Also--my friend John just took over Remparts. He's returning to the league after taking a year off and is the only die-hard Rangers fan I've ever met in person.

I have a friend who was considering joining earlier this year. Sent him an email. Give me 24 hours and I'll let you know.
-
Sorry to lose you *******, but thanks for being an active, competitive owner. Anyone have a friend who would want to claim that team? If so, let me know in the next day or two. Otherwise I'll farm it out.

Just to clarify, it's fine if you send me a message on or before Nov. 11 that you will complete arbitration before the final deadline on the 14th. I just need to know that you'll actually do it.

A quick note to everyone on arbitration. If you don't either complete your allocations by two days before the deadline, or let me know that you will do so before the deadline, I will mark your team as abandoned. 100% participation in arbitration is mandatory to stay in this league.

Congratulations to Beltway Bureaucrats. Well played. It was close until maybe 3 weeks before the end. Then you pulled away for good. Now time to prepare for next season!! Hope to see you all again!

Congrats on another solid season, everybody! I'll definitely be looking to move a bunch of veterans once trading opens back up. I'll be looking for some young keepers. Hit me up when the time comes!

Thanks aAardvarks! You had some tough luck with injuries this year, but I'm sure you'll be back to being a juggernaut again next season!

Congrats BB!!! Well done. Kicked all of our butts. Already looking forward to next year. This is a great league with very competitive, strategic owners.
Enjoy the hot stove season. Rooting for a Red Sox v Cubs, Theo Bowl.

Thanks! I hesitate to jinx it, but I think it's fairly safe at this point. A hat tip to Sugary for being such a worthy opponent and keeping things interesting. This league is a ton of fun, and I'm glad we have such energetic, passionate owners. Now if only my Tigers could get it together and sneak into the final wildcard spot . . .

Early congratulations to Beltway! I am rooting for you to break the 20,000 point mark.

pasting Niv's explanation: "Okay, so it seems there is a Tigers-Indians game scheduled for October 3rd. It may not happen if it becomes moot, but it is scheduled, so the ottoneu regular season has been extended by one day, to October 3rd.
That means auctions can be started up until 11:59pm ET tomorrow, October 1."

Just a head's up to everyone, auctions need to be completed by the end of the regular season, but the regular season has been extended to Monday. that means tomorrow is your last day to start a new auction till next year's draft.

Lots of big impact bats and arms still left on my team that can be open to be dealt. If you guys couldn't tell... I love prospects. Hit me up.

Trade deadline day! My team will be open for business until 11:59 PM.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Sweet Lou and Alan Trammell both belong in Cooperstown.

Amen. Sweet Lou and Tram are HOFers

Apropos of nothing, but was reviewing the career WAR leaderboard just now and it reminded how unfair it is that Lou Whitaker didn't make the hall. His career WAR dwarfs Enrnie Banks, and no one thinks he didn't deserve it.

I refuse to deal with the new guy and lose a trade. I'll safely mock from a distance.

Hey, as long as everyone's getting such a kick out of analyzing the new guy's trades, the new guy has lots of other folks up for grabs. Almost everyone is up for discussion, but some possible highlights for folks: Lamb, Strasburg, Alex Gordon, Vince Velasquez, Rendon, Desmond, Grichuk, Moustakas, Kipnis... let me know if some of these (or others) interest you.

Midseason Slump Busters's trade block has been updated!
-
Every one of those prospects besides an expensive Swanson was freely available at some point this season, and their replacements will be available next season.
4 Baggers on
August 30, 2016 1:05 PM
-
Excuse me. Sanchez at TWO dollars. And Dansby Swanson? Brent Honeywell? The other players show promise too. Underappreciated haul back for those two players.
-
as for springer, his high K rate and injury history put something of a ceiling on his future value. he's solid and he currently has some surplus value, but if even one of those prospects hits they'll likely make the deal worth it for MSSB.
Pavin Meadows on
August 30, 2016 12:50 PM
-
Also, it's not unfair to think that George Springer might be done improving. His speed isn't as great as advertised (8 steals in 17 attempts) and his batting avg has regressed down to the .250's. Granted he's still young, but he's no baby (will be 27 next year). $13 is a good price for him, but if given the chance to keep Sanchez at $5 for the next 5 years or Springer at $13, I'm taking Sanchez without hesitation. So if Slump isn't wild about encarnacion's prospects next year... good trade.
-
my $.02 on the deal is that it's always better to trade older guys a little too early than a little too late. y'all see how well that worked out with the josh donaldson deal . . .

And while I'm at it, I'll say that I'm open for trading. Lots of helpful outfielders (esp. Braun, Kemp, Bruce, Maybin), super flexible utility guys (Holt, Hernan Perez, Solarte), and some midlevel arms/RPs (Shipley, Jimmy Nelson, Severino, plus all RPs) to be had. Not willing to take on a dump of B- grade prospects.

Might as well throw my $0.02 in here (because why the hell not??).. I'm taking the EE/Springer side in a heartbeat. Both are very competitively priced (EE for $23?!?!?!) and while Sanchez et al. are talented, I don't think any of them come anywhere close to the pair within the next few years. Plus, that's six roster spots eaten up in comparison to two. I have to imagine there's a real opportunity cost involved there going into the next auction, right?
The Lōgunate on
August 29, 2016 6:41 PM

I'd be curious to hear why you expect EE to stop being a 6.5-7 ppg player next season. I'd be shocked (barring injury, of course) to see any of those prospects be more valuable than EE or Springer in the next couple seasons. But it's not what I think, obviously. It just matters you're happy with it.

******, if you want to make a side-bet about Encarnacion's performance next season, let me know. I'm not expecting much. Giving up Springer hurts like hell, though--I'll give you that.
-
Don't get me wrong, both sides did well. I'd be happy to have either end. But the number of prospects coming back to the Slump Busters - Sanchez alone - is pretty great.
-
The EE/Springer side is the better side of that deal, easily.
