Ah yes, the Chili Davis days. I remember there was much angst amongst Cubs nation during the 2018 season. He literally did not even last a year.

Chili Davis has had a horrible effect on hitters as well, but not injury-wise, he ruins their swings.

Rothschild is horrible. I live in Chicago and have been following Rothschild as well and 100% agree with you.

Also, is it just me or do pitcher injuries seem to follow Rothschild or what? Maybe it just seems that way since pitchers always seem to get hurt. Cubs, Yankees and now Padres seemed to have a lot of injuries under him.

You know it’s bad when it’s newsworthy your team is close to signing Arrieta. I’ve really enjoyed watching the Padres, one of the more exciting teams. But it hurt them not making a good to great SP addition or two at the deadline.

His stock has fallen so much. The Padres could really use even a reasonably effective 4th and 5th starter right now with their injuries. Gore must be going through such stress, having been a tier 1 prospect and now struggling just to be a viable AAA pitcher. I feel sorry for the guy. But I hope he gets back to where he was. TINSTAAPP strikes again.
-
The good thing is that Gore has brought his ERA down to 5.85 in AAA. It was in the 8's earlier this year
-
All the Padre pitcher injuries all year, and supposedly superstar “top” prospect McKenzie Gore is still at AAA. He is a bust. But I can’t bring myself to cut him. That’s “prospects” for you. They are super-valuable, untraceable, the next-big-thing… until they usually fade and disappoint. So much for my rebuilt pitching staff.
-
Agreed! MLB did a great job and couldn't have asked for a better game! It also got my wife to watch the movie for the first time!
-
That was a great event for MLB. I have mot watched as many games this year as usual, it watched every minute of the Field of Dreams game. My youngest is 12 - he now wants to watch the movie.
-
There’s savages in the cornfields tonight! What a 9th inning. That game couldn’t have gone any better for MLB. Instant classic.

There are quite a few differences but some of the main ones are things like underhand pitching, no gloves, a catch on 1 bounce is still an out (a catch on the fly is preferred & is dubbed a manly catch), instead of a batters box there is a horizontal line and you have to have one foot on each side of the line, batters can actually request a high or low pitch. Some of the bats even have a knob in the middle of the handle to keep your hands apart which helps direct hits to different fields

I tried to get tickets to the game for two years and couldn't. I wasn't willing to pay $1500 for a ticket. Otherwise I would be in Dyersville right now.
1870s style baseball sounds really cool. What are the main differences?
-
Anyone else excited for the Field of Dreams game? I live in Iowa so am pretty excited to watch. I also play in 1870's style baseball here and we might have a chance to play on that field at some point.

If anyone has any interest in Greinke I would move him for just about anything keepable but if not will probably cut him soon. Looks like he has a softer schedule to end the season and I don't see myself keeping him at $19 next year.

Man I love Brock Holt.
-
What do we have to do to get Brock Holt to be a two way player in Ottoneu? I think 31 mph pitches are going to be the next market inefficiency!

Yeah that is a bummer about Laureano, the effects will carry over into 2022 as well. At least the A’s got Marte at the deadline to help absorb the impact. I guess that doesn’t help the Detroit City Rockers as much though

Welcome to the new owner of Geoduck!

I heard Boras yesterday saying that Rocker is healthy and plans on beginning his professional career this year, presumably he was referring Rocker playing in some independent league.

“Fall” from grace. Stupid tiny keyboards!
-
What a call from grace for Kumar Rocker. A year ago he seemed like the obvious top draft pick. Then he fell to the Mets at #10. Now they say he won’t sign at all? He has a year of eligibility left, but I can’t imagine Vanderbilt will pay for his TJS or have the resources for his rehab.
-
What the heck happened to Cody Bellinger this year? Everybody goes through slumps, but his is getting ridiculous.
-
What a year for injuries. DeGrom and now Tatis Jr likely out for the season. The IL has claimed so many star players this year, not just 10 day stints.
-
Headline on mlbtr today, “Trevor Story confused by lack of trade.” The headline should add “as is everybody else!”
-
September 2022?
-
Ugh… News: Jacob deGrom has suffered a setback -- additional inflammation in his right arm. The Mets are shutting him down from throwing for two weeks, and he will require a ramp-up after that. September is now looking like a best-case scenario for deGrom's return.

I'm unfamiliar with the two they got for Bryant. But I agree, I think Cubs did alright on the Baez trade as well. I'm disappointed with the return for Rizzo and Bryant and was too focused on that.
-
I like the kid they got from the Mets and the 2 guys from the Yankees too.

Pretty sure Dombrowski values team's greens crews above their pitching prospects.
-
What the heck are the Phillies thinking. Spencer Howard for Kyle Gibson and Kennedy??!!!! UGH. Oh that's right, Dombrowski is the GM.
-
I thought they did good with the KB trade at first when it looked like they were getting Bart and Wade. Not as much of a fan of it for them when it is Canario and Kilian.
-
Overall, I think the Twins really came out well. I think they got good value for Cruz and great value for Berrios. On top of that, Gant has a pretty decent arm considering they gave up J.A. Happ which has been terrible.
-
That was the only trade I felt the Cubs did alright on. I would agree that Madrigal is a better MLB player than fantasy asset. Heur has a good arm and could be a valuable bullpen option.
-
Rockies are the dumbest organization in baseball.
-
Yeah what a great move for the Cubs. They get Kimbrel as basically a reclamation project he bounces back big and they flip him for a great return.
-
Codi Heuer and Nick Madrigal for Kimbrel! That is a great return for the Cubs. Heuer is a good pitcher - I could see him as a high value RP. Madrigal isn’t much of a fantasy asset, but he is a viable MI with years of team control. Kimbrel is having a great year, but is coming off 2 awful years, and let’s face it - he has been a bit lucky with his .201 BABIP.
-
Wearing my Cubs-Schwarber shirt at work today! Hoping they aren't done making moves.
-
You must be giddy that the Red Sox got Schwarber.
-
What a wild trade deadline so far, and we still have half a day left!
-
The Nats owe Scherzer $175m/5 years.
-
Funny thing with the Nats and Scherzer is that the Nats will pay Scherzer $15m/yr for 7 more years after this year.
-
I would not include those prospects if I was the Padres.
-
Scherzer to the Padres.
-
I would say "no" to the Turner Scherzer Strasburg deal.
-
Would any team trade for Trea Turner and Max Scherzer if they had to take Strasburg’s contract also?
-
The Padres-Rangers rumors have me wondering… If the Rangers (with almost no long term payroll commitments) took Hosmer, Myers, Profar and Kim (nearly 30% of the Padres’ payroll) and sent them Gallo, would the Padres agree to trade them CJ Abraham, McKenzie Gore, and Robert Hassell? Not likely to happen, but for the heck of it - at what point would the Padres completely monetize their farm system to pay off bad debt?
-
Should have at least picked Rendon to spend the $$ on. Stras was always the worst choice as pitcher with a bad injury history. I’m sure the angels wanted more but TOS is a good chance for career ended. Rendon still has time to do some good
