Congrats to Kanobis on the win! So just to be clear, if I want to remove someone from my MILB roster, I need to call them up and then cut them? I would assume best time to do this would be after arbitration.

Well played Kanobis! Sorry to be late to the discussion, it sounds mostly sorted. In my other league with 5MiLB its not so much that we follow every rule set forth by the 5MiLB system exactly, but we've discussed (much like we're doing here) and used what worked best for everyone in the league. As long as we keep good track like SEVEN has done with promotions and such it should run smooth.

That was a great race over the last few weeks and came right down to the wire. Can’t ask for more than that. Onto the off-season!

Congrats to champ Kanobis and also to Royce and Isotopes and a big thank you to Commishes. Hope my rebuilding works out next year and that everybody stays in the league. It was a nice passtime having back baseball and Ottoneu in these difficult times, be safe everyone.

To Summarize here's where we are.
1. 5milb players can be traded.
2. 5milb players must be called up before cutting them
3. 5milb players can be cut year round.
Any Comments?

Spiders The rules definitely anticipate trading directly from one teams 5MiLB to another, but it’s weird to not have to call them up to trade them, but to have to do so to cut them.
I see your point.
TRADING FROM ONE 5MILB ROSTER TO ANOTHER WILL BE ALLOWED IT ALSO KEEPS THEM AS 5MILB.
However I feel, we can discuss, that once a 5milb player is dropped he should be made available as a free agent to the league. It makes a draft of a 5milb player more important. not just to be added and dropped.

no no i think you’re right that any time other than the off-season cut period they have to count against cap is correct.

Spiders- Between the end of the season and the Jan 31 deadline there isn’t a cap. Which means you could call up, and then subsequently cut, with no concerns/penalties.
Yes that's a good point because teams make unbalanced trades.
I just wanted to prevent teams calling up and then dropping 5MILB players willy nilly.
Calling them up first gives them a salary of $1 then makes them eligible as free agents. Which I think is fair.
MY caps idea makes no sense. You are right.

it's ok with me if teams want to trade from one 5milb list to another. I just thought it would be easier if they didn't but I won't stop anyone from doing so.

It just occurred to me that maybe the reason the rules want you to call up to then cut a player is that that player will then show up in the waiver box on the home page, so there’s less of a chance of an owner missing that that guy is available. Maybe that actually makes sense?

LET'S AGREE THAT 5milb PAYERS HAVE TO BE ON YOUR 40 MAN ROSTER IN ORDER TO TRADE THEM. IT WOULD BE SIMPLER THAT WAY.

There seems to be a conflict in the stated rules.
One says that 5milb players cannot be traded and another says trades of 5milb players have to be posted to the message board.
We may want to discuss trading of 5 milb players before one is attempted.

5MiLB-only trades (trades that do not include any players currently on 40-man rosters) must be announced via the league message board, are not subject to veto by the league, and may be executed immediately by the commissioner. All trades involving a 5MiLB player must be announced on the league message board for record keeping.

5MiLB players may be cut, traded, or “called up” (added) to an owner’s standard 40-man Ottoneu roster at any time during the calendar year, except the days in which a draft (annual auction or 5MiLB) is in process. In order to cut a 5MiLB player, the player must first be called up to the 40-man roster, thus incurring a $1 cap penalty upon cut.

Congrats to all on a great season! I'm okay doing whatever with the MiLB, but FWIW I run an Ottoneu league with 10 MiLB. The rule that we have is that anyone can release a MiLB at any time without penalty. We have a semiannual MiLB draft, so there's an incentive to clear underperforming MiLB throughout the season without $1 penalty so that you can draft replacements at one of the drafts. Here's a link to the league constitution: http://bestdamn5x5dynastyever.simplesite.com/

Also found these.
5MiLB transaction rules:
The maximum number of non-rostered MiLB players a team can draft is five (5); the maximum number of non-rostered MiLB players a team can own at any given time is ten (10).
Owners may not participate in the annual March 5MiLB draft if they own five or more MiLB non-rostered players entering the draft. Owners may draft up to the maximum of five (5) 5MiLB players during the draft. 5MiLB draft picks cannot be traded.

So if i promote, say, Brandon Marsh, he plays by the same roster rules as say, Juan Soto. And you can’t cut without promoting first.

I did find our previous rules that stated 5milb players may be called up any time in the calendar year.

Seems to me the spirit of the 5MiLB rule is that in order to cut a player you have to promote them to your 40 man first, which you can do any time. But once they’re on your 40 man, they have to follow the same rules as anyone else, i.e. can’t be cut from end of season to end of arb, can be cut penalty free from end of arb to Jan 31 keeper deadline, can’t be cut from Jan 31 to end of auction, then can be cut for a penalty from end of auction to end of season. Does that make sense?

OKAY. 5MILB is a League determined entity. Meaning there are no Ottoneu Rules
What say Yee on dropping 5milb players in the off season.
Do we want to be able to drop players or not?
I say OK if adding player to roster does not temporarily put your team over player or cap limits.
Meaning you would still have to call player up to your 40 man roster before cutting him.
Of course this will only be allowed during times when cuts are permitted.
Does Anybody else have any other ideas?
