FWTBT has not logged in for a month and did not do his arbitration. I assume he isn’t returning. Does anybody object if we abandon his team and get a new owner onboard? The Shohei Kid didn’t do his arbitration, but he has logged in more recently, so maybe it makes sense to wait another week or so in case he is still playing but just forgot to allocate. What does everyone else think?
-
Hot Stove time is here. Who is looking to make some early deals?
-
Tampering encouraged. No need to wait till midnight!
-
The Ottoneu Hot Stove League begins at midnight!
-
Mot to mention leaving $20 million on the table.

Right? Coming off a huge season, on a team that won 107 games, hard to imagine retiring right now. I would have thought he was energized and set on winning one more title.
-
Posey retiring is shocking to me.

I have the 1991 World Series DVD set, that was such a classic Series, every game was good. Would have been awesome to be at game 7.

The last couple of days have changed my opinion of the Braves! I hope they finish off the Astros in game 5!
-
I was at game 7 in 1991. Some friends we knew from USA Today snuck us in with press passes. We sat behind homeplate 2nd deck across the aisle was Evander Holyfield. For those of you who may hot be familiar that was the Jack Morris/John Smoltz 1-0 10 innings.

I can’t find anybody on the Braves I don’t like - I just hate them for the back to back years they knocked the Bucs out of the playoffs back when they still had Bonds, VanSlyke, Bell, Drabek, Smiley et al
-
Haha, none of those things really bother me. I like red and blue uniforms (Cubs fan though), haven’t followed them enough to know about them being low down dirty. I grew up in the 90’s and watched them a good bit on TBS in addition to the Cubs on WGN. Really liked Andruw and Chipper Jones and that trio at the top of the rotation with Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.

As a (recovering) Pirates fan, I hate the Braves. They are low down, they’re dirty, they wear boring red and blue like every other damn team. They somehow are immune to stereotype team mascot controversy like the Indians (oops, “Guardians”). And Sid Bream still gets me mad.
-
I agree, I think and hope the Braves pull it off. They made some sneaky good trade acquisitions that have paid off big during this run (Rosario, Duvall, Pederson, etc).

I’m guessing Braves in 6 - mainly because it is so weird that the Braves won the NL in a year when their best player Acuna Jr missed half the year. I assumed they were in trouble when he got hurt but somehow they got better.
-
I hope everybody will be back next year. But if anybody knows they won’t be returning, please let us know so we can get new owners onboard with time to handle arbitration as they would like.
-
Not necessarily. The Rays pitcher could have been different. Even if not, the state of mind of the pitcher and the Red Sox batters would have not been the same. Maybe the Red Sox would have scored the runs, but maybe not.

Keep in mind the Sox scored 2 runs in the bottom of that inning, so Yandy scoring would not have made a difference.
-
Yeah I don't think it should have been a homerun, but Diaz should've scored 100% it doesn't make any sense why they sent him back to third.
-
Yeah the result of that play just “felt” wrong. Jomboy did a good breakdown of it and showed how the Rays benefited from a very similar play a few years ago. I guess they got it right according to the rules but maybe the rule should change to allow runners to advance another base based on where they were when it went out of play and the umps discretion?

That Kiermeyer hit should be called a home run. And on top of that Diaz has to go back to 3rd. WTF is going on?!!! The runner at the very least is us to the umpire's discretion.

A little late. Congratulations Winnetka on the championship. And an amazing runner up performance Squirrels.
-
I hope everybody is planning to return next year.

Beaty made some real nice plays at 1B last night. It was great to see Chris Taylor get the walk off. One of my favorite players in the league.

The great Gavin Lux will fill Muncy’s shoes.
-
They will definitely miss Muncy, but the Dodgers have so much depth. Guys that never play would be starting for half of the teams in the majors. Matt Beaty for one is a nice hitter, and the Dodgers still have some nice options on the bench. I think they are just fine without Kershaw. Now they don't feel obligated in throwing him out there as a 2 or 3.

Dodgers won’t have Max Muncy or Kershaw. They should be fine without them, having added Turner and Scherzer, but 8.4 WAR from Muncy and Kershaw is a lot to lose.
-
Hmm, not a betting person myself but would think LA or TB have a good chance. I also think the White Sox could be sneaky good if everyone was healthy the whole postseason. Brewers could go far with an elite top of the rotation but don't think they are as good as LA overall.

As someone from Chicago, I find that the baseball media bias is more slanted towards the Red Sox. Therefore the White Sox, Red Sox and Mets are at the bottom of my list.

I’m sorry your bet did not turn out well. But I thank God the Yankees did not win that game! I don’t care if the Sox win it all, as long as they knocked the Yankees out.
-
Thanks Misfit Toys! Who does everyone like for the WS? or better who do you like given these odds (from Bovada)
LA +350 SF +425 TB +500 CWS +700 Milw +700 NYY +1200 Atl +1300 Bost +1400 StL +1400
I put money on the NYY to win it all.

You know who else had a higher WAR than Betts? Kiké Hernandez!
-
Wow. I just looked them up. Buxton out-WARed Betts in half as many games. I’m sure when the Dodgers signed Betts to a $365M (!) contracts, they were hoping for WAR below 4 in year 1 (out of 12).
-
Who finished with a higher WaR this year, Betts or Buxton?

Congrats Winnetka! Amazing finish to the season! At the end of August he was projected for under 19,000 points and ended up breaking 20,000! Very impressive.
-
It seems safe to offer my congratulations to Winnetka. I’ll also say congratulations to Squirrels - absolutely fantastic season! Squirrels would have won a LOT of leagues with that season. Great year both of you!
-
Yes that would be correct. Nine homeruns in five games v. the Mets, and in one of those five games he had zero.
-
Is that nine home runs against the Mets in Schwarber's last five games?

Mookie is such a good dude. I'm not sure how you could not root for the guy.
-
Anyone else see Mookie Betts give an autographed bat to a fan who honored his request to throw a home run ball back for a rookie on the Reds who just got his first career hit/home run? Total class act, much respect for Mookie there and the fan for immediately giving up the ball when asked.

Paul Molitor used to get injured every year. Then he stopped getting injured. But some players just can’t ever seem to stay healthy. Sadly, Mike Trout is starting to seem that way. Last time he played a full season was 2016. I would love to see what a full, healthy season from Buxton looks like.
-
Sadly, Buxton will always be a tease. In 7 years, he has played more than 90 games one time.
-
Just watched Buxton's home run today 10 times. Love the stance, the swing, the lack of moving parts. Barely moves his front foot an inch or two. Generates a 445ft blast at 110mph. If he can stay healthy for a season, he will give Trout a run for mvp, that is if Trout can also stay healthy.

I have seen that happen over the years. It always gets fixed before the next day’s games start.

Mine is the same.

Anyone else’s “today’s stats” not updating? Hasn’t refreshed or updated on my end for a few hours now. Shows most of my guys with 1 PA and some games not even starting yet, not just this league either.

The inside the park HR should have been 2 errors. Verdugo Should have played it off the wall, and nobody backed him up. The SS had to go get the ball, and even then he bobbled it and made a bad throw. They deserve to miss the playoffs.
