Just speaking for myself, I would not be in favor of any additional punishment.
-
If that's not enough, whatever additional punishment Mudball Blasters sees fit to mete out is understandable, including kicking me out of the league. I have paid through 2017, so it would be a free team for the claimer. I am okay with that, provided that you understand that it was an honest mistake (I misinterpreted the honor-based portion of the rule) even though it was an attempt to exploit what I thought to be a not-overly-impactful loophole. I am truly sorry.

...except that I am prevented from doing so during the arb process. I'll do so as soon as a can, and in the meantime I will post a list of drops, and I promise I will stick to it. But I need 24 hours to put it together.

I like to present myself as an "evil genius" (who never wins) but not as a rule-breaker. But I am in the wrong this time.

Wow - you are correct, Panik, I am breaking the rule. I thought that was an "in-season" rule (a collarary to b.,) since there is no penalty built into the game for it. But it's clearly an infraction. If you can please give me 24 hours, I'll get it pared down to 40 + (60-day DL)

I'm with Rotor here. Since we're not accumulating points and there are no transactions occurring, the illegality of a roster doesn't really matter at this point in the offseason. As long as he cuts down to the appropriate number of players at the keeper deadline, I have no problem with his roster. In fact, it's an interesting strategy and I'm curious to see if it pays off.
-
It actually is against the rules. Here is the rule: I.c. At no time should a team willingly go over roster and salary cap limits. If a team knowingly does this, they will face penalties at the discretion of their league's commissioner.
-
It's not against the rules until the keeper declaration deadline, which is well in advance of the draft. For instance, we don't penalize owners for having a couple of extra players who have dropped off the 60-day DL list at this time. There will be plenty of time to research and draft the players that I drop, and I absolutely will get my roster down to size at or ahead of deadline. My strategy is definitely taking advantage of a loophole, but it's unlikely to have much impact in the off-season.

But it's also against the rules and creates an illegal roster.
-
I can't trim until I've had a chance to fully vet the prospects, which I won't be able to do until after the arb period (but certainly before the keeper declaration deadline.) It's a big part of my strategy this off-season.

I think it would be nice if we got our roster sizes within the acceptable limits before any new owners were added. And I definitely do not feel that the Brainiacs should be able to nominate a new owner given the current status of their roster.
-
Aw, I have someone in mind - please give me a day to reach out to him.

Congrats to all three guys. This was an enjoyable 1st year in the league, and I'm looking forward to year 2. It's great to be part of a league where #1-12 are all active.
-
Congrats to Chalupa Batman! He just kept chipping away all season and was at the top of the standings when it counted.

Thanks Rotor! It was a fun season - we've got a good group here. Already looking forward to next year.

Thank you - I'll approve it. I would say that you are entering into a non-binding, "let the buyer beware" type deal. If it becomes an issue later on, a dissatisfied trade partner can reference this 7/10 dated post in the message stream for hopefully optimal resolution, but neither party is bound by anything other than personal integrity. I don't want to put the Commish into a position of having to enforce the deal at a later date. It's a spit handshake between owners.

Basically i will only have Xander and Dietrich for the rest of this season and will trade them back to TUS at the earliest trade date after the 2016 season. In exchange for the rental, TUS gets Davis and Bauer for all of 2016 and keeps one of the two of his choosing for 2017. Plus I will loan him 5 dollars towards his 2017 cap at the earliest date. Please any other questions we can discuss as I hope I have explained it.

Hi BOHICA, can you elaborate on the loan aspect of the deal between you and TUS? When do you give back Bogaerts and Dietrich - end of next year (2017) or end of 2016 (really earliest trade opportunity going into 2017 season?) And TUS only gets to keep one of Davis or Bauer? That's weird. Without the loan caveat I'd approve without comment - I definitely think the side that gets Bogaerts wins, but the loan part has me confused.

The way I look at it, if it is a fair trade this year then fine. If the teams trade back the rent a player after the season, it also has to be a fair trade.
-
I take each trade at face value and vote accordingly. It's too difficult to track contingency trades, and what if a manager involved drops out?

I agree with Rotor that something of value should be given up by the win-now owner.
