Next I subtracted the starting roster points from total points to get an idea of how strong each team's bench is. This ranges from 3356 to 7903. Bench pts won't be 100% usable but it should be an advantage to have a deep bench of full-time MLB players instead of a bench of prospects. And some players superior to those projected to start will emerge from our benches in 2015. I counted bench points as having one third the value of starter points and added these for a range of 14369 to 18383.

Next I constructed a starting line-up, rotation and bullpen for each team based on my depth chart and total player projected points. This method benefits teams with obvious star players or lots of prospects or bench/stash players who are projected to play in a utility or back-up role. It hurts teams that don't have a completed bullpen at this time. The range that results is 13251 to 16226.

I added up each team's total points for the 36 to 41 players on each team after the draft. (Obviously teams with fewer than 40 take a hit here - perhaps a significant one, there are players projected to produce 600+ points in FA, so these teams could gain 2400 pts just by completing their roster.) Total pts range from 16606 to 23393. Also teams that have more set-up men and middle relievers can expect some (unprojected) additional points from Holds. Teams with Closers are more fully projected.

I've plugged all the teams into my spreadsheet, which is a modified Steamer projection (I modify it by updating with moves and injuries after the initial data pull.) I used depth charts at CBS Sports to predict plate appearances, innings pitched and roles. I applied ottoneu's scoring formula to the projection* to calculate a season points total, then eyeball-tested each entry to be sure it wasn't totally off-base. *Steamer doesn't attempt to guess at Holds, so Closers get a bump for Saves.

I agree - I'm fine with a one time exception to the cut rule.

I am fine with allowing Hillbilly his cuts, he has been an active owner since Year 1 and have no problem with allowing him late cuts this one time.

You mean letting Hillbilly cut his players after the deadline? JK, you're right. Just give it to Beastmode and run that damn yard

That was the worst call in sports history!!!

Just for the record, I have sent a list of my cuts to Mudball's inbox.

I think we should let everybody have a chance to additional players to put everyone on equal footing. You never know injuries, trades, etc. could happen between now and if and when hillbilly makes his cuts.
-
I have no problem with it.

It would be greatly appreciated, if you guys are cool with it. I'll email you my list.

He can't trade. If 5 managers agree on here by EOD Tuesday to let Hillbilly cut whoever he wants, I'll do it.

Yeah, my bad. Spaced the deadline. Won't let me cut players.

I think HWM can trade between now and the draft to clear space. I bet he could move Harper for a cheap prospect or bench player, which would give him $20 to fill the six spots he could fill. Votto is unmoveable at $60, I'd guess, but Bumgarner at $33 might have a buyer, to give him more cap. Then after the draft he can clear more cap for pick-ups and work free agency. He's a strong player, and his situation isn't untenable by any means.

So based on your comments, Mudball, Hillbilly is not under the cap, so they can't participate in ther auction?

I realized that summer that I was going to have to give up most of my fantasy leagues -- I couldn't keep up with the baseball pick-ups, I couldn't spare any time for football, basketball and hockey research. I also took a new job that year and was working 60 hour weeks. It's all a blur. Spring 2013, I was down to my low-impact dynasty league. As the summer dragged on I thought I could try a second baseball league, and I had wanted to try ottoneu - so here I am.

In 2008 my wife suggested that we should try to get Seahawks season tickets, so we submitted our deposit. In early 2010 we bought our first home and had NO money to spare, and had the opportunity to buy our tickets. So, we made it happen. She's maybe a bigger football fan than I am (I love baseball about as much.) We've been season-ticket holders ever since. Our son attended most of the 2011 in utero, getting used to stadium noise. He was born in June 2012.
