I mean... I picked him up because of the beard. Seriously. All bearded team is the dream.
-
haha, I like these comments, and Tracy Morgan.
-
And I realized that Edwin Encarnacion looks like Tracy Morgan. That's why I like him I think.
-
I didn't know that Archie Bradley had a beard. I would not have cut him if I'd known that he had a beard.
-
Man, Stephen Piscotty, that is one tough trip around the bases: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/stephen-piscotty-exits-game-getting-hit-three-times-one-inning-030507866.html

I'm in for the buy in too! Happy Opening Day!
-
I'm mostly just psyched for the season to start so that I can stop stressing for 48 hours about bidding either $1 or $2 on an auction. I need real fantasy world problems to worry about!
-
I didn't see these comments before but I will chime in. I also don't think the rules should change.

ok. I think we are decided then. We'll keep the penalty caps as is. Thanks for the input.
-
I agree with Fosse here. We agreed that players could be cut until the draft, which was fair, because everyone could anticipate and plan accordingly. After the draft it is all part of the risk-taking that comes with the territory. I am in favor of sticking with regular Ottoneu rules on this one.

Many expensive players when out for the season would be auctioned fairly quickly by a future focused team hoping to nab them at a discount for a later year. The few who aren't can be put up again in 30 days and at that point are either picked up or only a few dollars, perhaps not even costing a roster spot. It's part of the risk we take when adding any player.
-
The A's once had a top prospect quit baseball to join the priesthood. Weird stuff happens. Your rule won't be able to anticipate it and it will lead to ambiguity. 2. [channelling Yoda] Ambiguity??!! Ambiguity leads to mismanaged expectations. Mismanaged expectations lead to conflict. Conflict leads to [ominous sound] not-so-fun fantasy baseball. At least, not so fun for me. Some people don't mind conflict. 3. I don't see how the current system is so punitive that it requires a change.
-
I disagree with this. I'm an agreeable guy so I'll go along if no one else objects, and am open to debate but here's my reasoning: 1. No matter how thoughtful you try to be with a rule, inevitably stuff will come up that you didn't plan for. In this case, what about a player who is out for 3 months before it is announced that he is out for the year? What if we all "know" he's going to be out for the year but the team isn't saying it officially? What about suspensions, PED or otherwise?
-
Chad Bettis' testivular cancer will thank you and the $1 hit to my cap.
-
Otherwise, we could run into a bunch of players being droppable in September, which could greatly affect things down the stretch with getting more cap space to pick up surging players or prospects.
-
I think I'm ok with the policy, but I'm just concerned about where we'd draw the line. We'd want to define exactly who is droppable under the policy. For example, you can only drop a player if they die or if it's officially announced that they'll miss the remainder of the season. For the part about missing the rest of the season, we might want to say that this policy applies only if it happens before the All-Star break.
-
If two people in the league are opposed to this for whatever reason then I am happy to not implement this policy. It's just something I was thinking about and feel would improve the competitiveness of the league.
-
hey all, one other matter of business before the season gets going. I think that if a player dies or has TJ surgery (or suffers any other major injury that would exclude them from playing for a year or two) that they should be able to removed without the cap penalty that is usually imposed. I currently don't have a player in this situation but I know that there will be half a dozen or so of these situations this year and wanted to make my thoughts known before things got going.
-
I'll send $$ as well.

I'm in on the $ as well.
-
I am, just had already said that a while ago so I didn't say again. Just got to mail it to you.
-
not what I'd call an overwhelming response. we have 3 people interested in doing a buy in. anyone else? speak now or stay silent in october when there are no new pesos in your pocket when you win.
-
One week out folks!!!!!!
-
Sorry that was a lot of typos in that last message... I'm still pretty terrible with autocorrect :)
-
I agree with Matt about seeing home many buy-in before deciding the split. Is there a best way to get you manager Comish? Can I PayPal it to you or should I mail something over (you can message me the address). Thanks man for running the league and being on top of all of this!
-
Looking forward to another competitive season!
-
$25 for the buy-in sounds good - I just sent it to you through Square Cash. As far as the payout, should we wait and see how big the pot is first? If only 2-3 people are paying in, it makes more sense to have 100% go to the winner. If 11 people pay in, we could probably set it up so the 2nd place person gets their money back.
-
And thanks to all in advance for being a part of the league this year. I have a feeling that it's going to be another fun season.
-
And I still like the idea that the winner of the league volunteers to give up their team to take over the last place team's roster in order to ensure the future competitiveness of the league and a mechanism to kind of shuffle up legacy owners with new ones. You can comment on this but we won't vote or anything. It will be up to the winner of the league to either volunteer to do this or not. I can't enforce a crazy scheme like that on others.
-
let us decide on buy in details for this league! how does $25 sound? square cash it to me (or someone else) before the season starts. If you don't buy in that just means that you can't cash in if you win. My preference would be for all the money to go to the winner. But we could also do a 70% to 1st place and 30% to 2nd kind of thing.
