Will the Anthony Rendon contract be worse for the Angels than the Pujols, Wells, Hamilton, Upton, Wilson and Blanton contracts? Does any team have a worse history than the Angels when it comes to free agent signings?
-
Btw, enough of my guys going down. Time for DeGrom and Gausman to spend some time on the IL.
-
I think the Dodgers will make a move, but do not need to. They have several pitchers who could up their work load significantly and Josiah Gray may be available soon. If I were them, I would wait till after the All Star break.
-
Dodgers’ chances will really take a hit if Kershaw needs surgery and Bauer gets suspended long term. What a 1-2 punch to their rotation. They have the depth to make some trades for pitching, but I’m not sure how to replace those guys.
-
I would like to see the Rays make a move. They have a ridiculous deep system with near major league ready arms that the Twins need. The Twins could kick in half of his salary, and I would rather do that. The Red Sox don't have a deep system at all.
-
The Red Sox are a mirage. The only chance they have is if Sale comes back and is his old self. Analyze that team on paper, you can't tell me that the Red Sox are a legitimate playoff team.
-
I would like to see the Red Sox pick up a 1B. Maybe even Donaldson and play him at 1B.
-
Anybody have trade deadline predictions? I think Donaldson makes sense for the Mets, and he shouldn’t cost much in players with his contract being somewhat above his market value.
-
I’m looking for multi-position bench players. I have too many prospects to stock a deep bench. If you have multi position players you aren’t planning to keep, maybe we can work out a deal?
-
Nice call on not starting Chapman and Nerris btw.
-
He had quite a few years with the Rays where he was really good at not giving up homeruns.
-
How in the hell has Alex Cobb only given up 3 home runs this year?
-
I hate when your hitter hits a homerun but it is off your pitcher so you still get negative points from the at bat.
-
Haha yeah that is fair, I probably shouldn't be complaining about anything right now.
-
It's hard to feel sorry for your RP performance when you got 170 points. Cry me a river
-
Both my starters destroy today, and then my two RP that pitch drop my p/ip by an entire 0.04 with 1.2 innings.
-
I don’t think league settings can change during the season. As far as ties going to the team that started the bid, I know there has always been talk about it but if memory serves Niv did not want to make that option available.
-
Is that something that is possible to change in Ottoneu? I would also love to have 24 hour bidding and ties go to the nominator. Probably not something we would want to change mid-season, but could be a consideration for next year?
-
I agree - I would prefer a 24 hour bidding period, and I wish ties went to the team that initiated the auction.
-
In favor of a 24 hour clock and the tie going to the team that nominated... if the team that nominated isn't involved in the tie then the lower in the standings works.

Thanks Winnetka I appreciate it! Been a super fun season so far going head to head with you. Totally agree on free agency. If you find someone you really want you better be willing to pay because there is no sneaking guys through.
-
What to make of that? Laziness? Boredom? I really wish we could go to a 24 hour or even a 12 hour clock. In addition, I feel very strongly about this: In the case of a tie in bidding, the winner should be the team that put out the initial bid.

Regarding free agency and prospects and such, it is tough to sneak anyone through nowadays. If I really like someone, I can't put four bids out there because there is so much cross ownership in the leagues that I am in. So what is one to do? Sometimes you get some really questionable bids as well. Let's say you want a RP where the pickings are slim. Then you get outbid by some owner that is not close to being in contention, where there was similar mediocre RPs available.
-
Thank you everyone for the acknowledgement and kind words. I don't know who is hotter though, Squirrels or Schwarber. Seriously though, Squirrels gets the midseason manager of the year through the four leagues that I am in.
-
Interesting, the guy in 1st on the Global Leaderboard is from a league I played in a few years back. Nice job being up there Winnetka and Squirrels!

Hmm I wonder if that is the same guy that is 2nd on the global leaderboard right now.
-
Some guy in League 153 who wins the league every year rostered him. I figured if they guy wants Cavali, I need to get on him.
-
And where did you get the Cade Cavalli idea from?
-
I thought I might sneak Cavalli, Langeliers and Kirk through…. And now somebody beat me to the punch nominating Gabe Moreno. You guys are up on your emerging prospects. Damn.
-
Kyle Schwarber: best leadoff hitter on the planet.
-
I didn’t see it. From what I hear, it would be hard to watch.
-
Did anyone else see that Josh Naylor collision? That was awful, not sure I've seen a player in that much pain very many times before.
-
Anyone else want to give superstars away for end of the year roster cuts?
-
Scherzer for Bassitt 🤣.
-
11 over the past 11 as well, I was just checking that out.
-
Man Schwarber is just red hot right now. 8 HRs in 6 games.
-
If you announce a player on your block or league message board and I offer nothing, You can trade him for a cucumber sandwich and I will not say a word.
-
That’s great because no one asked. Don’t be mad because you’re in second place now.
-
To each their own. I won't say anymore about what you got in return.
-
Wasn’t really a fire sale Winnetka. Only two teams left in contention so I looked thoroughly at both rosters and pinpointed who I wanted in my return for Betts and decided that taking a high risk/reward play with Lamet was my best option.
-
I think it is quite alright. I don't recall the owners of Bauer, Seager, Bryant, Machado, LeMahieu, and Harper ever checking with me when you traded for all of them 2 months ago.
-
I didn't know there was a fire sale on Betts. Scrubs maybe you should have checked with me and would have gotten a much better deal.
-
Hmm that is good to know. It definitely isn't something that benefits you very much so I think it is a strategy I will quit doing.
-
I personally find the strategy distasteful, and it makes me think less of the owner. Right or wrong, I can't help to feel that way. I personally only bid on players that I would be happy to acquire at that auction price.
-
Wouldn’t say it alienates everyone but it won’t make you any friends. I’d only do it sparingly myself.
-
I don't care to be honest. When I played years ago I used to hate the 30 day nominating your cuts to lower their salary... then I came around to it as just good strategy. I'm fine with it... manipulate your position in the standings to your advantage the best you can. For example I know being last right now could favor me in some auctions if there is a tie.

Wanted a quick thought from others. I've been told that bidding the minimum on every auction while in first is a cheap trick that alienates everyone. I never thought of it that way when others have done it and have seen it just as a smart strategy that anyone would do and it being a normal part of the game, but curious what others think as I don't want to be using cheap tricks that alienates players in the league.

Lefty Grove in 30-31: 59 wins, 9 losses… and 14 saves!
-
I think you also can't have this conversation without bringing up 1999-2000 Pedro Martinez. I think the best 2 season stretch of all time.
