Profar, Pro Good's trade block has been updated!
-
Coming into the league, my only previous keeper experience was in Roto leagues where people overpaid for hitting and unvalued pitching (as most people streamed). So I greatly undervalued the worth of pitching in this league. Nyjerz didn't.
-
The activity in this league is really great, and everyone has been really friendly and easy to work with since I joined in October. I'm not sure if my worst-to-sixth improvement is a sign of things to come or small-sample good fortune, though.
-
And I agree with Disappointments that this is the most competitive league I've been in. Also the most active, which is really great.
-
Yep, should have bid ONE more buck on Hafner. He's a perfect fit for Yankee Stadium, at least until he gets hurt.
-
I overstate when I say my roster is a wreck, but I finally took a look at Nyjerz's roster and a wave of hopelessness washed over me. I'm a long way from competing with that. I shouldn't have expected any less.
-
Well, we should definitely revisit the compensation system in the offseason. I think it's best to make any changes between seasons. In unrelated news, Travis Hafner is just one off my team lead in both triples and stolen bases!
-
Also, because Nyjerz ran away with the league last year we didn't have many (any?) half season rentals-for-prospects type trades. If things are closer it could give opportunities for bad teams to sell and restock.
-
There's still a good bit of opportunity to improve. I ended last season in 9th place, turned over most of my top players, and am only now about to relinquish first place to Nyjerz for the remainder of the season.
-
To echo Disappointments, this league is by far the most competitive I have ever taken part in, which makes it really hard to be decent. So thank you/damn you everyone!
-
...manThis is certainly neither a brag nor a criticism of SABRs ideas (I think the arb idea could maybe work.) Think of it more like a glimmer of hope when you feel like your team is going nowhere.
-
Part of the reason it's difficult to build a team in this league is that everyone here is actually really good haha
-
The dead team that I inherited before last season had a far more disastrous roster than either team that changed hands this past offseason. I ended up turning over the entire roster of this last-place team and somehow managed to finish up in 3rd place...
-
The thing is, dynasty leagues aren't exactly set up to facilitate a poor team turning everything around in a season. Because of this, the strategy to building a team is a bit different than a one-off league.
-
SABR's talking about his team being a wreck and I'm only 90 points ahead of him :'(

The Colossal Disappointments's trade block has been updated!
-
I'm not opposed to the arb exemptions idea
-
i like the 1-2 arb-protected players idea better
-
I like the idea of giving the bottom five teams extra $- if it was the bottom five in rank by P/G and P/IP, that would prevent people from just sitting their starters, although they could then just sub in Yuniesky Betancourts instead
-
I'm not totally sure what I have power to do, but things are pretty customizable, and I can alter rosters and player costs. Arb exemption might be a good idea. Maybe bottom teams get to protect 1 or 2 players from arb increases?
-
Or maybe I should just quit whining. That would be another idea...
-
And, all joking aside, there should be something for taking over a dead team. My roster is a wreck, and the paths to improvement are limited when everyone else has gobbled up the top prospects. Exempting us from arb for the first year would be one idea.
-
I would be in favor. I didn't know you had the power to do that.
-
... something like giving the bottom 5 teams extra $ for the following year ($5 for last, $4 for 11th, etc.). Is that something that people would be interested in? It might create a race to the bottom, but we could try and find a way around that.
-
While I (obviously) wouldn't be in favor of that *particular* rule, I would be very much in favor of something that rewards bottom teams for the next year. I suppose the new arb system does that to some degree, but I would also support...
-
I think there should be a new rule: When someone like me takes over a dead team, he should get to choose one player from the champion's roster. Everyone with me? Let's do it!
-
I think the players I drafted in the first draft who are still on my team are Tulo, Cano, Kershaw, Hamilton, Grienke, Ike Davis, Harvey, Robertson, and Avila. I've found some other bargains since then, but those guy have been the core every year.
-
I don't know why my opening bid for Tulowitzki was $38 when I was the only person in the draft, but I guess the results have been there, so I can't complain too much.
-
that's a great question. if I recall correctly, the first draft was scheduled at 4am and he was the only one awake for it.
-
I know I'm new to the league, but I'm just curious: Why did you guys let Nyjerz have all the good players?

8 innings pitched, negative points (again). My offensive bench outscores my lineup. I need to get Tom Emanski in here ASAP to work on some fundamentals.
-
If I had just started Wandy today I'd be up three spots in the standings.
-
When my guys regress, they better regress HARD.
-
We're basically two weeks into the season and I have 5 pitchers that have already given up ~1/4 of the total HR they surrendered last year.
