Wow, that one point looks to have given me the 5 seed instead of 6! Now good luck to you this week so you get Ohtani next week!!
-
One-point losses are the worst!
-
I find myself suddenly French exit’s biggest fan.
-
Teams will be reseeded for the semi finals, then the finals will be two weeks long.
-
anyone know how the playoffs work? 3v6 and 4v5 but do they get re-seeded the next round?
-
Looks like won't be making the playoffs so anyone who is in win-now mode, feel free to hit me up with trade offers. Willing to get creative.

Being a commissioner of another head-to-head league, I will chip in and say that absentee owners make the playing experience worse for everyone. They affect competitive balance by not adding the free agents available, but most importantly, if they check out midyear, they can really affect playoff races in H2H by not subbing pitchers and healthy players down the stretch. Not saying that's the case here but wanted to chip in my two cents.

its not a "huge issue" holy cow stop the crying. the guy saw you hadn't logged in since forever and told the commish and league what he saw. and for the record i wholeheartedly disagree that its not on another owner to call out. BS. just like you said, we all paid same money. i'm in for the enjoyment to get my money's worth. if i'm not getting that money's worth i'm sure as hell allowed to call out problems if i suspect them. you've since proven no problem by replying immediately
-
If it was a huge issue I should have been given a warning a lot earlier because I clearly check having responded within minutes of the post. If abandonment was talked about it should have been brought up by a commissioner. It’s not on another owner to call anyone out on the league board being we all paid the same amount to play.

I say everyone’s here now and the situation has been cleared. We move forward with better communication. We’re restricting nothing for the remainder of the season and will address issues if there still are some in the off-season. Again: everyone paid. This is not a free league and no one played so poorly that they never won anything. Everyone left people on the bench at times. No one cheated or is suspected of foul play.
-
As far as marking him abandoned that was suggested before he reappeared. As Brad said everyone should and will be welcome back.
-
Everybody is absent at times during the season. We all have lives. That’s not the point. He checked his team on one day in May, one day in June, one day in July, and today. He hasn’t made a transaction in 5 months. He has left SP on his bench and active players on his bench costing him a ton of points which resulted in wins for his opponents that might not have been wins. This has affected our standings. I’m only asking that he not be allowed to affect the playoff teams It seems logical
-
Calling an owner out by name, saying they should be marked abandoned isn’t alienating?
And again, there have been stretches where each of the “lower teams” have been absent. Are they being called into question as well?
-
Detroit, I totally agree. I’m very pleased with the league as a whole and everyone paid the same dues. Everyone replied and I think the issue is settled. After the season we’ll check with everyone and if anyone wishes to leave the league we’ll find a replacement, but as of now everyone is most assuredly welcome back for year 2. I hope everyone wants to stay. :)
-
Nobody is alienating him….he bailed on the year. His lack of participation affected the standings. Trying to make sure he can’t do the same to the playoffs. Whether he trades or doesn’t trade is moot. He should however check his team more than once per month and actually set a lineup. Really surprised that you are painting him as the victim.
-
Leagues are never going to be perfect, and alienating owners during the first year isn’t the way to get a point across.
-
Really disagree with the sentiment of “pushing owners to make trades” as a gauge of “being an active owner”. There’s been patches earlier in the year where other owners haven’t logged for periods of time as well - are they being called into question? If you participate in arbitration/offseason cuts, it’s an owners right to do with it as they please.
-
No worries! It’s best for everyone to fully understand.
-
I misunderstood the rules...auctions must be concluded by the end of the MLB regular season, not Ottoneu regular season. I confirmed that with some guys on Slack. It sure would be weird if you couldn't make any moves in the playoffs. Sorry for any confusion.
-
I had read it to be the final regular season real game, but that’s possible. We should definitely clarify this. I’ll look into the rules tomorrow if someone doesn’t beat me to it.
-
From what I understand all auctions must be completed before the regular season of our league ends (so midnight ET on Sunday, September 5)...so you'd have to start the auction 48 hours prior to that deadline. There are then no more add/drop/trades until after arbitration is completed.
-
I could be wrong but I believe all transactions close two days prior to the final regular season ballgame.
-
First year in H2H so I’m curious…do transactions lock for the playoff teams as well?
-
The other thing to consider is that all transactions lock once the regular season is over with...so get all your roster movements done now. Seems somebody is making a run on injured pitchers. Also, one thing I'd like to propose for next year is to do two matchups each week. I'm in another H2H league like that and I think it helps average out over the season. Just something else to think about while were all posting stuff.
-
Speaking of trades - I just put an $11 Jessie Winker on the trade block. I am hanging onto the last playoff spot by the skin of my teeth, and he may not be back in time to help me get there. That is a studly damn player for that price for anyone looking to next year.
-
I don't think we'll have to worry about that!
-
Look I’m suggesting for the integrity of the league Matsui should not be allowed to trade before the deadline. Whatever happens after the season can be discussed then.
-
I think we should try to keep it civil. There’s no reason for anyone to be angry. This is a first year league and we can voice frustrations and work together to fix them, but we won’t improve anything if we get angry and curse at each other. I agree that a note along with refusal is the best course and is what I do, but some don’t. Although, a rejection in itself tells us the person is active.
-
Matsui the site logs every time you visit the home page and when your last transaction was. You’ve actually checked your team at the beginning of May, July 29 and today. Also you haven’t made a single transaction in ANY of you three leagues in 4-5 months. So are all of your teams in the same boat or did you just bail? And Brad while I love your optimistic viewpoint all is not alright at least regarding Matsui.
-
just cause its your "right" it doesn't contribute to a better league. its dumb frankly. why are you in the league with real people when there's plenty of awesome solitaire simulation games you can play if thats what you're after? even responding with "RIDICULOUS" or "not even close dont bother" lets us know you're active and give a sh*t
-
I’m not offended by any trade offer it’s your right to send whatever you want just like it’s my right to ignore it if it’s one sided.

