Folks, Rowdy Tellez just became the league's first player to graduate from the 10 man MiLB to the 40 man roster. The add was made at request of The Lumber Jacks (Tellez would have exhausted ROY eligibility this weekend). To add a player from your 10 man MiLB, just send me a message.

FYI: there are now two players (Rowdy Tellez and Jon Duplainter) on the 10 MiLB rosters who have been called up to the bigs. Their owners will have to add them to the 40 man roster once they exhaust their ROY eligibility (45 days of MLB service, 130 AB, or 50 IP). Tellez (Lumber Jacks) had 27 days of MLB service time heading into the season, so he's got ~2 weeks if he stays up. I'll have to manually add him to LJ's 40 man, so just let me know if you want him called up sooner than ~2 weeks.

To check if a player is eligible, do two things:
a) Ottoneu player search to make sure he's a Free Agent (if a player is in red then he's on the restricted list--i.e., already been taken in the MiLB draft); and
b) Check Baseball Reference to make sure that he still has ROY eligibility and has under 45 days of MLB service time (if the guy has never reached the majors, then you don't have to check this)
-
Guys starting with the 4th round, I'm going to start strictly enforcing the rules with respect to the 12 hour clock and nominating an ineligible player (i.e., you get skipped and have two picks at your next turn). We just need to keep this moving along and we should all have gotten used to the cadence by now. So please make sure that your notifications are set that you get an email or mobile notification (if you've installed the app) when its your turn.

For future reference, our rule is that to be eligible for the MiLB roster, he needs to be "MLB Rookie of the Year eligible (i.e., has less than 130 MLB At Bats [if hitter], 50 IP [if pitcher], and has less than 45 days of MLB service time)." So a player could still be MiLB draft eligible even if he has some MLB playing time (e.g., a September callup). Also, a guy need not be called up from the MiLB roster the moment he is called up to MLB (only when he exceeds ROY eligibility).
-
Hmm... now I'm not so sure. According to Baseball Reference, Alford is still ROY eligible (which is what I was relying on). But per both Baseball Reference and Roster Resource, he has 113 days of MLB service time, which would make him ineligible for ROY and the MiLB Roster. Never mind, Alford is fair game for the 48 hour auction and not eligible for MiLB draft. Sorry for my confusion.
-
Sorry, I did not realize that Alford still counted as a minor league player. He's already played in the majors (2016 & 2018). I assumed this draft was for players who have yet participate in a MLB game. Am I wrong on that?
-
As I mentioned on Slack, the current auction for Anthony Alford will be voided when it's complete so don't cut a player to accommodate him. As we had discussed a few days ago, it doesn't make sense to have auctions for MiLB players while we're doing the MiLB draft. We made an exception for the auctions that had already started prior to this decision (e.g., Joey Bart and Victor Victor Mesa), but the consensus was to not allow future MiLB auctions until the draft is completed.

I'd say you let the current ones stand, would seem like a retroactive rule otherwise which may be a little unfair. But again, I'm good with whatever group consensus is.
-
Okay, that makes sense. Should I void the results any current MiLB auctions?

Sho, I had the same thinking originally. But, if you auction someone, you gotta spend at least a $1 on them, use a roster spot, and have them go through arbitration at the end of the year. So there is a penalty for not taking a guy in the draft. I'm fine with whatever anyone else wants. I would suggest that if you guys wanted to suspend auctions, to make that only for MiLB eligible players, as I'm sure some people would like to fill out their squads with other guys sooner rather than later.
-
I think you almost have to. Otherwise you run into the possible issue of someone trying to bypass the draft order and start an auction on someone they fear will get drafted before they can make their pick.

Would it make it easier to suspend the 48 hour auctions while we're doing the MiLB draft?
-
Sorry for the formatting of that last post. Please use the format "Full Player Name (Pos) Team" when making your picks. Do not just write a last name or whatever. Any problems with Slack, please let me know. Everything is happening in the "#march2019milbdraft" channel. You should all be on it, but let me know if for some reason you're not.

I’m on slack as well and can’t find how to pick

Here's the draft order, as determined by a series of random numbers generated on Slack: So the draft order:
1) Cosby Sweaters;
2) The Process;
3) Dixie Phenoms;
4) Mama's Bolognese;
5) Bolton Bombers;
6) SubZero;
7) Sho Time;
8) The Lumberjacks;
9) Last Giants Fan Standing;
10) Zino and Zach;
11) WashTown Red Caps;
12) Ybor City Rollers
