Commissioner, i was way confused how the cap penalty hits and 1$ player drops and all. Could you please undue the mess i made , remove Boxy, and put my cuts back?? I doubt anyone will care this early.

Landis was a real sonofabitch; not good for baseball or for the future of the HOF, and certainly not for equality or progress.
-
When John D. Rockefeller was informed, on the golf course, of Judge Landis' decision, he reportedly quipped, "Judge Landis will be long dead before I pay a penny of that fine!" Rockefeller turned out to be correct, but Standard Oil was broken up into the "Seven Sisters" nonetheless.
-
Recommend my current read, "Oil, Power, and War". Supposedly replaces Daniel Yergin's, "The Prize" as the single best book to cover the topic. Learned that Kenesaw "Mountain" Landis was the judge who broke up Standard Oil and fined them $29 million for anti-trust violations (1/3 of Standard Oil's total corporate assets!!). The French author has also already got Trump on the Mt. Rushmore of presidential incompetence along with Jame Buchanan and G.W. Bush. I'm onl

Good luck! Hope yours goes as well as mine did.

I had inguinal hernia surgery 3 or 4 years ago. The surgeon put in the mesh. Healing time was pretty quick and I've been fine since.
-
That is awesome, right there.

Don't laugh. Emily keeps asking me to build one for our yard.
-
NGB, i bet you have one of those Little Free Library's boxes in front of your house.

I carried a cap penalty all year for bidding on the wrong Carlos Martinez in our first auction.... That $1 could have made the difference in a year that close! But Iβd hate to condemn Mikey to a lifetime of this bitterness, so I also say make it go away.
-
Ugh Brew, sorry to hear it. Not me, but it seems like they do about a million a year in the US, so it should be pretty routine for the docs (I have had enough surgery to believe itβs never routine for the patient). Hope the surgery and recovery goes well. You should get an apprentice to help with the brewing.

Finished my Game of Thrones episodes. The author of the books is a Grateful Dead fan (and now a Dead & Company fan; he attended their recent concert in Mexico) and a lot of the Thrones imagery and themes are pretty easily traceable to Grateful Dead lyrics and themes. Anyway, glad I finally found out what I've been missing... enjoyed it immensely. Same day I finished the Thrones episodes, I also finished Phil Lesh's book, "Searching for the Sound: My Life with The Grateful Dead&qu

ill be bossing my wife around as if she is a monty python peasent
-
Thanks NGB , alledgedly it doesnt entail much, but not being able to lift anything over 40 # for 4 to 6 weeks will kabosh brewing, gardening, and weights at the gym , which will suck.
-
Brew, Sorry to hear about the upcoming hernia surgery, but glad you'll be better than ever on the other side. Hope all goes routinely. All best.

No cap penatly for Bichette is fine by me.
-
Well, Puig and Suarez went for more than I was willing to pay and I already had Rizzo when Votto came up. Mouse, rat... it's a rodent of some kind
-
If we are ever gping to do a dead pool in here , draft me as if im vlad jr .
-
Has anyone in here had hernia, surgery yet ? My guts leaked out past stomach lining and i have to go under the knife.
-
Hey yβall, Mileyβs salary appears to have correctly adjusted now. Should we put that Bichette cut penalty back on or just leave it the way it is? Iβm inclined to just leave it unless anyone objects.
-
π, how do you have 9 Reds but not any of Votto, Suarez, or Puig? Maybe we need to make a deal. Also, are you sure thatβs a mouse?

Hammer Mechanics π¨'s trade block has been updated!

One thing I didnβt do on purpose: make such a large bet on middle-aged and even geriatric hitters. My youngest opening day starters will be 27: Bryant, Trout, and (probably) Schoop, and Puig is the only other guy under 30 (Ohtani is younger but wonβt be ready.) I expect to start as many guys over 35 (Choo, Votto, Braun, Iannetta) as under 30. No wonder I got an offer including Matt Kemp. This is just a 1-year league, right?
-
10 guys overlap between Beer and Wine

Slobs and Suaves overlap 5 guys...(Happ, Belt, Seager, Dickerson, & Goodrum)

Charles, I can't put much stock in your number as I imagine it'll vary greatly from day to day.
-
Yikes, 14 for me ! Not my intention other than Baez and Aguilar. I blame the Zombie Dust and Cyclobenzadrine
-
I only have 3 common players, all pitchers. I figured that would happen.
-
Only 4 for me too
-
I only have an overlap of 4 players that are in my other team.
-
Many, to my dismay, saved a good deal of cash for bargains or semi bargains. I found myself needing 21 players and having 26 dollars.
-
I tried NOT to be influenced by players on my other roster, but still ended up with an overlap of 10. Then I immediately traded for an 11th.
-
I have seis (bat) hombres, which surprises me a little b/c I was trying to draft differently than I usually wouldβitβs an alt league, right?βso only a couple prospects, no $$ left over, and willing to spend more on a couple stars. Most of these are borderline guys (Mallex, Hendricks, Gohara, Choo, Green) that either interest no one else or that Iβm just usually the high guy on (Iβm surprised I didnβt end up with Rich Hill too).
-
I wanted two page 1 hitters ,,on my sheets that is , and got Arenado and Yelich. Thought id make a run at Realmuto but he got too rich.
-
Kloober Lang π₯'s trade block has been updated!
-
I have 9 guys from my other roster. I think this is basically because I was more familiar with those guys rather than a desire to get the same guys.
-
Wait.. 5 guys? Cinco Hombres? Iβve come full circle
-
Looks like I drafted 5 guys on my other roster.
-
I'm very impressed. Will be fun to see how the "heart over mind" teams turn out. Not exactly the best competitive strategy.
-
And Iβm nipping at your heels with 9 Reds. Not sure that is something to brag about...
-
Mikey... You've been de-throned as the league's most devoted fan. I have 10 Braves (mlb + prospects) on my roster to your 8 Nats!! Read it and weep!!
-
In response to an earlier musing by Kloobs about wondering how much overlap folks might have on their rosters between leagues... my FC Capped roster includes 11 players from my FC Auctionhouse roster. I'm surprised it was that much because going into the FC Capped draft I had only three objectives: (1) get David Dahl (because I have his autographed game bat), (2) get Trevor Story (because I have two of his jerseys), and (3) get Freeman and Acuna since they are the Braves' stars.
-
Sausage Gravy's trade block has been updated!
-
I guess all ties in auction bidding between now and opening day are resolved by coin flip?
-
Interesting question Drew. Was a mad scramble. Perhaps the fact that people cant get guys they need post draft by offering up cheap prospects, inspired people to get all they can via the draft.
-
I do wonder how different the mindsets are between the leagues when it comes to player value. For instance, last night would suggest that the value of some guys on my other team is much higher than what I and others think (based on trade offers). Is it the thrill of the auction that drove prices up, or do folks really think the players are worth what they paid?
-
BTW, is it written down anywhere how the supplemental $$ pot in the original league is going to be split? Despite the clear interest that $275 of surplus value says I should have in the answer to that question, anything the league decides, and I mean anything, is fine with me. I'm in this to maximize my enjoyment, not profit, and so far my money invested has already been paid back more richly than I could have asked for. What a tremendous bunch of guys to be in a league with!!
-
Since over the last three seasons I'm $100 in the red on entry fees ($150 spent; $50 in winnings), each surplus value $ I go into 2019 with cost me 36 cents in real money. I need to start winning to get this operation in the black. Kloobs model is far more profitable.
