While I obviously don't agree with it, as I offered I'm happy to go along w what the league decided.
-
This is a tough call, because it does feel a bit lopsided, but it seems like neither side wants it vetoed... But I guess it's already been decided, and I'm fine with that.
-
In cases of mistaken acceptances, I will vote to veto if both parties think it should be vetoed, or if it is clearly lopsided and at least one party wants out.
-
Sorry I didn't get my vote in earlier - we were away all weekend. I generally only vote to veto if it feels like collusion - which doesn't seem to be the case here (I've only seen one case where I felt the evidence was strong enough to veto).
-
I know this is probably the last thing anyone wants to hear right now, but I'm hesitant to replace a team midseason. So I would like to hear everybody's opinions on this first.
-
now that vetogate is behind us....i think we should try to get MouseRats replaced
-
Well, hello there Tyler Skaggs!
-
Thanks to all that responded, that makes a majority to veto. I will switch the salaries back now and will ask Niv to cancel the loan. Rye, if you want a mulligan on Lawrie, please let me know.
-
I vote veto because that's the decision i made during the trade vote.
-
niv also got back to me and said he could fix the loan. right now it is 6-3 in favor of veto, so if there is a 7th vote, ill change the salaries back and niv can cancel the loan.
-
that's one of the things i want to ask niv to change at the end of the season. email notifications for message board posts would be great.
-
yeah, the message board is a bit tough but going to the league page is the only place to see trade offers, drops and pending trades too. I bookmark the homepage then navigate from there
-
i veto a trade that was accidentally agreed to, even if the team is willing to accept the results. i really wish it were easier to email everyone in the league for talk like this, as it's hard to remember to check the home page.

I don't vote to veto, because both teams are ok with it and while it's a high loan, I've seen higher. And I feel it's on the league to veto. But I really don't have a dog here cuz I abstained.
-
At least now we have an idea who the teams were who abstained. I've sent an email to Sodo, id3, Ghost Man, and Safeco so we can get a ruling as soon as possible. MouseRats I think is a lost cause.
-
I've been talking to Domo via email. He also votes to veto, which makes it 5-2.
-
I vote to veto. Archer is a midlevel prospect and a $35 loan is big money. owners can do what they want but we have veto power for a reason
-
In light of that concern, I maintain my veto vote. This deal was not the product of negotiation and knowing agreement.
-
Putting that question aside though: yes, Hot Mess can afford a $35 loan. But by accepting without seeing it, he lost the opportunity to counter with a more reasonable loan figure (which I'm guessing Rye would have accepted).
-
However, it seems to me that a Commish veto would serve that purpose just as well. A full league vote seems more geared at providing recourse to forestall egregiously lopsided deals (in keeping with this format's dedication to authenticity)
-
I voted to veto when I heard Hot Mess had not seen the loan. Being new to the league, I'm not overly sure what the traditional conception of the veto is. If it is solely to correct accidental acceptances, then Rye makes the stronger case.
-
I don't like the way that Urbina chose to deal with the issue, but it seems like he was making reasonable decisions based on the facts he had.
-
This is very similar to the previous Hallady trade, but I was okay with that one because the loan essentially covered the cost of Halladay's contract
-
really count as a majority, being that there are 11 active teams. Plus, HM said that they would not have done the trade if they had seen the loan in the trade offer.
-
I voted to veto. I continue to veto. We had a 2-5-5 vote to veto, which is the closest we've ever come to actually vetoing a trade. As Urbina said, he accidentally approved the trade before he saw the loan, so it should have been 1-6-5, which should
-
If the rules worked 100% of the time, there would be no need for a commissioner. My job is to step in and try to act reasonably when the rules fall apart. I believe this is one of those situations and am doing the best I can to arbitrate fairly.
-
Whenever you all vote, if you could post your reasoning too that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
-
I'm done arguing. Anyone who bothers to read the message board from today knows I have an issue with this because it's lopsided and unfair to the rest of the league, not because I have anything against HM or Rye. We'll see what the league decides.
-
One team made a trade offer, the other accepted it. The league was given time to veto and didn't. U decided u didn't like it so u overturned it.
-
The central point of our disagreement is whether u get to change the rules because u don't like them. Sry, doesn't wrk that way!
-
That's not for u to decide! If u wanna trade assets for cash go right ahead! The extra cap space didn't suddenly materialize, I traded players for it!
-
Way to oversimplify things. I do not approve of one of my competitors being afforded an additional $100 in cap room for virtually nothing in return. But we have both agreed to put this to a league vote and abide by its results.
-
So to recap, the 2 parties who made the trade have voted for it to stand. The only reason this is an issue is the commish doesn't like he trade. Please vote to either keep the trade, or allow the commish to cancel it
-
Yes. I guess we'll count Hot Mess as an approval as well, so it stands at 2-1 approve right now.
-
so are we voting here?
-
I think I already explained this but...I will get my cap $ back anyway. I have plenty of cap $ left. I like Chris Archer. Cap $ trades are allowed in this league. I hit accept without paying attention but do not consider this unfair.
-
That's acceptable. I will give you a grace period and adjust your salary cap to make your roster legal until we can get a simple majority for or against. My vote is to veto. I'll put you down for an approval.
-
Again, if I hear from the Reston the league that the screwed up and should have vetoed the trade I'll shut up. Otherwise one of 2 things s gonna happen- 1. The trade is reinstated and a new commish named, or 2. I drop this team
-
He made a mistake, but I can't explain why he doesn't care if it's corrected or not. And I am not the only one who has a problem with this. This isn't some personal vendetta. I'm just trying to fix a problem that people have complained about.
-
Fact- he doesn't have a problem w it...u do
-
And I didn't say anything in the first instance because it still left me with plenty of space for the season. And I knew I would get my money back after the season. I do not have an issue with the trade standing. Hot Mess on 05-26-2013 12:27 PM
-
So we should just ignore the facts then? I messaged him right after I found out about the loan. If he mistakenly agreed to it is it possible he didn't know until someone asked what happened?
-
First, if every member thought it was unfair it would have been vetoed. Second, if u can get EVERY member (your words) to put on the MSG board that they think the trade should be overturned I'll quit bitching.
-
You went to him!!! He didn't come to u asking for help because he made a mistake!
-
I will remove Lawrie for you if that's what you want. But expecting a trade to stand that was mistakenly agreed to and denounced by every active member in the league is crazy.
-
Then domo and urbie can have the whole league to themselves and make up what ever rules they wish
-
The trades YOU want. I don't know how many times I have to say this, but Hot Mess agreed to to by accident. If Niv can help me reset the loan, then Longoria's salary will of course be readjusted.
-
So not only are u f-ing up my roster and cap, but costing me stats as u put my team in an invalid state! This league is about to have another dead team.
-
Lol! So now Evan Longoria costs me $90 this year. It's ok for u to arbitrarily adjust my team's salary, but not ok or HM and I to make the trades we want.
-
When asked, Hot Mess did say it was accidental, which led me to try to cancel the trade. I don't know why he doesn't have an issue with it standing.
