I'd be interested in a new league from scratch too Spa and M's. Got nothing better to do.
-
Nimrods, you don't have that power to make unilateral moves, right Squirrels?
-
I would definitely be interested in a new league where we drafted from scratch.
-
I was just throwing out an idea for discussion. I like my team too. Don't worry, I am not planning to impose any such change unilaterally.
-
If enough people are interested, we could start a 2nd league where everybody could start with a clean slate. It’s only $20 - the draft alone is more than $20 worth of fun. Especially during a lengthy quarantine.
-
I agree with Philly. I spent too much time putting my team together to just throw all of my players away and re-draft. Owners who think we will have a 2020 season should trade prospects for 2020 value.
-
No thanks to idea of dumping all our players back into a redraft pool so we might squeeze a little fun out 2020. After working on building this team for a couple of years, I don't want to throw away the effort put into it. Not that it's some great team, but it is my team. But just like I don't want to give up my team, it's hard to give up on the idea that there will be a season, even though all evidence tells me even a mini season can't happen. Sad and scary times.
-
I think we will get some season. One idea I have been kicking around in my head for this league to consider - doing a complete redraft for the shortened season. Dump everyone back into the player pool and redraft. Some owners could take a swing at winning the 2020 shortened season. Others could decide to punt on 2020 and go after 2021. Might add some fun to a disappointing year.
-
What do you all think about the likelihood of a baseball season at this point? I am hoping for a half season. But my pessimism has me predicting no season at all.
-
It would get my vote as the best pitched game ever. Kerry Wood's stuff was absolutely filthy.

I’m not optimistic we will get a 2020 season. If anybody is interested in Vlad Jr. or Gleyber Torres, or anybody over $15 on my roster, I am open to trade ideas. Hopefully somebody is up for trade talks - there is no other outlet for sports this Spring.
-
Thanks - I missed that.
-
The minimum bid is half of the salary he was cut at.
-
He was cut at $23 not at $12.
-
Re Severino - that would make sense if the opening bid showed as $6. But for me, it says the minimum bid is $12... wondering why that would be?
-
The cap penalty will be gone once the bidding ends. So Winnetka will get his $12 back.
-
When a player is cut, half of his salary (rounded up) counts as a penalty to his former team. When somebody starts a bid on him as a free agent, the bidding automatically starts at half of his former salary.
-
Newbie question. I am wondering why Luis Severino is showing $12 minimum bid for Free Agent bid. Is that because his old salary was $12? or does that imply someone bid $12 on him currently?
-
Is anybody thinking about trades at all? Ottoneu seems to be shut down just like everything else.
-
I do think this is bad and as a country we are responding to this appropriately, but I think three months from now this will be mostly forgotten unless the House leadership wants to try to impeach the president over this since Russia and the Ukraine didn’t work.

If Opening day is May 1st, we will have sidestepped a major epidemic. I hope that we have baseball this season.
-
Any predictions about when opening day will be? I will guess May 1st.
-
I wish I had a season simulator like Diamond Mind. It would be fun to plug in all of our rosters and run a simulation to pass the time until the season is going to start. No baseball sucks!
-
We should have done so decades ago.

It is loooong past the time to rethink our economic relationship with Communist China.
-
All perpetrated by China. The Chinese Corona virus was created in a lab for biological warfare research.. It is time to rethink our economic relationship with them.
-
Spring Training and Opening Day are the best things about March. I can’t stand Wuhan Virus shut downs.
-
Per ESPN's Jeff Passan : After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.

My season is hanging in the balance of the health of Verlander and Sale right now...
-
If Verlander is hurt long term, after Clevinger, Carrasco, Canning, Severino, Sale, Snell, Paxton, Puk... there could be a seller’s market for healthy pitchers soon. AL contenders have lost a ton of high end talent. Not just pitchers - Betts, Judge, Stanton, Mancini. Teams like Marlins, Pirates, Mariners, Orioles should be marketing their veterans ASAP.
-
Someone got excited by Miggy's two homeruns today.
-
Nimrods, you are sort of right.
-
Spa and Winnetka - your prospect swap trade seems like one made completely out of boredom by 2 guys just waiting for the season to start. I thought about vetoing it just for my entertainment ;)

You can cut someone after you win the player. Just be aware you only get half the money back of whatever player you cut.
-
If I bid on a player in one of the ongoing auctions, how do I define who I am waiving? Does that occur after the auction winner is defined?
-
Sorry, I always forget I have to find the hidden button for ending the draft. It is done now.
-
Remember to end the draft. It does not end on its own even after we all leave the draft page. Trades and free agents are locked until the draft ends.
-
Sorry for the slow response, but the auction will start no later than 5 minutes late assuming no major technical difficulties. And, this league has never allowed skipping nominations. If you miss 2 nominations (again baring a technical snafu), your draft is over. No need to vote since this league (at least as long as I have been part of it) has been pretty straightforward on these issues.
-
Yeah, I second that Spa.

In my last draft (Winnetka, Philly and Squirrels are in the same league) the commissioners came up with a good policy - if a team skips 3 nominations, their draft is ended. I thought that worked well. Credit to Squirrels for the idea.
-
For the auction draft tomorrow - can we vite on a couple of issues that always arise in every draft: 1) start on time, and 2) no skipping nominations?
-
Visit the "Auction Draft" tab at the top of this page. I would suggest visiting the room before the draft and look around, set up your watch list.

With this being my first Ottoneu auction, do I just come to this site at the time of the auction?

Right on! Got one auction in the books already.
