6 unearned runs
-
As much as I want to root for the Red Sox, they don’t deserve to make the playoffs. Up 7-1 against the Rays in the 2nd inning, on a day the Yankees lost, and they blow a lead like that! Choke artists.
-
"Loan Whale" that is pretty funny. We should request that one from Niv.

Man Castellanos owns JA Happ so bad (.519/.552/1.000 in 27 AB's) that the Card's gotta complain he was benefitting from a chipped bat? I'm no physics expert but don't understand how a chip at the end of your bat give you an unfair advantage especially when you're just barreling pitches left out over the plate.

There is a "Loan Shark" badge for getting $200 of incoming loans, but unfortunately no "Loan Whale" badge for anyone who doubles that number.
-
There should be a badge for that. It’s impressive that you collected enough talent to could trade to get loans of that size.
-
Well if I do nothing else this year I think I may have set a record for most salary cap of all time.

"When we don't get success, we're going to get booed. So they [the fans] are going to get booed when we get success." - Javy Báez.
“This is something that I’ve done in the past, against the other team. I did it in LA to the dugout. I might say something wrong about I was booing the fans, I really meant, like, to boo me now, not to the fans, but our dugout.” - Also Javy Báez 😆

Yes it was, May 15th 2018. Also made me think of Puig getting into a fight while on the Reds while actually not on the Reds anymore in 2019, different situation but still funny.

Was it Juan Soto who hit a homerun before his debut thanks to a suspended game?
-
So Javy Baez just scored the walkoff winning run right now for the Mets but per the history books on April 11th when he was on the Cubs and not the Mets roster? Pretty crazy how stuff works for suspended games completed months later.

Yeah they haven't officially shut him down yet, but I don't see why they would let him play at all this year. At most he will get a handful a games to end the year but I don't see even that happening at this point.
-
Yeah that is a bummer, sounds like he is close to a shutdown. Surprised a calf injury has kept him out like this but I guess it makes sense not to push a superstar when your team isn't going to the playoffs anyways.

-
Zac Veen, Henry Davis, Mackenzie Gore, and Austin Martin are all looking for new homes before the trade deadline.
-
Yeah the power doesn't seem to be coming through as much as it should and he just doesn't have a great hit tool which means he really needs the power. I like the lesser Mike Moustakas comparison.
-
I can’t see Nolan Jones becoming a big fantasy asset. I see him projecting out less than a Javier Baez or less than Mike Moustakas depending what approach Jones decides on. I used to really like him but now I see him as a low risk solid major leaguer with very little star potential.

Trade deadline is looming. Other than Winnetka and Squirrels, everybody is probably looking for future value. I have some prospects and low-$ players available if anybody likes them.
-
Your trades are a closer deal and it isn’t even close. Glad we have upstanding, respectable commissioners in this league 😊

Yeah I would 100% be frustrated if I were you Winnetka. I would definitely prefer either of your offers over the original trade.
-
Personally I would have preferred the trade you offered. Not really close imo. Graham always manages to pickup waiver wire guys and then get some haul for them that makes you shake your head. Don’t know how he does it
-
Wow, most of that stuff on side 1 is just noise. Thats a massive return for Garcia. Does seem a bit suspect.

A couple of other facts that may sway your opinions. The long-standing commissioner made the questionable offer to an owner who just took over a team. He is in a battle for first with me.

Pollock wheeler bryant are okay keepers but not great. Luis Garcia isn’t a scrap heap guy and could be best keeper; others on that side of the trade you can find similar risk reward plays without having to give up much. There should have been a better return for bryant wheeler Iglesias pollock - Maybe nobody offered better or seller didn’t shop enough
-
I agree - the team giving up Bryant is getting scrap heap players, and giving up All Star talent with a loan to cover salaries. It’s an absurd trade. The Bryant etc players probably have more 2022 value than the scrap heap guys.
-
Yeah looks like 6 guys that could basically be found off the waiver wire for 4 legitimate players that aren't even necessarily just rentals at those prices.
-
The team giving up Bryant+ isn’t getting nearly enough quality talent back

Yeah the Tatis homerun landed right in front of where we were sitting. 47 different players used in the game. No other game since the new extra innings rule had gone past the 13th.
-
I also saw the Dodgers pitching staff got 28 Padres hitters out in a row without a walk or a hit. So there was a perfect game + there in the middle of all that too!

Squirrels also has 26 fewer games remaining which cancels out the innings.

This thing is far from over! I think we are going to have a close race all the way to the end.
-
This is still a close race. Squirrels has 25 more innings remaining than Winnetka. If some of those innings go to DeGrom and if Trout and Mookie return for the last 20 games or so, this race should be fun to watch.
-
Totally agree on the Giants. It took me so long to believe that what they are doing is actually real and that they can maintain it. I still have a hard time believing they are actually this good.
-
The SF Giants may be the most surprising team I have ever witnessed over the course of a whole season. A veteran team to say the least, where the vast majority of them are having career years.

With a rotation that has perennial Cy Young contenders like Nick Pivetta, “E-Rod”, Garrett Richards, and Martin Perez, and All Stars like Kike Hernandez, Marwin Gonzalez, and the legendary Bobby Dalbec in the lineup… I am surprised the Red Sox ever lose a game 🤣
-
Meanwhile Nola has a perfect game going through six innings. Padres have exactly 0 hits in the past 11 innings that Musgrove has pitched.

Rough night for Boston. Losing at home to a really bad Texas team whose lineup has only two players with an OPS over .700. Now the Red Sox and the Mets are 6 1/2 games back. Was it just two or three weeks ago they were both in 1st place?

I’d love to swing a trade or 2 before the deadline. I would like to move Nola and Yelich for less expensive players. I would also trade prospects for 2022 value. Open to ideas.

The Chili Davis virus has hit the Mets team very hard as well. Lasted less than a year there as well.
