Harmon, that's correct.
-
I have a stupid trade question and I'll use the current one under debate as my example. Panik is trading Kershaw $65 and will basically pay for $57 of the salary with the outgoing loan, for Nola $8. At the end of season, that loan no longer exists, so will gain the salary relief for next year. Meanwhile, Wildman will now need to figure out how to make Kershaw fit into his salary cap for next year without the $57 aid. Is this correct? Just trying to understand this stuff.
-
Anyway, I still don't believe in vetoing trades, even here. Good luck and Godspeed.
-
I'd say Nola at $8 has a lot less future value than Robert at $4 and $1 weaver.
-
I have no way of knowing how you voted.
-
You complained twice and called it the most lopsided deal you ever saw.
-
Luke weaver now in the majors and has a better steamer projection than Nola.
-
"Bitched repeatedly"? That's some mental gymnastics right there- I don't think two comments about a (really) lackluster return equates raising hell about a trade. I also don't remember asking for a veto myself, please enlighten me if I did.
-
Just adding this so it stays at the top of the board. Wildman, who bitched repeatedly abt my salary dump, is now on the receiving end of a salary dump.

Instagraphs, the Snapchat of baseball analysis. Again , check the huge gaping white space in his profile page that lists article citings. He might indeed be one of the very best prospects in baseball, but anyone has good reason to be skeptical of such a claim.
-
He's a potential generational talent. Nola's ceiling is injury prone no. 2 starter

-
He's also been discussed in multiple podcasts and chats
-
'Prodigious physical skill and and advanced approach.' Another scout called him 'the best player on the planet.'
-
Not true http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/scouting-cuban-ofs-luis-moiran-robert-julio-pablo-martinez/
-
I haven't made any judgements of Luis Robert, to date, but I am skeptical that a player who hasn't warranted one mention in any Fangraphs/Rotograghs piece (check the article listing in his profile) has a ceiling that is tied for 1st in all prospectdum, as P&E purports.
-
"It's all about ceiling" is b.s. There's not one Rotograph's author who would co-sign that when describing how to get the best value in a fantasy baseball trade.
-
First, I am a fan of Nola, however, I dont see a whole lot of difference in the deals. I think its a slippery slope trying to arbitrate personal judgement unless its obvious collusion. I agree that Nola WAR is likely better in the future but as a Nola owner elsewhere, he is injury prone. I dont veto trades (except Trout when the trading owner asked us to) and I wont veto this one but I think the league should either employ a nonbiased arbiter/trade review panel or let trades go as agreed. IMHO.
-
Projections relatively meaningless for prospects. It's all about ceiling and Luis roberts' ceiling is as high as just about anyone's.
-
Or is at least hypocritical.
-
You can look up projected WAR. It's an objective comparison of the 2 deals.
-
Fwiw, consensus on slack is that this deal sucks too.
-
Yeah, but you're substituting your judgment for muskies'.
-
If the league wants a different champion in future years then all owners will need to start negotiating tougher deals with P&E, because that team is super loaded - one of the top 8 teams in all of ottoneu. If you think your team is close to P&E's in talent, you might want to do some further research.
-
In my opinion, Nola is a decent get for a Kershaw salary dump. He's a good MLB player who might get even better. I was trying to concoct 3 way deal for K but couldn't get it done. There were no MLB players offered for Trout by P&E. The projected WAR of Nola dwarfs that of Robert + Weaver. Plus, Wildman has to subtract current good production from his active roster to get better production. P&E never seems to have to subtract anything to get what he wants.
-
it's one thing to complain out of a legitimate point of principle, like BCBB. i see your complaint as a way to gain a serious competitive advantage. your salary dump goes through, while mine was blocked. that's not really fair.
-
as to your first point, that seems entirely subjective. people value players, especially prospects, very differently. as to the second, dichromatic had been in extensive trout trade talks before the other deal went through. really, anyone would have reasonably guessed he should be available because he was hurt, expensive, and on a non-contending team. third, the only reason i went to slack was to get a second opinion when owners--including you--complained about my deal.
-
Peel, you even said it yourself: "I solicited feedback on slack and the consensus seemed to be with the nay votes." I don't think we can honestly compare the two deals as similar. Others, feel free to jump in- the more people heard, the better.
-
Second, it has been known that Kershaw is on the block for a few weeks now. Panik! has been in regular contact with me and I'm sure he has been doing the same with others. He should know by now what type of return others are willing to give up for Kershaw. Trout, on the other hand, was more or less out of the blue. I don't believe he was listed on his owner's trading block or floated out there as available. Premier assets like him are typically shopped around for a bit before getting traded.
-
I think there are two key distinctions here. First, (and please correct me if I am wrong) there weren't any players in the Trout deal that neared the upside, low salary, and performance that Nola has put up in his young career. I have lots of Nola stock across the various leagues I'm in (including in a 30 team dynasty) and I think there are few young pitchers more promising than him. At $8 this year, he should be a bargain for at least a few years.
-
looking back over the thread, he did complain--twice.
-
I was going to make a similar observation, but Wildman wasn't one of the more vocal complainers about the Trout deal, so I don't really blame him. I'm a little confused about the lack of response from the people who more vocally opposed the Trout deal.
-
and just to be clear--i'm not complaining about your deal. i think it should go through. i think salary dumps are fine and are part of the fun of playing in a dynasty league. i just don't see a meaningful difference between the trout and kershaw deals.
-
wildman--you were one of the owners complaining about the trout deal? just saying, this is a bit rich. not going to veto, but it's also not real sporting to complain about someone else's salary dump and then take one on yourself.
