Wow. Quite the timing on the Hunter Greene bidding.
-
For a frenzied day, the returns for rentals were not great. Archer was the only one I thought got an impressive return

Can't believe the Orioles didn't get Domingo Santana for Schoop. Kid would put up big numbers hitting in that park. But now it's almost as if it's utterly pointless to continue rostering him.

I've been out of town, but want to chime in on this line-up thing. As Darvish and Eyes can attest, I absolutely despise teams that won't remove a player on the DL from a starting lineup. At the very least, a fantasy player must do everything in his power to field an active lineup. It's just not your team it affects -- it affects the entire league. If you can't master this most basic task, you shouldn't even bother playing. Yeah, that sounds harsh, but you have many avenues to field a full team.
-
*reasonabilty (I hate autocorrect)
-
As for DL guys, I personally think it’s something of a reason ability standard. A SP on the 10 day who just misses a turn seems fine. A guy out for a month or more shouldn’t park a spot.
-
Yep, no worries, I don't disagree per se. I just didn't know if the coupon system was intended to make it so that didn't need to be enforced
-
MLB players on the DL are still considered "major league" players in that they still accrue service time when spent on MLB disabled lists per the CBA. This does not apply to prospects that are on minor league DLs though.

Sorry, didn’t mean to sound like a grouch. I understand we have some new owners and it’s not that big of a deal, as long as everyone addresses it and fields a full roster.
-
Rule 1.a requires each team to field a full team. Even with the coupon system, that’s an intrinsic part of Ottoneu. We don’t want teams to just horde a roster full of minor leaguers.
-
Is it necessary to be mandatory? Doesn't the coupon system suffice?
-
Everyone: it is mandatory that you field a complete lineup at all times. If a guy goes on the DL or gets sent to the minors, you need to fill that slot. I shouldn’t need to remind you about this.

Well you live and learn. I cut Jake Cave mid-game, and I miss out on his double.
-
If a $26 Jacob deGrom was made available, what would he be able to fetch? I will consider a deal. (Think: quality over quantity and cost-effective long term keeper pieces)

Wander Samuel Franco? I think I read his novel in high school English lit.
-
Anyway, good luck everyone--looking forward to an exciting second half!
-
Wildman is always in the mix, and has yet another well-balanced squad. Maybe Machdo will be inspired by a trade to the Dodgers and turn it up even more. Harmon's delightful Twins homerism is starting to pay off with Berrios looking every bit of the dominant ace. Hopefully Buxton can stay healthy and deliver on his promise. And Muskies is somehow hanging in there despite taking a month off on safari.
-
Happy all star break, everyone! It's shaping up to be another, fun, competitive year! Chuck has built a potential juggernaut with 4 Baggers, with lots of exciting young players. Shaw has done a fantastic job with his team, including taking me to the cleaners on a couple of deals. :)

If I was at the top of the global leaderboard I wouldn't be bidding up Low A pitchers, either.
-
Been contemplating a subscription to the Athletic, but might need to reconsider if it makes me start bidding up low A pitchers.
-
I hadn't heard of him before a week ago either
-
Sorry. The media conspired against you again, Shaw. In this case, my accidental subscription to The Athletic paid off. According to them, Oviedo is a 19-year-old dominating a league of 21 and 22 year olds. That's worth an extra buck or two to me. And yes, they just posted that on Tuesday.
-
Owned in 0% of leagues, no less
-
You know, I don't want to come off as a malcontent here, but when I nominate a 19-year-old kid who literally plays for a team called the "Mahoning Valley Scrappers" I expect to get him for a buck...

I need to remember start players when they're up against the Mets' AAA affiliate in Queens
-
Ironically, the first baseman Shaw had active yesterday wound up with 45 points.
-
That 44 pt game would’ve looked great on your bench
-
I guess Mark Reynolds didn't like that I cut him

the rule doesn't say how long a player has to be kept, because it's essentially on the honor system. you can't pick up a guy intending to just cut him for cap space. anything else is permitted. if you don't like the rule as written, feel free to propose a modification in the offseason and we can vote on it.
-
finally, there was only ever one version of the rule--the survey monkey we voted on. the message board chatter isn't a version of the rule.
-
even if the message board paraphrase informed your understanding, i'm not sure why you'd interpret that to mean you couldn't even bid on crawford. the paraphrase referred to not 'reauctioning' a player, not 'reacquiring him.' i think that one's on you.
-
sorry for the confusion, but these things happen. i don't remember anyone commenting that the survey monkey rule was at all ambiguous when we voted on it.
