Now that i've re-read the rules I'm looking forward to this Machado trade. Sure, it might be a boring Ohtani-for-Machado swap of similar-enough salaries, but I'm hoping more for some kind of 5-for-1 deal to keep everyone below $425, with 3 of the 5 immediately dropped. Though I guess the Zombies could squeeze him in.

Should be a great season in the NL. The Fish are horrendous, and the Giants are probably bad, but every other team in the league is interesting to really good.

Cubs management has stated repeatedly they have no money to spend. The Brewers in 3rd is possible because their rotation is just meh, but their bullpen and lineup are so strong I can't see them falling any lower. The Pirates have the makings of a really good pitching staff top to bottom, but that lineup is the worst in the division by a mile. There's no way they arent 4th or 5th in that division despite having a decent team.

I think the surprisingly low finish in the NL Central in 2019 is going to be the Brewers. Not calling last place for them, but 3rd or 4th place wouldn't surprise me.

My BP is supposed to be delivered today, I'm interested in seeing why they're so pessimistic on the Cubs. I can squint hard and maybe see an argument for the Pirates being in front of them, but not the Reds. The Reds lineup is stacked, and they signed some arms... but they are pretty mediocre arms. Their rotation and bullpen both remain pretty crappy.

The spread from top to bottom was damn narrow, something like 79 to 88 wins. Tells me it's a division where anything could happen and perilous to prognosticate. Personally, I don't think the Cubs window has closed yet.

Apparently, the last time I set my trade block was December 31, 1969!! Were all you guys even alive in 1969? It was a good year. I led the freshman team in hitting (.418, wood bats) and played the weird combo of catcher and CF, and the Braves had a good season.

Shaw was fine at 2B—remember, the Brewers were also talking about using him at SS, though this probably tells us something about how MIL values D (they never did it). He’s a better 3B than Moose and is only arb1, so it makes some sense to see if Moose can handle 2Bfor a year. Maybe not as much as signing an actual 2B, but I guess they know and like Moose’s bat. And with Hiura on the way, they don’t want the Ps to get too used to even an average 2B.

Brewer's pitchers must be thrilled that Shaw is so god awful at 2B that now they get a guy who's never played the position at all. So much for getting out of jams w/ a DP ground ball.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Brewer's plan is to play Moose at 2B. That tells me they still don't have anyone to play 2B. Things will get very interesting if Hiura has a monster spring training. He'll still get shipped out opening day, but be back a lot sooner than some might think.
