Also it is just my perception but it seemed like you were taking on salary and giving up the best player which isn't usually ideal.

Sorry not Todd not saying you have to explain the deal. Was just hoping to get a clearer understanding. Especially because you are taking on a ton of salary and you are already over the cap.

I get the deal from your end. It is not Todd's thought process I am curious about and am hoping to hear. By my eyes the deal is badly slanted against him.

Not entirely sure I need to explain a deal, however I was going to have to cut some players regardless so I made a deal in which I got players I wanted while giving up players Iād likelu cut anyway given constraints.
-
Also, it started with me asking about Dickerson and Urias, so that's how they got in the deal.
-
Sure. I don't want to speak too much for Not Todd Packer, but my understanding of our dialogue was that he wanted Dozier and to move Betts. I wanted Strasburg and to move Kershaw. So that was the deal that we agreed to in order to make all of that happen.
-
Any chance not Todd and carry on could comment on the trade in the message board? I for one am baffled and trying to get a better sense before I vote.

Just for an explanation to the league: Pinetar messaged me right after accepting my trade that he inadvertently accepted. The comment that he put on the trade also made it clear that he intended to reject the offer instead of accept. So we agreed to just trade the players back since he never intended to accept my offer.

I'm pleased to report that all 12 teams have voted in arbitration, which is the first time since the league's inception in 2012 that this has happened. I'm hoping we can continue to have 100% records for drafting and team upkeep during the long season.
-
Welcome! I was hoping whoever took over that team would join in time to arb vote. Please feel free to change your team name to reflect new ownership. In fact, I insist based on the awfulness of that name.
-
welcome!
-
hey everyone I just took over this team and got the arb voting in. I hope i didnt step on any toes but I wanted to get it done before the deadline. Looking forward to a fun season!
-
Welcome to the new owner of Adirondack Mountaineers! Feel free to change your team name so we don't confuse you with the guy who abandoned his team. Also, there are only a few days left for arbitration voting, so get on that if you haven't yet. The teams who haven't voted: Waiver Wire Studs, Pinetar n chew, Steam Donkey. Still looking for a new owner for Todd Packer, who needs to vote as well if we can find someone in time.
-
i agree we should put the players back on Adirondack. I won't push 5MiLB too hard - but after the initial draft there's very little management required. It can definitely be added to existing leagues - the first 5MiLB draft would be after the regular auction next spring, so any potential 5MiLB targets would have been passed over in the auction. Here's the google doc from one of my leagues as an example:

Agree with players back. New to the game but vote-off seems like more fun? That's all I got.

Yea, put the players back. Also I fine with Vote-off since most of you prefer it. I was just trying to figure out which of my leagues said the were switching before I started thinking about roster decisions
-
I don't think the 5MiLB is actually part of Ottoneu, it's just an "add-on" that is run in a Google Doc. Here's a link from a Community thread that talks a little about it and provides the spreadsheets: http://community.ottoneu.com/t/5milb-system-for-already-existing-league/686.
I'd be for adding it, but it is more work for the commissioner. Unless I'm missing something, he'd have to manually track the prospects owned in 5MiLB spreadsheet and add them to a roster once they get calle
-
I prefer vote off also but willing to put it to a vote. Fine with putting the players back

I don't have a strong preference either way on arbitration, but probably lean towards allocation. I don't know if any other teams care, but I'd vote that it be implemented for next offseason instead of this one if we do change. The vote-off system may have been a driver in people trading some players away this season...
And i'm fine with putting the cut players back, I think that's a good idea.
-
Adirondack Mountaineers just cut a bunch of guys, then abandoned his team. I'm considering putting those players back on his roster in case the future new owner wants to keep them. Anyone against this?
-
I'm willing to consider switching to allocation arbitration if there is majority support for it, but I'm a big fan of the vote-off system. It's what makes Ottoneu unique and I enjoy spending way too much time analyzing everyone's rosters to pick the right guy to vote off. As for 5MiLB, I'm a fan, but as discussed in the past, you can only incorporate that into brand new Ottoneu leagues. If there's a way to set that up with existing leagues in a way that isn't a ton of work, let me know.
-
We haven't discussed changing arbitration but I am fine with a discussion and majority vote if people want.

I don't recall if we discussed it, but I for one prefer allocation. Also, if we're talking rules changes for 2018 I'd push for adding the 5MiLB system - I did it in 2 other leagues this year for the first time, it was a lot of fun with minimal extra management. Some info here if people are interested:

Hey I might be getting my leagues mixed but but were we discussing switching to the allocation system for next season?
-
For Czech Republic, there's quite a few good articles on fangraphs. I also use the Roster Organizer a lot to understand my strengths and weaknesses and what my team will potentially look like next year. It's a pretty helpful tool as you begin planning. If you look on the Ottoneu Community, they also have several tools (mostly spreadsheets) that get posted on there that are helpful as well.
-
Thanks guys, it was a close race. I pulled away at the end, but it could have just as easily gone the other way with Steam Donkey making a comeback. It was a fun season. I actually don't remember you calling Severino replacement-level, but I do remember when I won him in the auction that you called him the "steal of the draft" at that point. So you had a high opinion of him at one point and time...
-
Congrats to Heyward, both for first place and for smashing the league points record. Well deserved and impressive.
-
You can learn all about the offseason here: https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules#offseason . In subsection d, we are using the vote-off rules, so ignore the allocation section. I'll be posting updates here to remind everyone when certain deadlines are. Also, early congrats to Heyward for winning the league and stopping Steam Donkey from going back-to-back. Remember when I turned down a trade for Severino because he was "replacement level"? He seemed to work out ok for you.
-
Hey y'all, (preemptive) great season! This will be my first offseason with ottoneu, any tips/links to help me understand how the offseason works? Really appreciated the friendly competition this year and looking forward to learning more!

You can only change your team name to include a player name that rhymes with "wayward"
