Adley Rutschman could be yours also. Looking for SP or OF.
-
I’m not looking for superstars. But Ke’Bryan Hayes must be worth at least a pitcher with some upside. Maybe a prospect with a shot at reaching the majors mid-year? Or a pitcher with some excess value that you can’t fit in your budget?
-
Also if anyone is interested in an OF I'm looking to move either Stanton or Verdugo for either pitching or MI.
-
If anyone has interest in Castellanos, I would consider moving him for an ace.

I have 3 catchers and could spare 1 or 2 of them (Rutschman, Varsho, Ruiz). And I would trade Ke’Bryan Hayes and the great Julio Rodriguez. Like most teams, I’m mostly looking for pitching. But if the right deal is out there I’m always open to an interesting trade.
-
Willing to listen to offers on Bichette. I know many of you have asked about him. Send me a note/offer if interested.

It was kind of lame last year, bunch of owners who didn’t log in often, let trade offers just sit there without any response, just one of those leagues that needs a few new active, smart owners.
-
Wow, how come so many abandoned teams in that league?

Oops, it’s league 481.
-
There are some abandoned teams in League 482 “Best Coast League”. Anybody brave enough to take on a team that might need a rebuild?
-
I'm good on the draft date/time.
-
I think FWTBT reached out to Winnetka and said he is returning, just busy lately. I think he is planning to participate in ‘22.
-
What is the plan for vacating the non-active team? Would be much preferred to have an owner before cuts.

I need to cut like $80-$100. I can make some moves before it's the cut deadline

I hope everybody had a Merry 🎄 Christmas. Happy New Year to all of you as well!

I set the draft for the Sunday after the Super Bowl. We can change it if we need, but that gives everyone plenty of time to plan. I hate those dumb “doodle” polls, and I have no clue how to set one up. So I’m hoping we can make a plan without “doodle”. Please let me know what you think
of 2/20, maybe 7pm or 8pm.

Is anybody interested in Max Meyer?
-
Just my 2 cents of the lockout - the timing is great for MLB. No games, not even spring training is being missed. Fans aren’t missing a thing. Neither side really loses anything if this goes into March. Even if they both want to settle, no point in rushing. If you are the players and the owners make an offer now, wouldn’t you think the offer will get better when the season is about to start?
-
It is a hell of a college football conference championship weekend! Great games so far.
-
I predict the lockout will run all through the winter. Not much incentive for either side to concede much now. Why would the players give the owners what they want at this point? And why would the owners give an inch right now? This could be all winter.
-
Most likely you’re right. If it results in less service time manipulation and tanking, it will be worth it. The current system doesn’t incentivize owners to put the best players on the field. I think that sucks. Seems unlikely I’ll get that wish but that’s all I care about. How the millionaires and billionaires split the pot doesn’t matter to me.
-
Yeah I'm not overly concerned yet. I would've been more concerned if there weren't so many moves before the lockout. I won't really be worried until it's like February and they still haven't come to an agreement.
-
I have a bad feeling about this lockout. I think the season will start on time, but it will go down to the wire.

Yeah the E-Rod contract might be the best one so far, he would have to be pretty bad to not be worth 77/5.
-
Not a fan of Stroman. But he does seem to be reliably, slightly better than average. Way too much money for him, but the Cubs payroll is so low and they need some inning eaters just to get through the season. They have no chance of competing outside of battling the Pirates for last place. Boston would have been a good spot for him. The Erod signing is really looking good now for the Tigers. Some really bad contracts out there. Still can't get over the Seager contract.

I'm a big Stroman fan. I was hoping the Red Sox would sign him.

*Glad they aren't on the hook for the Seager contract

I could see an argument for it either way. Both Cobb & Wood were replacement level or worse in 2019 & 2020 & had pretty good years in 2021. Neither one of them have been consistently productive & healthy. I think the Cubs went for higher floor & durability over potentially slightly more upside but more risk. WAR is not the ultimate stats but as a general gauge Cobb has never had a 3 WAR season, Wood has had 1, Stro has had 5. Regardless, just glad they are

Stroman is a good pitcher. But for less than the Cubs are paying him, the Giants signed Alexes Wood and Cobb. I would rather have Cobb and Wood than just Stroman.
-
Really? I actually like it. If they're not competitive at least it's another durable pitcher that I think is enjoyable to watch and won't hamstring them since it's only 3 years at most. If they are competitive he is a mid rotation starter that can generally be counted on for solid innings. Averages a 3.5 WAR season. He doesn't have the most exciting stuff but generally gets a lot of groundballs and suppresses home runs pretty well.

I don't like Stroman to the Cubs 3yrs $71.

Lockout happening soon? What's going to come of it all?
-
I kind of think LAD, NYY, and BOS all stay fairly quiet this off-season.
-
Oh yes, the NY Mess are throwing money around. But nothing much yet from LAD, BOS or NYY.
-
The usual big spenders aren’t making much noise so far. Meanwhile, Seattle, Toronto, Texas and Detroit are making some moves. I have to imagine NYY is looking at Story and Correa, but looking at their existing payroll it’s hard to see them sign another $300M+ deal.
-
Yeah I’m surprised, it’s basically the Mookie Betts contract but two less years. I’d rather have Betts for the money. Definitely a very risky move by Texas. At least they’re going for it and spending money on the team but I have to think it could have been better spent. Theoretically they could have both Ray and Gausman for the next 5 years and still have over $100 million more leftover than they’re paying Seager for 10 years.

Yeah shortstops will always get paid. While I certainly think Seager could pay off for them, it seems like a real big risk and I am glad it isn't my team paying him 325/10. AL West has certainly gotten more interesting over the last week though!
-
Maybe Texas will sign Correa and Story also. They just committed $500M to 2 shortstops, what’s another $500M for a couple more?
-
Rangers had just signed a shortstop to a huge contract, and they felt it necessary to sign another shortstop to a much bigger contract. Weird choice. I think they will regret that contract before it is 3 years old. Mets fans regret the Lindor contract after just 1 year. Now I assume Correa and Boras are telling teams $325M is the starting point. Somebody will bite.
-
10/325 for Seager might be the dumbest contract I have ever seen. Seager has averaged 103 games over his last six years, .870 ops, and a below average fielder. Anyone want to bet that Buxton has a higher OPS over the next ten years than Seager?

Steve Cohen is fraud, mark my words: he will some day be exposed as such and will lose everything and will end up in prison. This angry spending spree further deepens my beliefs about him.

If anybody is looking to add another team, there are vacant teams in “The Sandlot” (league 15). We could use active owners.
-
I think that's reasonable if you wanted to abandon FWTBT since it's been that long and they missed arb, not sure of any owners in other leagues who might want a new team though. Also open to discussing deals if anyone wants to reach out with ideas.

FWTBT still has not logged in since the season ended. Is it time to find a new owner? I’ll assume he is too busy to have enough time to participate, or he has lost interest and hasn’t let us know. Does anybody know good team owners in other leagues who would take over the team?
-
Abrams went quickly. Next on the block, if anybody wants DJLM, Gleyber, Yoan, and/or Eddie Rosario, I would take any deal with any value at all. I need their cap space for pitching so they need to find new homes or go up for bidding in the draft.
-
CJ Abrams has demanded a trade. I’m looking to trade his future value for current value.
