Begging your patience guys, just coordinating a couple things over IM to try to make something work for everyone.
-
Just wanted to say that I can basically do any date and would be down with a later start time and / or a one night draft.

any date for me but it's almost impossible to find the perfect date that fits everyone

I also updated my doodle poll , so some other days might look more viable now.
-
What about doing the entire draft on the 22nd? It's certainly a grind but I've done many one day drafts before, doable I'd we're strict on not missing noms.
-
Seems the 20th and 22nd are still the most widely available dates, and thus seem to make the most sense. According to the Doodle, 8-9 available drafters is about the best we're going to do.

The 20th at that time just isn't going to be possible for me, I have back to back exams from 6:30-8:00 and 8-11EST, and unfortunately don't think my profs will consider fantasy baseball to be a viable reason to skip. Are weekends that bad for people?
-
I cannot do the 21st. I'd like to stick to the dates if possible, if we do need to change let's get another Doodle poll out there.
-
Hey guys, the 21st is going to be a problem for me. My other league is drafting that night based on this league tying up my 20th and 22nd. At this point I'm not sure if I'll be able to get 14 other guys to agree on moving the draft. I can try, but before I ask I'd need to know ASAP if everyone here is a definitely available for the 21st.

Thanks Water Champs. I am really busy usually through the week. That said, if we have have late-ish start times, I can make it work. I could also probably do the 21st. We could also explore the idea of a "slow auction" and start it this week. Just a thought.
-
I didn't vote for it initially, but could probably swing Wednesday the 21st then a weekend (Sunday night?) follow-up, if needed.
-
gotcha, those are very good reasons Thunder, congrats on 1 year! what about moving a week earlier? are people opposed to that? again I apologize for complicating things, all monday/wednesday/friday afternoons are good for me as well as all day on weekends.
-
Don't mind moving a day, but I cannot do the 17th-19th at all. My anniversary is the 17th (first one, can't mess this one up) and my wifes birthday is the 18th (easy to remember, if nothing else). :(
-
hey guys, I hate to do this but I just noticed that I won't be available on tuesday the 20th (or the 22nd) at 6:30 EST (I'm a student in vancouver, and I have a lecture that i cant skip). is there any way we could move the first draft day to the 17th-19th or 21st (or the weekend of the 23rd-25th?) sorry to be an inconvenience, I just want to be fully available for the draft. -eli
-
Yep, a huge part of the fun in Ottoneu is the year to year process. I would always recommend sticking with a team through the good and the bad.
-
25 days until the draft kicks off.
-
I'm also looking to draft for now and the years to come. Very encouraging how committed everyone seems, should be a great league.
-
Definitely a "dynasty" type league. Problem is, you don't "have" to play that way, so some could play for just 2018 and be done. I hope that's not the case though.
As for slack : I think we should set up a Slack workspace for our group. I manage a few already (for work, another baseball league, etc) and wouldn't mind creating it, but it'd probably be more appropriate for the commish to own it incase I meet an untimely demise.
-
Hey John - I'll echo that sentiment. Definitely drafting with dynasty/future contention in mind. Not just a one-off year.
-
Hi John, I'm in for years to come, welcome to Ottoneu

Hey guys, I'm John from MA. First ottoneu league for me. To confirm, we're planning on this being multi year and not one and done, right? Just want to make sure we're drafting for long-term.

Pardon the formatting below, I have no idea why it's doing that.

Now that we're full and scheduled, I just wanted to lay out some resources for everyone here:

The Auction Process

Also, the Slack community is excellent (ottoneu.slack.com). Email OttoneuTrades@gmail.com for an invite to it.
Community.ottoneu.com will also regularly have good information and updates.

Alright, if nobody else is opposed, I certainly don't have a problem with a 7:30 start on the 20th and 22nd.
If we don't finish everything within that time, I'm certain we can organize a quick third date or perhaps just default to the standard Ottoneu in-season auction format.
-
I would be able to draft on the front end of Thursday for an hour or 2, depending on draft time.
-
Sorry guys, I just noticed the 22nd is a Thursday. I thought they were a Monday/Wednesday. I definitely can't do 6:30 on that Thursday (or any Thursday) son has Cub Scouts. 7:30 would be pushing it even, but I'd be home close to that time so if we move both times to 7:30 I can make both days work, I just may miss a few minutes on thursday (usually get home around 7:45). Sorry to be a pain in the ass fellas :)
-
I am completely okay starting later (7:30ish, for instance).
-
Alright guys, I think I can handle it on the 20th/22nd. I would really really really like it if we can start a little later (7:30) and run it until 10:30 each night. If we can't that's fine and I'll just make it to what I can. I get up early for work but I'm willing to sacrifice a little sleep time (I don't go to bed before 11 usually anyway). Just throwing it out there. By the time I get off work, get my son from school, make dinner, get his homework done, him in the shower, etc it's 7-7:30
-
And I will echo the 6-7 hours or so. But will say that you don't have to be intensely focused/engaged the whole time - there's time for some good conversation in the draft room or attention elsewhere, if needed.
-
SoCal - Would those 2 hours be at the beginning of the time on that date, orlater? If you can be there at the beginning, you may be able to basically fill your team and then get on outta there. Just something to consider.
-
It looks like the #2 date on the poll is 3/22. I marked that I cannot make that date, but I would be able to draft for about 2 hours if we decide on that time for part 2
-
I would expect roughly 6-7 hours across the two days. It's a little difficult to say as it depends on auction behaviour (i.e., people letting the clock wind all the way down before nudging up bids and the like).
-
I would 6 to 7 hours but I've seen some in 4 hours

Kind of an early start time for me. Not sure I'm going to be able to make this work.

Alright folks, have at it. Keep in mind we'll need two days to complete this thing.

Also do we want to start thinking about a draft date, now that the league is full? I like to draft as close to the start of the season as possible

Hey Ethan, Where in DC? I lived in Takoma Park for 4 years

Whats up guys, I'm Ethan from DC, super excited to join the league, longtime fantasy player but first time with Ottoneu

Hola todos, my name is Eli and I'm from Toronto, studying in Vancouver, big time Halos fan. Looking forward to countless hours of trade induced anxiety.

Hey, I am Alex from Southern California. First time Ottoneu player, looking forward to the season!

Ha. Enjoy the sarcasm. Everyone is welcome to move to Columbus, plenty of farm land to build on, but the power to join the cult of the Dark Side, Ohio State football, is strong here. Salt Lake City is awesome, Luke. Was great to drive up side of mountain and see a Univ. of Utah home football game.

Salutations, all. I hail from Southern Indiana, near Louisville, Kentucky. Born and bred Hoosier here. Well, born here, I haven't been bred. Don't plan on it, either.
-
Welcome, Luke. I like the team name.
