that was certainly a couple of wild rounds of drafting!! I think after the draft, collectively we only had around $74 of cap space left across all 12 teams! could be a new record? Like all new start up leagues, we all have our fair share of overpriced players, but should be a fun season for all. I would definitely suggest we do a GroupMe channel? It is a great way to communicate info across the league, share stories and geek out a little on baseball.

Hi everyone! I have a family emergency - just got a call to take my mum to the hospital. I know we are supposed to start in less than an hour. This is awful timing but I'm the primary caregiver and I won't be able to draft at 5. I know it's a long shot but I am wondering I there is any chance of postponing. I am so so sorry to ask but just wanted to be up front with why I wouldn't be there.

Lets stick to the date then. Its a date that works for everyone and the anticipated player movements wont change too much. It will be a hassle to get a last minute date/time for a 6-8ish hour draft when MLB decides to pull its head out and announce a date. Lets just get it done.

I'd probably prefer to do the draft as scheduled since finding a right date/time was hard enough the first time, but I'm open to other options for sure.

I am good either way. My impulse is to make use of the time we're all available. Technically they could still reach an agreement by the 13th and maybe some free agents get signed and Kimbrel gets traded to the Padres.

I'm open to discussion. But just don't see waiting as making much of a difference since we found a date that works. Just don't see where Correa/Freeman/etc signing is really going to change all that much in valuation. Would rather stick with a date that everyone can show up

I'd prefer to draft while everyone is on an even playing field regarding information. The current news void the lockout provides is good for this particular draft. Once the CBA is sorted the flurry of transactions will be significant and likely occurring in real time if the draft is delayed too long.

Guys..........as of today, sounds like CBA will not happen anytime soon and we are likely looking at a delay in when the season will start. My gut says around a month? Suggesting we push our draft date out further to align a few weeks before season starts, whenever that is? Just my thoughts............

Yes since it's an auction draft it is going to take some time as every one will be bidding on players.
Yes we will need a decent amount of time.. maybe most of the day.. So we can start early or mid afternoon and if we need we can pause the draft and pick another time that will work
I'll switch the draft to 5 pm eastern on Sunday the 13th..

I am good with 12th or 13th, evenings are best, but I can make anything work. Also, from experience, I wanted to add that being a new league and starting from scratch, we should count on at least a 4+ hour draft for round one, and probably 2-4 hours for round 2. thanks

I’m traveling all day on March 12th. Obviously if that date is best for the league I can do what I can from my phone. Not sure the fangraphs draft app/website and how it does working from my phone browser.

Please keep in mind that finding a draft date that works for everyone is a terrible process. With this being a startup league the draft will take some time so we will need to do it on weekends. So please be flexible.

Never thought an auction could work as a slow draft... that's pretty cool. I do lean towards trying at first to see if we can find that magical date and time that suits everyone but not opposed to the slow auction as a cool back-up. On that note, the only date that doesn't work, currently, is March 6th as I'm in another auction. Looking forward to things getting started! Cheers!

I'm doing a slow draft right now for an otto league and it is a lot of fun. Basically everyone gets to make a couple of nominations and then a player is up for auction for 12 hrs and gets extended if there are late bids. Couch Manager is pretty easy to use
But I'm good with whatever everyone else wants.

I am generally flexible in March and can make things work. I would do a slow draft (my favorite), but my understanding is that these are auctions, so that makes a slow draft much more difficult.

My family is out of town (kids on spring break) the week of March 21 but other than that I'm flexible
I would also be down to do a slow draft on Couchman or something if it is hard to get everyone together.
