I can understand that. However, the data should be available as a live feed. It would need some code to capture that, which is the same as what should be happening with the current data. I do it with stock performance data. I have to think about this. See if there its a way to get this without breaking backs (and banks). It would make his platform a leader ...

Would be interesting. This topic comes up sometimes in the forums and on Ottoneu Slack. My recollection is that Niv thinks it would be too difficult to implement. Given Niv pretty much runs the whole thing by himself I think he is a bit resource constrained.
-
Ottoneu is very good, but I have discovered across several platforms, that just as with Ottoneu, they do not capture, and therefore do not value, defensive contributions for which statistics exist. That would take this platform to the next level ahead of the competition for deep fantasy leagues.

Absolutely zero consistency .... bloody yo-yo ...

Bruce goes over 200 again and moves into 2nd place.
-
In the OPL, Larry is 11th, Tyler 38th and Stephen 50th. The first cut (from 240 to 170) is 1 MAY and all our leagues team look safe.
-
Short Weekly Update. I may add more later today. Larry continues to lead with Tyler in 2nd and Bruce moved up to 3rd (was as high as 2nd at one point). 3M (Joe, another newbie team) has moved up from 11th to 5th and is getting all the good players on the waiver wire for $5. Best hitters are Stephen, Stephan and JD. Best pitchers are Tyler, Jared and Larry. 22 games played is on pace for 162.
-
Stephen and Larry both had 200+ days yesterday.
-
SB are now tied to fast balls and throwing strength of the catcher's arm. After encouraging two pick off attempts, every base runner at first should be off. Whereas the classic Moneyball "rules" equated SB with an undesirable out, Since, in crude terms, we are left with time to plate and time to second plus accuracy or throw, we should expect more fast balls (=more potential hits). Catcher's "catch and release time" becomes a key metric. These are not metrics being clearly co

I propose that the pitch clock is messing completely with ERAs. There are clearly older pitchers who are struggling to make the adjustment. Past pitching performances are not reflective of what we are seeing in the start of this year. There are exceptions, but I am mapping these out, and there seems to be a group defined by age that are just not making it work.

And Garcia after 3HR still had two more at bats for a fourth!
-
Indeed, Garica's was a historic performance: 3 Homers, 2 Doubles in a game MLB history:
Adolis García last night.
Alex Dickerson 9/1/2020
Matt Carpenter 7/20/2018
Kris Bryant 6/27/2016
-
Helps having 96 points off just two players, with 5 HR between them.
-
Bruce moves into 2nd place!
-
Hudson Duffers (Bruce) moved into 3rd place.
-
3M (Joe) had a 200+ day yesterday!
-
In OPL action, there are 240 players and the May 1st cut point is below 170. This morning, 171st has 2239 points. Larry is 16th with 2754. Tyler is 29th with 2672. Stephen is 71st with 2524. As we are halfway through the first cut point, it appears all three of our colleagues will make the first cut.
-
Yesterday, Tyler scored 200+
-
Projected point leaders are Tyler (19364) followed by Larry (2.3% behind), Jared (3.4%), Stephen (6.4%), Luke (12.8%), JD (15.2%), Paul (15.6%), Brandon (16.7%), Bruce (16.7%), Anna (17.3%), Joe (18.4%) and Stephan (20.6%). With 90% of the seaon left, Stephan needs to catch the leaders by 2.1%/week, or about 3 points, to win....so you can see everyone is clearly in the hunt!
-
A second full week is in the books and 16g played is currently on pace to get to 162. That means 9.9% of the season is complete and there is 90.1% left to play. Last week the top scorer was Larry, followed by Tyler and Bruce. That corresponds with the season leaders at this point (Larry, followed by Tyler and Bruce). The best hitters at this point are Stephen, followed by Stephan and JD. The best pitchers are Jared, followed by Tyler and Larry.
-
200+ for Brandon yesterday!
-
Finally, Larry is repping our league well in the Premier league. He currently sits at 26th (and the top 32 go into the knock out round after the all star break). Stephen is 45th and I am 67th. If we stay in our current spots, we would be eliminated at the all-star break, making it past the first two cuts (top 170 and top 100) but not the final cut to 32. If we can all stay where we are, it would be a good story for our league.
-
For context, the projected last place team is only down 28% with 94% of the season left to play....so no team should feel hopeless! There is plenty of room for everyone to get better.
-
For the new owners, I also calculate projected points....by taking your hitting yield times the 1944 games that you will have if you fill all your spots, plus your pitching yield times the 1500 innings pitched limit for the year, to get a projected point total. With 94% of the season left to play, there is tremendous variability in these estimates. The top 6 projected scores: Tyler (19453), Larry (19181, 1.4%), Jared (18826, 3.2%), Joe (17987, 7.5%), Stephen (17345, 10.8%) and JD (17151, 11.8%)

