Silent Library has the next pick!
-
well let me start by apologizing, as I hate when people do what I just did. I just selected Joey Wentz, but if the league feels there should be a punishment (I.e., skipped my pick or pick last, or whatever the group/commish decides) I am fine with that. My bad guys.

Sorry cubs i drafted Keller at the auction

just made my pick!

Let's give The Cubs one more hour to make their pick in the MiLB draft, if they don't make their pick within that hour then it's Lucas's Legends turn to pick.
-
Team Evan 's trade block has been updated!
-
Yep! The Cubs have the next pick.

What if we say if someone doesn't pick in 12 hours we skip their pick and we progress to next pick. Person skipped can then make their pick anytime after that but the longer they wait the more minor leaguers may be off the board from other picks? I think setting anything shorter due to sleep and work schedules may be tough. People who draft at the end of the rounds and have two picks in a row should make both picks in the 12 hours. Thoughts?

How long in between picks?

There isn't a rush. Let's do this, slow draft milb starting post Monday's auction. Let's set a deadline of end of the week, say Sunday the 25th 11:59pm. Sound good?

for the milb portion, are we doing this as a slow draft over a couple of days or is the expectation that we finish it next monday night? in the original post, they did it as a 24hr limit slow draft, which seems excessive but at least there was an expectation set. seems like it may be tough to enforce any kind of time limit if we try to plow through it, and really as long as everyone agrees not to auction any milb guys until we are done with the 5 rounds, is there a rush?

I just posted the link to the google sheet that we will use for the MiLB draft, once we complete the auction will start that draft. When it's your turn just type the player that you want besides your team name, just please keep in mind you can't select players that were drafted in the auction/have played in the majors.

Can we set the MiLB Snake Order now so we know when we are picking to start planning?
-
Agreed.
-
One request of the league: Can we please not engage int he dipshittery of nominating no-name minor leaguers of same name with some big leaguers (Jose Ramirez, Yoenis Cespedes, etc.)? It's a waste of everyone's time.

that's basically it but here's the link again http://community.ottoneu.com/t/5milb-rules-for-ottoneu-champions-league/1016

In the interest of draft prep, can you please post the minors draft rules here again so it will be at the top of the message board? These should be minor leaguers who have never yet played in the majors, is that right? And if they get called up you have to add them to the roster for a buck, yes? Anything else?

Reminder for tonight, we will go 4 hours then reserve the rest for next Monday. The MiLB draft will occur next Monday as well following the auction. Let's attempt to be as efficient as possible with our bids on big name players. Looking forward to tonight!

Reminder the Auction Draft is starting tomorrow Monday March 19, 2018 at 7:30 PM EDT. PLEASE make sure that you are online and joined in the Auction Draft on time so we can get started ASAP. We don't want to have to wait on a team to join wasting time that we could be drafting. Thank You and see you all Monday night!

works for me, whatever is the easiest for the league!
-
Cherries, could I suggest that maybe we conduct the draft on a Google Sheet? In my experience it's much easier that way to see who's been taken before you, helping to avoid lots of duplication, stops and starts.

We'd just use the league's message board for the draft. We'd use a random generator to decide the order and go from there. Once it's your pick you'd just post the player's name that you want to draft on the league's message board and so on. After everyone has made their selections we'd create a spreadsheet laying out everyone's MiLB rosters and pin on the message board/on the slack channel.
-
That's fine. I wasn't sure the process. I'm good with it.
-
Thanks for your responses. Cadieux made some good points and I am fine with the current plan. If someone really wants to spend some of their $400 budget on prospects, they can, and the the MiLB draft is going to have lots of lower level guys on it. Sounds like a good plan. Would the snake/minors draft be on Monday, April 2nd then? Would be a quick draft anyways.

I'm in support of the supplemental MiLB draft, I think it is an interesting wrinkle. As aways, the almighty dollar has the final say. Elite prospects like Vlad Jr, Tatis Jr will be purchased in the initial auction anyway, leaving far far out prospects for our 5-men farm teams. Once these MiLB players finally get called up to the MLB, owners will have to decide if they want to actually pay for their services - introducing another element of long-term roster planning. I'm down to give it a whirl!
-
A few things, I confirmed with Hops direct, he is good for both Mondays. On the MiLB draft, shall we put it to a vote? It's certainly different and offers a strategy nuance. Please read up on the post The Cherries made and let me know where you stand on a MiLB draft.

I'm for the MiLB draft. I don't think it takes the strategy out of things, but rather just offers a different strategic challenge.

Just did a quick capture and looks like 11/12 teams have replied with Monday, March 19th at 7:30 PM EST as GOOD! Hopsmackers is the last one standing to vote. Does this mean we're doing the following Monday, March 26th at 7:30 PM EST as the second night of the draft + snake?
-
730 eastern on Monday the 19th works for me.
-
I kinda agree with Lucas's Legends; I dont see why we arent having one auction draft (over two nights) to fill our 40 man roster. What if I want to spend $100 on prospects and build a team for the future, and not 2018? Or what if you wanted to focus on winning this year and spend more on veteran players? Having two drafts, one auction and one snake, takes some of the strategy out of it
-
Works for me
-
Should we go ahead and officially set draft date for March 19th at 7/7:30 pm ?
-
Yeah, the MiLB draft will be after the auction and the MiLB draft is secondary snake draft were teams select 5 players from the minors, mainly players who are far away from the majors therefore teams don't have to waste any cap space/a roster spot for a player who might not even make the majors. If you any questions about a MiLB draft feel free to message me and I'd recommend reading this post on the community page (http://community.ottoneu.com/t/5milb-rules-for-ottoneu-champions-league/1016).
-
I would assume we just go as far as we can in 4 hours. But why the MiLB draft?? Aren't we just going until our 40 man rosters are filled regardless of where the player is now
