I am stuck home all day with 3 kids enjoying a Snow Day (i.e. I shoveled all morning while they drank cocoa and played games). I have nothing to do now but enjoy a nice Canadian Whiskey and relax. Is anybody else thinking of their 2020 Ottoneu teams? Let’s talk trades.
-
No interest in Wander Franco? There must be some trade talks going on around the league.
-
There is still time for everyone to change their arbitration so the Mighty Nimrods don't get hit with the maximum $33 allocation!
-
I’ll be back. I’ll be looking forward to the Hot Stove League this Fall, and I hope to see everybody back for the 2020 auction draft.
-
League owners - if anyone is NOT planning on returning next season, it would be helpful if you could let me know as soon as possible so we can begin looking for replacements before the arbitration deadline which is only 2 weeks away. Thanks.
-
Thanks fellas! Would have been nice to join the 20k club. Bah! Looking forward to a fun offseason

Congratulations to Maui!

Congratulations to Maui Tacos! A very impressive offensive season.

Congrats Maui!! You did a great job building your team, you deserve it.

Thank you! Hopefully, I avoid an epic collapse this weekend. I was nervous after losing Trout and then Yelich, but my reserves stepped it up!

CONGRATULATIONS to 2019 champions MAUI TACOS!
-
Yeah, it's over. Congratulations Maui Tacos on a great season. Your offense was particularly impressive. Your team never really slumped all year.
-
Nimrod only has 31 games left and no IP. He'd need better than 12.5 p/g and Tacos to go scoreless. Hate to say it, but it's over .... has been since Tacos jinxed me on September 1st! My team hasn't hit since
-
It has been a close, interesting race this year. Still not too late, but Nimrods if you are going to make a run you better do so now. 400 points in 3 days is a solid, but not insurmountable lead for the Tacos.
-
I would put my fandom up for bids, but I doubt any MLB teams would make an offer. Maybe I’ll see if eBay will let me start an auction. If a team would send a jersey, or maybe a signed baseball, I could be bought. One thing is certain - Pirates did not value my (or anyone’s) loyalty.
-
Spa, I went through a similar practice some years ago when I finally gave up on the Mariners. I followed them for a couple decades of being bad, but just got tired of them being boring and having no direction. I settled on the Rays because they were interesting, and it is fun to root against the Yankees and the Red Sox.
-
Would love to have you in the Red Sox fandom Spa!
-
I can live with you picking the Red Sox now that they fired Dombrowski. However, don't they have enough fans? I like the Rays idea (chance they could become the Expos!). I won't be a homer and suggest the Twins or Cubs, but how about the A's? Very small market, great history, a lot of success despite very small budget, also very bright near future.

I think I need to go with Red Sox. Rays and Jays are too new. I always disliked the AL because it is a new, upstart league compared to the NL. So I don’t think I can root for an expansion team like Toronto or Tampa. Not 100% sure, but leaning Sox. I am fuming mad at the Pirates for being such idiots, and not caring about their fans.
-
I like the Rays idea. I am considering the Red Sox and Blue Jays also. I’ll have a new team by Spring Training. Pirates are dead to me after 47 years.
-
How about the Rays? They need fans, in fact you could have them pretty much all to yourself. And you would get Meadows and Glasnow back. And if they start playing games in Montreal you'd be close enough to take some in, right? Sounds like a perfect fit to me.

I need a new favourite team.
-
I am very glad I traded Vasquez a couple weeks ago. What a dirtbag.
-
I know it is weak to change allegiance after 47 years as a Pirate Fan. But I can’t take it anymore. MLB needs relegation or contraction for teams like the Pirates.
-
I renounce my Pirates Fan status. What a disaster. Bad enough when Glasnow and Meadows immediately blossomed in Tampa and Archer fell apart. Almost final straw when they declined to trade Vasquez at the deadline. Final straw is today, when Vasquez officially lost all trade value.
-
Foul balls have not been kind to my hitters this past week

Doubt they'll go the full scale rebuild route. Still too talented for that next year and could easily wind up back in the playoffs with some bullpen help/positive regression next year. My guess is they'll give it a shot next year with minimal spending this offseason and then decide where to go from there at the deadline.

Would they trade Betts to start a rebuild? Would anyone pay much with only 1 year left on his contract? And will the Sox pay him $35M a year when he hits free agency? What would you do?
-
Still stuck with the Sale, Price, Rusney Castillo, Eovaldi, and Pedroia contracts. And a thin farm system.
-
They get out of the awful contracts with Panda and Hanley, and they shed $35M when Porcello, Nunez and Pearce leave this Winter.
-
I honestly have no idea... I have a baseball I got signed by Dombroski.
-
Dombrowski finally fired. He left the Sox with a title, a lot of long term debt, and a barren farm system. Any guesses as to what the Sox do this off season?
-
Team Name has been rollin rollin rollin the past 30 days - 3,700+ points. Wowsa

Trade deadline is almost here. If anybody is interested in players on my trade block, I am open to ideas.

Perhaps I should have benched Thor vs the Cubs!

So much for Jose Ramirez helping me make a run at the pennant.
-
Close pennant race this year. Should be interesting to watch.
-
Outbid by $2!! Sad day!
-
It is basically the same as an MLB team with a contract option that they can either choose to exercise or not.
-
Good point Spa!
-
I don’t have the cap space to bid on Sale, but I would be in on him if I could. You can carry him all winter to see if the prognosis gets better, and if not cut him penalty free in January.
-
The Sale auction should be a fun one. He would have been an interesting free agent auction next February. We are just having it now in August. Are you buying 150 innings of a possible ace? Or are you buying 10 innings before TJ?
-
Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone in this league for the absence of drama! Two of my leagues have had players saying they are quitting this week over what they have called bad trades. The trades seemed just fine to me - and only one was mine!

As we approach the trade deadline Nelson Cruz and Jose Ramirez (both of which have been fantastic over the last month) are both available.
-
I have to stop rebuilding and focus on 2020. Wander Franco is available (along with other prospects).
-
Unfortunately, July was brutal for the Nimrods just like in 2018. I went from about a 300 point lead and on pace for a 20K season to 500 points behind and now looking at a low 19K total.
-
My squad kind of went off this weekend. It was good to see!

Maui Tacos have been on an absolute tear lately. 220 points last night to bring their one week total to 1111.7! In just a week they increased their league lead by 299 points.
-
Damn Astros... Kyle Tucker has 30 HR and 24 SB in 100 games at AAA, and the Astros are so damn good at the MLB level they don’t have a spot for Tucker to play.