Busy weekend and busy Monday so late with the update. The leading hitters are Stephen at a big 6.16.g, followed by Stephan at 5.69 and JD at 5.59. The leading pitchers are Jared at 6.46/ip followed by Tyler at 6.23 and Larry at 6.10. The top three teams in points are Larry at 1204, followed by Tyler at 1193 (down 0.9%) and Bruce at 1091 (down 9.4%).
-
Our first Monday of the year, here is the update. Larry, Tyler and Paul are the points leaders...but don't be misled. The hitting leaders are Paul, Stephen and Stephan with many teams averaging more than 5/g. The pitching leaders are Bruce, Joe and Tyler with more teams averaging more than 5/ip. Everyone is off to a good start. Be sure to keeps your games played or innings pitched on pace.

Larry takes the lead!

Maybe I should not have told Paul that his line up was not set on opening day!

A reminder for everyone that there are ~180 days in the season, to get your 162 games or 1500 innings in. Don't be misled by teams like Roca Athletics, that threw 5 SP on the first day and got lots of points, but are way out over their skis re: innings pitched. The best metrics to follow are the p/g and p/ip columns on the standing page. If you stay current on your innings/games, that is the best reflection of team ranking, not current points scored. Your teams progress is bottom of your line up

Good first day in the league. 9 teams over 100 pts (100/d is championship range). Roca A's were able to get 200 (thanks to having 5 starting pitchers). Paul appears to have seen my message and got his lineup set to still make it to 3rd place. In the OPL, Larry is 12th, Tyler is 23rd and Stephen is 209. The May 1st cut line is 170. The top 170 teams keep going. Stephen will get there, he just had a bad pitcher yesterday.

I am 37th and Stephen is 42nd. The top 170 make the first cut.

Larry is 4th in the OPL, competition among the top 240 owners over all OttoNeu.
-
Pretty sure one of my pitchers forgot it was opening day, as well
-
Pity we could not "borrow" some of his player then ....
-
I think Paul forgot today was opening day!
-
Here we go! Be sure to get your line ups set!
-
Godspeed Larry!
-
Reminder that our draft starts in 5 minutes!
-
Three of our teams have joined the OttoNeu Premier League. You need to be in the top half to join, so there is room for three more (JD, Stephan and Brandon). It does cost $50 and there are different rules so you will want to look at it on the community page before joining.

Here is a zoom link for those inclined to use it for our draft on SAT. I will aim to open the zoom one hour before the draft starts, but don't hold me to that exact time.

everyone remember that our draft is next Saturday at 1400 ET. you may recall that it will be shorter than the first year, because there are fewer open spots that need to be filled.
-
Everyone's lineups are now legal. There is still time to make further drops (until midnight ET) but the commissioner will not have to take any roster actions this year!
-
Reminder to everyone that the drop date for rosters is 1/31 at midnight ET. After that, the next action date is the draft date on SAT 25 MAR at 1300 ET (as listed on our league home page).

Hey managers! Please be sure to renew by paying your $20. Payment is due by 1/31. It looks to me like half have paid and half have not.
-
The commissioner does not want to make cuts for any team, so please do yourself. In addition to not wanting to do, it will almost certainly not be the best way to handle your roster.
-
Friends, our league is now full, but some returning owners have not yet signed back up. Do so soon so that you don't lose your team. The keeper date is the 31st at midnight ET. Any teams who are not under the salary cap by them will be adjusted via the algorythm. As a reminder, the commissioner will drop your single player with the lowest salary that will get your team in compliance. If there are multiple players, the one with the lowest 2022 points will be dropped.

To quote Vince Lombardi: "I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win."

I have set the 2023 draft day for the SAT before the season starts (3/25) at 2 ET/ 11 PT.
