Water Champs's trade block has been updated!
-
Great day one!
-
See everyone soon!
-
Tonight!
-
Thank you everyone for your patience! Please don't hesitate to DM me if you have any questions about the draft process, strategies, tools, or the like.
-
Will need to be a midnight cutoff on the 15th. Flying out at 6 the next morning.

Milk, you might want to change the Draft Date at the header of this page, just to confirm for all.
-
Hey guys, I was the loser who didn't fill out the doodle poll but the 15th also works for me.
-
same here!
-
Good plan, Milk. Works for me.
-
Good for me
-
Starting tonight right?? Jk that will work
-
I'm in for that.
-
Ok, does anyone have any objections to a midnight target, and stretching if needed?
-
What if we tried to do 8pm-1am? Gotta stay up a bit late, but that'd be 5 hours out of the way with everyone participating.
-
There's no way I can start that early. :(
-
I have no objections with the 15th if that’s what works for everybody! If it’s doable, I’d like to return to a 6:30 or 7:00 start time, so as to frontload as much drafting as possible - thoughts?
-
ok so that IS 10 people for the 15th! 11 including commish and 1 person didn't fill out the doodle poll.
-
i think everyone else marked the 15th as doable on doodle, but again don't want to push changing it if its impossible for you to make.
-
If Water Champs can shuffle is schedule around, does the 15th work?
-
lol my bad, had it wrong, not trying to screw other people over.
-
15th would have 9 votes. Same as 20th. Would just be trading SoCal for Water Champs.

I filled out the doodle but the 15 is OK for me
-
i can also shuffle my schedule to do march 15th, which would give it 10 votes.
-
Again, 20th and 22nd seem to be good options for 9 owners. Replacement drafters can be found on the community board.

all times are supposed to be EST, btw.
-
https://doodle.com/poll/zznsh3w9gfsyiawh there's another doodle poll with earlier dates. Tried to include multiple times that might work, especially on weekends.
-
should we do another doodle for earlier days (i.e. as early as this weekend/next weekend?)
-
One other option...if we can get 1 night booked and go 5-6 hours, everyone can at least fill out 25 or slots. Those who can't stay on and finish in one night could always fill in their slots via waiver wire auction (of course, they would have to have top $ bid) before opening day.
-
FWIW, I would avoid a slow draft at all costs, and go for a cleanup day on 23rd or 25th. I participated through Slack last year in a half-season, start after ASG, non-keeper league. It was great fun, but plenty of hard feelings over "sniping" of players at last second. Don't think we want a multi-year dynasty starting off like that. (We did draft through Couch Managers).
-
I doubt that I will be able to draft on 3/22. I have a prior commitment at 9pm est (6pm my time). I might have been able to make it work if it were part 2 of the draft. I am open to an earlier draft date/time.
-
40 man rosters, 12 teams, 480 players. Maybe break it up to 2 drafts of 240 players? I fully expect this draft to take 6-7 hours. Hell, middle of the day would *almost* be better for me, so I could just use a couple of hours of PT at work and go do it in a conference room, lol. Really, I don't care, just tossing ideas around.
-
I also would much prefer a normal ottoneu auction to a slow draft. Also not opposed to thunders suggestion of starting sooner (like the 9th) rather than later.
-
I can draft Sunday the 25th either early in the day (starting ~8am), or later in the evening (starting ~7pm), just not in the middle of the day. Also, it's not on the doodle, but I'm available for all the 26th-30th. I too would like to avoid the slow draft if possible. Thanks, John
-
I’m with Ohio, I’d prefer finding a time or times to have a normal auction as opposed to a slow one. Think it’s going to be difficult to make it work for everyone so I vote we stick with the Doodle poll approach

If we get in the draft room on the 22nd and go a bit quicker than a normal auction we'll get a lot of it done. I would definitely lean toward finding another day or two before opening day to get back in the draft room, rather than doing the slow auction.
-
And if we do that, we can start it any time. The 9th may be a solid day, it's a little early in the offseason at that point, but I don't think values in this type of league will be heavily swayed by spring training performances. I'm not really trying to sell this, I think I come across that way, just saying I think it's a viable option.
-
The nuts and bolts of it are this : all of us nominate X amount of players. Those players "auctions" last for 12 hours, and if someone takes the lead in bidding, the clock resets to 8 more hours. So if Team A nominated Mike Trout and with 1 minute to go, Team B outbids Team A, there are 8 more hours. If Team A then outbids Team B with 1 minute left, the clock resets to 8 more hours, etc. I haven't done one of these before, but I have done a couple of slow snakes. It's definitely differ
-
If we set up a slow draft, we can start much sooner (and should). If we do it on the 22nd, can we push the start time to possibly 8? My boys cub scouts get done at 7:30, and that would give me time to get home and wrap up a few things. Not applicable if we do a slow draft. Here's a good link to read about slow drafts https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/evaluating-a-slow-auction/
-
Ok folks, we have something of a consensus! Draft day is to be the 22nd. We'll be starting at 7:30, and going as long as we can. Please do your best to be available late to do as much of the big bidding as possible. We then have a couple options for the clean up day:
1. We can draft on the 23rd, same time, pending Ohio and Dtrain's availability.
2. We can draft on the 25th, pending Moneyballs and Georgia's availability.
3. We can set up a slow draft, via email or couch managers.
Discuss!

Thanks for trying to make things work commish!
-
Begging your patience guys, just coordinating a couple things over IM to try to make something work for everyone.
-
Just wanted to say that I can basically do any date and would be down with a later start time and / or a one night draft.

I also updated my doodle poll , so some other days might look more viable now.
-
What about doing the entire draft on the 22nd? It's certainly a grind but I've done many one day drafts before, doable I'd we're strict on not missing noms.
-
Seems the 20th and 22nd are still the most widely available dates, and thus seem to make the most sense. According to the Doodle, 8-9 available drafters is about the best we're going to do.

The 20th at that time just isn't going to be possible for me, I have back to back exams from 6:30-8:00 and 8-11EST, and unfortunately don't think my profs will consider fantasy baseball to be a viable reason to skip. Are weekends that bad for people?
-
I cannot do the 21st. I'd like to stick to the dates if possible, if we do need to change let's get another Doodle poll out there.
-
Hey guys, the 21st is going to be a problem for me. My other league is drafting that night based on this league tying up my 20th and 22nd. At this point I'm not sure if I'll be able to get 14 other guys to agree on moving the draft. I can try, but before I ask I'd need to know ASAP if everyone here is a definitely available for the 21st.
