he's going to be put on 60 DL on ihis own, you don,t have to do nothing. For example - You will have 40/41 (41 st being Diaz), nothing you can do about the money, still counts, season starts the money is still attached to Diaz (you can cut him then and get a penalty for half his salary), spot freed up in a way because you will be able to take a player from waivers, auctions or trade and get to 41/41, hope it's clear for you
-
So I want to make sure I am understanding correctly. If I move Diaz to the 60 day IL, he still counts towards my player limit and available pool money for the auction, but once the season starts the money and roster spot will be freed up
-
I was excited for this draft but if Edwin Diaz is out for the season I will be significantly less excited
-
Sounds good!

OK that's enough confirmation votes to make that draft day official. Hope to see everyone there.

I have tentatively set the draft date for Friday, March 24 at 8pm EST. Now is the time to tell me if this does not work for you, and if so, a potential replacement date.
-
I am free all of March.

Note, Commish would need to set it up, to use that app.

This is an app we used that worked pretty well in zeroing in on a draft date from another league I'm in: https://whenisgood.net/

Are we going to pick a day for auction soon? I'd like to join another league but don't want to have a conflict with drafts...Thanks!

If you click on Auction from the league page and then click on "Best Free Agents" the Find Players box will populate with all the "best" FA's at a position. It will also list the RFA's and which team that player came from.

Yes, they show as FA's to be drafted during the auction. For the new owners, within your Team listing you might have a single player whose salary is confined within a white box. This guy is actually a restricted free agent and will very likely be introduced for bidding in the auction. If you, as owner of the restricted FA, win the player, his salary will be set $5 less than what you won him for. If you don't have a player with white box, the previous owner probably cut him.

Will the players that were voted off just appear as free agents during auction draft? I ask as if you search FA list they do not show up...

yep
-
When i put players on my watchlist that carries over to the auction correct?
-
You have ~$200 for 15 open spots... I think you'll be fine. Just don't bid on Julio - commissioner's order.
-
Well sheesh, now I'm questioning if I was ruthless enough with my cuts! One other thing to keep in mind is that the off-season player averages are not consistent with post-draft averages. There is some natural FOMO inflation built in to the draft, so marquee names will go for a bit higher than what they are "worth" based on their surplus value. Sometimes it's worth it to pay for studs and fill out the roster w/ high ceiling scrubs though!

Yeah there were definitely a couple i was on the fence with cutting but didn't. Good learning experience for sure and I feel good with my team
-
Not saying that to call him out just amplifying what commish said. You definitely want to focus on surplus value and having as much cap space as you can for the draft. The high end players who were cut will go for more than you would ever expect in the draft.

Honestly Wright Way cut down to 8 players and I still think he kept one too many.

It's all about resource management. Is it really worth keeping four catchers or Wong/Espinal at any price? Because this is a vote-off arbitration league, you know there will be at least 12 superstars available every draft and you'll want money to try to get one or two of them. If it were me running your team, I'd cut well over half the roster.
-
Hey thanks everyone for the warm welcome it is much appreciated! Excited to be here.
Commish, thanks for the advice. I am new to all of this. Thanks too for the round of cuts.
Open to any advice. Haven't played fantasy of any type in a good while so I'm not sure where to start. I'll go look up some resources for advice as well.
Quick question: it seems the best way to go is to hold on to a core of players I like, just cut the rest and then head into the d

Depends on your team and what you're trying to accomplish in a given year. There are years I have spent all $400 at the draft and some years I'm clearly rebuilding where I have more money left over. There's really no right answer.
-
How much should you recommend we save for in season signings? I think I've seen a few FanGraphs articles mention 10-15
-
Haha i did consider cutting the entire squad and going fresh but cant cut Mike Trout at a decent price!
-
Also, new MM, because you're new, I'm gonna give you another round of penalty-free cuts. Just some friendly advice - you're going to want to cut more guys to free up some cap space/eliminate dead weight. If you don't want to, no big deal, just making it an option. (I'd do the same for the other new guy, Wright Way, but he has like six guys on his roster lol)
-
Welcome new MM owner! Any questions/concerns/whatever feel free to ask. Also feel free to change your team name in the settings. Now that we're all here, it's time to figure out a draft day. Usually a Friday night (8-9pm EST) shortly before the MLB season ends is how we do it. Opening Day is Thursday March 30 so maybe we can draft 3/24?

Hey everyone, glad to be here. I am new to ottoneu, looking forward to having some fun. Have been playing a bunch of OOTP the last couple of years.

It only counts players in the active lineup.

For the 1500 inning limit rule, is this being evaluated based on appearances made while in starting lineup or does it also include when the player is on the bench?
-
Interesting well i look forward to see how our draft goes then
-
These mock draft #s are interesting and may be more representative of what you can expect to pay for players in a start up specifically. For instance the median for Brandon Nimmo on his player page is $14.47 while his avg. # in the mocks is $22.80. I just took part in a $100 startup and he went for $24....assuming I'm looking at these #s right, auction prices seem to differ in a start up vs. an existing league.

Also, if you click on a player's name, it'll show their average/median salary for all leagues and FG pts (which is us). If you scroll to the bottom, it'll show you trades that player was involved in with other leagues, where you can see what that player is worth to that league. It's clunky and not exactly a database, but it'll give you some price help.

Is there a database for historical Ottoneu average auction values? Kind of want to get a feel for what types of players get what amount of money

Welcome David/Wright Way. Feel free to reach out with Q's. It's a really fun fantasy baseball format but it takes time to understand all the little quirks.
