I leave it to the league. I was not aware of that section of the rules, but I put the notation in there so that there would be full transparency. If the league does not want to allow it, I will certainly respect it

I mean, in this specific trade, who cares, right? $2 doesn't change anything. The greater issue is the precedent of allowing these. 1. it's obnoxious for the commissioner to track and enforce 2. it would likely evolve into much larger/meaningful swaps. Valuing loans properly is already a poorly understood quirk of ottoneu. That's likely exacerbated by allowing pre-draft loans. And as I understand it, this league already has a history of in-season loan shenanigans.
-
Ohp. My bad. All good. I'm fine letting the trade stand without $2 IOU. My apologies. I didn't mean to rock the boat.
-
It says: "f. Teams may not trade salary cap dollars between seasons." It's unambiguous.
-
I see a couple others have already voiced strong objections. I can't deal with this right this second, but if it's against the rules it will have to be disallowed.
-
A good and fair question. Our MO is pretty simple. So long as there's no collusion (NOT dragging world events into this...), additional things not strictly prohibited are fine.
That's the parameters we've had. But your question is definitely legit.
-
I completely agree. Never have had the issue come up. No IOU’s.

I haven't seen that come up before in this league. Seems harmless enough to me, but if anyone sees a problem please speak now.
-
IOUs are illegal between seasons. See section VII.f of Ottoneu Rules.
-
Uh, that's not ok. If offseason loans were allowed, they'd be coded into the platform. They are explicitly not allowed.
-
I'm not objecting, but I saw in the Redbirds/Naming Rights trade that they did an IOU. I approved the trade, in principal I don't think I care, I just wanted to see if that was 'a thing'.

Welcome to the four new owners. I am currently in the Dominican Republic with my wife. Don't be too upset with me if I'm quiet until Friday. My roster needs help on offense, so reach out if you have spare parts. Until Friday, bienvenidos!

Our four new owners donated a combined $1,258 to cancer-related causes, including the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the Skin Cancer Foundation, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Lauren Hill's Fight for a Cure, and St. Jude Children's Hospital). Awesome job everyone.

Hello all. I am a madman at times when it comes to trading. Everyone is available right now. Ping me on slack or gchat for the fastest and most in-depth response @damgagnon

And last but not least, please welcome David, who will be taking over SeaTac Sophisticates! All four of you were very generous with your donations, and we're thrilled to have you here. Each of you boasts an impressive track record of commitment and skill in fantasy baseball, and enthusiasm for the Screw Cancer cause. Welcome!

Howdy all. Excited to be here. I’ll be very active trying to work on this roster, so please feel free to message me anytime. There will never be any such thing as an “untouchable” player on my roster

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I'm excited to take the reins of this ludicrous team. I plan on getting up to speed on previous trades, transactions, etc. I'll be updating my trade block today as well. I'm always open to discussing trades, and given the tight turnaround before the keeper deadline I'm sorry if I spam you all a bit in an effort to sort things out. I appreciate you guys including me.

Sounds good Ben thanks for the update. I’m anxious to get them onboard ASAP so if there are trades to be made there is time to negotiate.

I think that makes sense. Would be good to give them at least a week to frantically work the phones. FanGraphs Staff 1 gave me 4 hours last year.
-
Just extended an offer to a fourth owner. As soon as we have our four guys, I was thinking I would send a group email with all four and give them a deadline to bid as much as they're willing to commit. It seems the simplest that way. If anyone objects or thinks another way is better, please let me know. They're anxious the get access to the teams ASAP so they can try to make trades before the deadline, and I am sympathetic to that request.
-
I vote for the simplest thing - and I do feel strongly about one roster - one owner.

It's administratively simpler if we bid for priority rather than per roster. Choice is yours though.
-
I don’t think there should be a minimum. A silent auction may generate a little more $ if guys are trying to guess how much the top franchises are worth. Maybe each new owner can silently bid on all four teams based on their perceived worth and then you can hand out the teams accordingly to the highest bidders.
-
I say we tell the new owners which four rosters are up for grabs. Then let them know that we thought it would be cool if they got to pick based on the amount of their donation. We're not trying to beat them up for their donations, so let's just say to them "familiarize yourself with the rosters then commit to a donation amount. Highest donation gets first choice and so on."
-
Once we have four new owners, which seems like it could happen in short order, does anyone have any thoughts about how we should go about organizing the competition for top donations? Should there be a minimum? Should it be a silent auction?
-
Thanks Brad for forwarding the applications. As you mentioned, two were very strong, so I formally extended offers to them to join the league. A third candidate is someone I know from another league. He's a strong, active owner who's willing to make a donation. So we essentially have three spots down and just one to go. I would like to see if we get more applications from people with an Ottoneu background before we offer the remaining spot to the two who don't have any Ottoneu experience.
-
Thanks, Gedman. Dave indicated that you were not returning, so we are in the process of finding a replacement. Enjoy Europe and thanks for being a strong member of this league. Good luck!
-
hey all, just checking in with the updates. with the changes to his life, dave may not have passed along the fact that I've moved to europe and will not participating in the league. Sorry for the late notice, but this account was tied to my old business email and I didn't receive the updates. Good luck with everything! Thank you.

I forwarded 4 applications to Ben. I think 2 are easy accepts. Perhaps we ask the 2 weaker applicants to share a roster? If whoever had a candidate still has that candidate, that makes 4 new teams worth. I'll leave it up to Ben to contact the prospective new owners with whatever he decides.
