasionally outstanding, usually frustrating SP who throws 100 mph and loves giving up HRs? He is available cheap.
-
Goodness Winnetka. Do you really need to be such a jerk? Flint seemed like a genuinely nice guy. It really gets tiresome having you complain about trades and ridicule other owners. The rest of us are here enjoying baseball and having some fun.
-
Maybe he quit from guilt by handing Spa City Stanton and Iglesias for Kyle Seager.

There is an East coast bias on virtually everything, especially the Yankees. I think Judge's first half was arguably historic, but I don't think he is nearly that great. I think Gleybor Torres is incredibly overrated and pales considerably to the likes of Lindor, Correa, Russell, Seager and all the rest of the young middle infielders. But I do admit, that the depth of the Yankees farm system is incredible. I'm not talking their 1-10, I'm referring to their 11-30.
-
True. I am going off Montgomery's major league numbers. I did not really know of him until this year. Sometimes I assume Yankee hype is always overblown. In the media up here, every Yankee either completely suck, or is amazingly awesome. So I tune out Yankee minor leaguers. Also, I hate the Yankees (except Judge of course... How could anybody hate Aaron Judge?).
-
1/2 year sample size and Montgomery is labeled as home run prone. His home run rate was pretty low all throughout the minors.
What I don't get, is why down the right field line is so short? It is 50 feet shorter down the line at Yankee Stadium than at Wrigley. Pretty ridiculous.

I was suprised you put a claim on Montgomery, you have enough innings and pitching.

Jordan Montgomery seems like a HR prone pitcher in a HR friendly ballpark. Yankee fans talk about him like the next Andy Pettite. What am I missing?
-
You couldn't have scored just 20 more points yesterday so I would have gotten the claim on J. Montgomery, Winnetka?
-
Only one Montgomery allowed per team.
-
Also, I will happily take Joey Votto back from you if you throw in a loan to cover how terrible he is.
-
Spa City Thoroughbreds's trade block has been updated!
-
Joey Votto???!!!! Really??? He was terrible the first half of last year, nobody wanted him at $40. His OPS was under .800 if I remember correctly. Evaluating that trade after the fact is Monday morning quarterbacking.
-
Mike Leake? I traded him for literally zero players. I got nothing back in that trade except for $5. Why is that a problem? In our other league, I made a ton of rebuilding trades. In this one, I made a bunch of all-in trades. My job sucks, so I make lots of ottoneu trades.
-
Seriously? Last year, Flint traded you Votto and Aroldis Chapman at keeper prices for way less than they were worth. And IIRC that happened early in the year too. Were you mad at him when he did that? Those guys are still on your roster. What am I missing here?
-
One more thing, how is Mike Leake doing?
-
I'm not blaming you, I just can't believe believe this trade. I find it outrageous that every year Flint feeds you his best players. And yes I agree, Stanton at $62 is too much for next year, not even close. but you gave up a pile of mediocrity. All that for Stanton, I'm fine with. But somehow you got him to throw in one of the best RP in baseball. This is all the time this afternoon I can vent about this as I'm busy at work, but this really bums me out. By the way Alonso sucks.
-
Seager is not a keeper at $20 and I know you wouldn't have kept him. And you forget about Iglesias?
-
I had other teams asking me for Carlos Carrasco, Alex Bregman and Freddy Freeman. I replied to everybody that 2 months of rental players just isn't worth players I rely on everyday, and that the players I had to spare were Alonso, Morrison, Zimmerman, Seager, Maeda, Matz, and a couple others. Stanton is worth maybe 75 to 100 pts, and Iglesias is my 6th best RP, so he is probably worth abt 40 pts. I thought you would see this as pretty reasonable.
-
Winnetka - I thought we both viewed 2 months of Stanton as being kind of an illusion in terms of being a major advantage. He is $62 - I would cut him at much less than that. I would have kept Seager at $20, and I love Alonso at $1. I am happy with the trade, but I don't think I bamboozled him. He gets a high quality 3B and 1B, a decent MI, and a decent SP for a player he would have to cut and can re-sign in February. I definitely would have made that trade if I had Flint's team.
-
OMG, once again Flint Tropics gets bamboozled by Spa City. "Kyle Seager is a top tier 3B" What does top tier mean? Top half? I guarantee Spa City was not planning on keeping Seager at $20.
-
Or maybe someone will give you another 100 innings as a wedding gift after you run out.
-
I am relying on your imminent wedding and honeymoon to throw you off your game, Squirrels. Hopefully your bride will distract you and you will forget to check your lineup the next couple weeks!
-
I better also be thrown into these considerations! With a little more offense or pitching on the Squirrels we could have a new league winner this year!
-
Says the guy who is about to win the league for the third time in four years. Spa City have you decided on a design yet for the 2017 pennant yet? I could get a head start and order some fabric.

Everybody considering trading your expensive players, please disregard Winnetka's need for SP and focus on my need for RP. Winnetka is a juggernaut that must be stopped.