Agreed. Communication is key and no one should get offended by any reasonable negotiation. I know I’ve offered and reoffered following rejection multiple times. No problem with this. Glad to get some dialogue ramping up as we head into the close!
-
Dear Brad: ~insert Bring it On gif~. My 2 cents on trades, and to add on to Shotani’s point earlier…my favorite part of Otto is how everybody values players differently. Names, stats, salary, etc all factors into how you put together a team so don’t be insulted or offended by offers you get, especially mine 😉. Best course of action is to discuss and find a solution where everybody “wins”
-
It's all good Matsui. No problems, sorry for the injuries, hope it can be more enjoyable for you next year.
-
I’ve had so many players on the IL I couldn’t field a team. Didn’t have cap space to make moves. Still like my guys. Wanted to wait till the end of the year to make moves for the next year. I stay logged in so I don’t know why it says inactive.

See there, he's here and active and all is good. Maybe we can improve communication a bit, but I am unworried as to activity. It's my belief we have a great league here.
-
It had indeed been a great year! At the conclusion of the season, we will find new owners for any inactive team. If he comes back and tries to trade we will also consider vetoing any offers due to your points, but that will depend on the trade itself and any other factors. It's our goal to make the league as good as we can and I hope everyone has enjoyed it this year. Good luck to everyone! And to Threat Level: I'm coming for your bye week!
-
I’ve been on all year. My team got hurt left and right so I’m waiting for next year. I don’t think I need to trade or send trades to remain “active” I didn’t respond to any of your trade requests because they were ridiculous.

Lastly we are entering the best and worst time of the year. It’s why I love and hate the H2H format. The regular season and win loss records mean nothing in the playoffs. One hot week and anyone can win. One cold week and you are out. Good luck to everyone who are going to the playoffs. Thanks to all of you for a fun diversion from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
-
Secondly it’s great to see people sending trade offers and see trades being made. It’s really what separates Ottoneu from other formats. There is a short term strategy and a long term strategy. Simple moves now can have an immediate impact now for the playoff teams and a lasting impact for those looking to the future.
-
Just some quick thoughts as the regular season winds down. First Matsui pretty much ghosted the league this year. He has only signed on once since the beginning of May and hasn’t made a single transaction in 5 months. I doubt he’ll show up before the trade deadline but if he does I don’t think it would be fair to allow him to trade. Also I think his team should be marked as abandoned at the conclusion of the season so we can get a more attentive owner to take over. Just my personal feelings.
-
Andrew Heaney = the village bicycle. Poor guy haha
-
$1 Trevor Rogers has been out on bereavement for awhile. Not sure he can help me anymore this year. Willing to trade him alone or in a package for an upper tier SP. Also looking for RP. Trade deadline is approaching. If you are looking towards next year and want to shed salary let me know.
-
Looking to secure a closer. Feel free to hit me up with trade proposals, willing to get creative.
