My projections show that the current 4 top teams will not be there at the end.
-
Now that we are 1/4 of the way thru, any projections on the top four teams!

Not trying to be a braggart about winning twice. And the cause of having so many high-priced players in '15 was having the prospects/low-priced players to trade for them during the season. It all balances itself.
-
I thought the trade for Dahl looked screwy at first glance, but it is within the rules. As Chalupa said, there is a lot of flexibility in Ottoneu. That is the beauty of it. MLB teams work the grey area as much as they can, and pay people to find it.
-
Don't think this will be a common occurrence. The situation I'm in this year is a result of having a boatload of high-priced stars, and winning. Turning them into low-priced prospects. Giving up any shot of winning for a year. $176 available. I decided to give this approach a shot since I've won twice and it is fun to do a complete rebuild. Cubs and Astros did it, why not? I think I could've got more out of some stars than I did, but that's neither here nor there.
-
Thought discussion could be stirred once I clicked "Accept" on this deal.
-
(Although with the way my season is going I might be selling my big names and holding onto the prospects this year. Might have to change my team name to Rotor City Idiots if I don't make gains soon...)

The option to get cap relief is a good reason for competitive teams to keep a few decent (and cheap) prospects on hand. For instance, I am holding Gallo, AJ Reed, Brinson and Bregman for exactly this reason (although I want to trade for a star player plus cap space to cover the added cost of the star player.) It's a tried and true ottoneu strategy. The only difference here is that man is not getting a great batter plus the loan, just naked cap space.

Chalupa I hear what you are saying. I'm thinking more of the fact that this type of trade has not been seen before. It may be that we have to adjust because it becomes more common.
-
Love the discussion. I don't have any issue with a trade like this. For me, one of the things I love about Ottoneu is that it allows for so much creativity and flexibility in how to build a roster. Maybe I'm being short-sighted, but I don't really see stuff like this having a noticeable impact on competitive balance. I agree it's a benefit to have cap space mid-season. But in theory, that benefit should be offset by the rest of us acquiring assets for less at the auction.
-
I get the explanations. It's not a deal I particularly like or think is within the spirit of being able to include money in Ottoneu. I'm curious to see if these types of deals mess up the competitive balance of leagues going forward. By that I mean that it will screw up values going into the auction if people are going to save huge chunks of cash to do this. It's not something that can be anticipated, but it definitely gives a team a huge advantage mid season.
-
But obviously it is not my deal so I am about to press the 'approve' button.
-
If two teams can reach a deal that keeps them within the roster requirements then I am not going to veto it. However I do think it is a bit much to pay for a prospect. I understand what both Rotor and Machado are saying, it just seems like a lot to pay.
-
Really? I guess it comes down to how you value Dahl. He won't come close to using all the space he has, that's for sure, and he had something like $130 before this deal. Plenty left for other prospect deals.

Sure, I get the concept. But I'd think there'd be more efficient uses for all that cap space.
-
Hillbilly is punting the season, and Dahl is a good prospect. man 'o WAR is giving up a prospect for $40 of cap relief in 2016, then on October 1st, the loan ends. Short-term gain for man, long term cheap prospect for Hillbilly.

Uh, is Hillbilly really buying David Dahl for $40? That doesn't seem like a great idea.

Yes for cap and roster space. Although right after I accepted, I realized I could accomplish the same $ gain by cutting. Sometimes you just have a moment.

I think I understand the deal - I approved, for what it's worth. :)

Hey that Souza for nothing deal -- is that a mistake? I'll hold off on approving (for my part) for the time being. Thanks!

With a couple of guys banged up, I'd like to add some SP depth. I am willing to move hitting and prospects. Let me know if you have any interest.
-
Team has been taken.
-
Terry had a bit to add: "Filling the opening is on a first come first served basis as long as new owner will be active and dedicated because its a year-round league basically. Obviously reference goes a long way."
-
Message me here and I will put you in contact with Terry, the LgMngr, if you are interested. Message me with any questions. Thanks, Cliff

You will have Kershaw, Arenado, Puig, Arietta, Matz, KJansen, and JFamilia to work with among others. League is AL Only and NL only combined into one. Each league has its separate pool of players. The auction doesn't happen until an owner is found.
-
An owner is needed in a friend's espn-based Ultimate World Series League. The auction draft is Thursday 3/31 @ 8:30pm EST. League is 10 team AL and 10 team NL, pennant winners play each other in the World Series. H2H, most cats (7 hit, 7 pitch). Great set-up, easy to grasp once you get the basics (contracts, minors, salaries, inflation). I took a team a month ago and I believe I can make it a winner quickly, given the parameters. The available team is the LA Dodgers.
