Heyward has not worked out as the Cubs had hoped either. But they won the title with him. If you have a roster spot free, I think Heyward deserves it. Heyward would be hurt if he found out he was cut by a team named after him :)
-
Haha. Yea, Heyward didn't exactly pan out like I'd hoped... I'm not real sure how my team has done so well in the second half, maybe it has a lot to do with my pitching staff? And it's definitely not over, my lead was close to 400 points a few days ago and is down to 220 now. I just wish I could give my team a pep talk to finish strong, haha. Is it too late to trade for Freeman or Trout?

Isn't there a penalty for being named after a player he cut? Heyward was cut months ago.
-
Actually, if Heyward holds on it'll be even more of an impressive come-from-behind victory. I had a good team and a pretty big lead over everyone in June, and thought i was going to run away with it. But kudos to Heyward, he just went for it and has been dominating ever since. Seriously: look at Heyward on the points per day graph from about 5/20 to present - it just keeps going up (apart from the all star break). He's been unstoppable.

Interesting pennant race. Steam Donkey and Carry On both have 74 more innings left to pitch, with Carry On up by 220 points. That is not an insurmountable lead, but it would be an impressive come-from-behind victory if Steam Donkey pulls it off.
-
I am shopping Freddy Freeman in case anybody is interested in pre-deadline deals. Mainly looking for pitching, but with a team like mine I need to be open to different ideas.
-
Looking to make some moves before the deadline. Sale, Bumgarner, or Arenado are all available. Looking to move one of them to clear some cap space. Looking for 10 dollar or less keeper quailty players in return. Send offers if interested.

I had to declare Todd Packer's team as abandoned, as he hasn't logged in here in two months. He's been a good owner for a number of years, but hasn't responded to any messages or anything since June. Hopefully we can find a new owner soon who will be more active.

I've gotten several inquiries on Berrios over the last few weeks. I had shot everyone down, but now am reconsidering trading him if I can get a good return to help me this year. Shoot me an offer or message if you're interested.

I appreciate that the conversation went from getting ugly to humorous and back to a good productive talk, especially Blundering's post. I think the decision for to veto the trade would be more of giving a 'mulligan' or possibly a 'try again' to Adirondack from the standpoint that he is new to the league and this trade isn't in line with how the league has previously valued those players. But it isn't that big of a deal and it sure doesn't "kill the league" if it went through.
-
Still and all... I would never keep Lindor at $34 next year or Bryant at $61, and I would rather carry Barreto and Dahl at their prices than Ozuna and Marte. So this seems fine to me. And I guarantee I would have my team competing by next season. But it's not worth killing a league other people were enjoying. I apologize. And I did not mean to bristle too much at the rape jokes - I get that not everybody finds them as distasteful as I did. I was a jerk in my response.
-
Personally, I only veto trades when there's obvious collusion. Unless CR paid ten bucks for the abandoned team, which would be the most pathetic thing ever, I don't think there's any malfeasance here. While I think the trade is insane and possibly the most one-sided deal in league history on the surface, we're all adults here, presumably, so I voted for it to pass.
-
Consensus is against veto. The punishment is being made fun of by other managers apparently.

Please just veto the trade. I won't take it personally, and it's completely fine. I have won ottoneu leagues in the past, and I am leading 2 of them now, so I know how to keep teams competitive and how to rebuild quickly. Sometimes you over-pay to get players you like who you think are under-valued. But the last thing I want to do is mess up a league other people are enjoying. It's your league, not mine, and I don't want to ruin it.
-
I'm definitely drinking, but I resent all strangely sexual charges. I'm willing to give up cheap, unproven players with high ceiling for overpriced stars since I inherited a team with very low overall salary. Seems like a normal way for the league to re-balance.

A person can't legally give consent if under the influence of substances. The imbalance in the trade does suggest the possibility that alcohol or other substances were involved

Since both parties apparently consented, I don't think we could convict on rape, but we might could go for a misdemeanor sexual assault charge, assuming we can agree on which owner was the victim. If you are playing for the long term, you don't give up future stars for a one year shot at finishing 1st. I turned down a similar offer for Ian Happ and I'm glad now I did because I couldn't handle another A felony on my record.

Fair enough I am willing to go with whatever the consensus is on the deal. Like I said I never veto so I likely won't now but man that trade is ugly, like I grew up in Chernobyl ugly.

i thought it was a bad trade, but clearly not collusion - which to me means clearly no veto. I welcome the competition!

It took me half the year to move Rizzo due to his price but in the end a deal materialised.

I get you are only thinking of next year but that deal short changes your potential rebuild significantly. I have to believe if you waited a little you could get better offers.

The loan isn't the issue. Kershaw had that loan attached because a mistake during the draft left him with a ridiculous value. We didn't actually bid him up to 125
Baby Pfaadt on

Agreed. But nobody else wanted them. I like Barreto and Dahl for next year. But i take no offense at a veto. Kershaw plus more than $100 went through so it seemed like that was sort of how this league goes. I am only interested in players I like next year.
-
I am tempted to veto and I never ever feel that way. It isn't collusion but it is incredibly poor asset management. Arguably every single player Adirondack gave up should command in trade what was offered for the group.

I didn't think someone would be so sensative to that word in a fantasy baseball league. That being said you can tell how seriously I take fantasy baseball by the performance of my team.

Rape is such an extreme word - it seems odd that a trade in fantasy baseball, no matter how lopsided you find it, would bring that word to your mind. But everybody is different, and I suspect you take fantasy baseball much more seriously than I ever could. Rape victims probably would not think "rape" no matter how lopsided a fantasy baseball trade was. C'est la vie.

I'll answer the call. I have the best kind of problem to have, my team is playing so well that I have to pivot and play for this year. We'll see if they can keep it up. I'm a potential buyer for anyone that's selling. I'll update my trade block.

Has everybody conceded the league to Steam Donkey this early in the season? If anybody wants to add Lindor, Machado, Kris Bryant, Wil Myers, Puig, Marcel Ozuna, etc, feel free to reach out to me. Trade negotiations are the best part of this game.
