Then 1. your choices are locked in as close to the deadline as possible, and 2. we won't have any unnecessary delay in execution.

I've been the loudest voice against, but I'd support you having the opportunity to allocate (if it's possible.) I am slightly worried that it will take time to reach consensus on this, and your internet access limitations might drag it out for many days. Can you please send your list to two of the owners you'd give only a $1 allocation to ASAP? Two owners - for double-checking. Owners who are most likely to benefit from it - to avoid it impacting their support for it.

If some of you don't agree to let me do the allocations, because I missed the deadline, I can completely understand your decision. Nevertheless I'm excited for a new season of Fantasy Baseball!
-
Hi fellow GM's. I am sorry for answering too late on all that has been written in the past few days.
As Chalupa mentioned it, due to my job I'm quite often on the road. And sometimes I have to go to places where I don't have access to the internet. To make things short, I missed the arbitration deadline and therefore did not make any allocations. That was not what I had on my mind before leaving Europe. If you give me the chance to make my allocations, I would be happy about it and do it ASAP

@Chalupa - OMG that would be ridiculous (to punish TBB for not submitting.) Glad you cleared that up. No way, not submitting is a purely self-destructive act - there's nothing to punish.

Looks folks, the game is designed to handle owners not allocating arb. It's only a disadvantage to the person who opts out. It's not going to even slightly unbalance the game if not everyone submits it. It's arguably a strategy to NOT submit arb, as that's a friend-making move that could garner favorable trade status. I don't even get why this is an issue. Every year we have owners who don't submit and it's never even been discussed.

I don't have a strong opinion either way on allowing him to correct it. Good arguments can be made either way. I just wanted to make sure that nobody wanted to penalize him for not doing it.
-
I pretty much totally disagree with correcting it. I think it's part of the game. The rules on arb place the burden to allocate firmly on the owner, as the owner has to meet criteria to qualify. It's not an automatic thing, and we have a long time to get it done. TBB is a military man, and so he's particularly sympathetic, and I can see that there's probably going to be a lot of support to let his submit late. But does he even want to? He might not even care.

Ahh, gotcha. Totally understand and agree.

I'm not looking to discipline or kick anyone out as a reaction. I would like to find out why allocations were not made and see if there is anything to do to correct it.

I think this is a good discussion. I'd just like to add that if I remember right, Barsi lives overseas and also travels a lot - he might not have had a chance to allocate. I understand that it helps the competitive balance of the league for everyone to allocate. And I also understand that we all had a long time to get our allocations in. But Barsi has also been a longstanding member who has been pretty active. I'd like to see him given the benefit of the doubt if possible.
-
Excellent point Braves. I think all teams would show they are committed to the league by doing allocations.

I don't think anyone is speaking from a standpoint of policing. However, actions that are not judgement decisions like trades, etc. that impact competitive balance are fair game for a league to discuss. I think there is at least an informal understanding that arbitration is a requirement, and it does impact all teams when one or more does not participate.

For my part, I am sorry that my stupid last-minute prospect grab contributed to the general sense that policing owners is okay. I was wrong. I didn't read the rules closely enough to know better. I've dropped all those that I committed to dropping during the roster freeze. And also I dropped Jeurys Familia because geez.

Sounds to me like he is not coming back.

I think both? He only hurts himself taking on arb without adding to the general player inflation. It's his or her option.

TBB had a whole month to allocate, and didn't, and for all we know the owner has abandoned his team. I don't think there is any action to take in this case.

It's not the choice I made, but it's a choice an owner can choose. I think I'm on solid ground saying that there is nothing in the rules that says one has to allocate.

Agreed. I don't think this is the first person to use/try this tactic so I don't blame Rotor at all. As long as he cuts to a reasonable number, I think that is all that is necessary.
