Just a quick poll: who all is planning on playing again next season? I’m in for the long run I think. Just wondering heading into the offseason
-
Between the end of the Major League Baseball regular season and the end of arbitration, players may be cut. Between the end of arbitration and the keeper deadline, players may be cut or traded. After the keeper deadline and before the auction draft, teams may not cut or trade any players.
There is no salary cap from the end of the MLB season until the keeper deadline.

Hi all, this is a reminder to all that the season ends Sunday, September 30. All auctions must be completed prior to midnight of the last day of games of the season. This means that all auctions must be started by midnight Eastern Time on Friday night.
The start of arbitration will most likely go from October 15 and end November 14. Trades will be allowed during the offseason from when arbitration voting is completed until the keeper deadline on January 31.

I'm working it while I can.
At this point I need all my hitters to drink whatever juice Matt Carpenter started drinking after April.

Thanks for stepping up as commish going forward John!
-
Don't understand how getting a $1 Soto is a bad deal for anyone. Not competing this year, Soto, even with salary increases, will be a bargain.
-
Also, glad to hear we have a commish going Going forward. Thanks, Moneyballs.

Is it OK to ask who vetoed the Soto-Ramirez trade? I feel like there should be transparency and discussion on these things haha

Hi all, I've taken over as the Commissioner since Ottoneutral Milk Hotel hasn't had any activity in two months. I didn't want an absent Commissioner if the league plans on moving forward after this year. Thanks, John

For what it's worth. I'm a big Lucchesi guy. I have so many RP and Bradley isn't even the closer. It may have been vetoable in principle because of what I said, but as far as the merit of the trade itself I think it was more than fine.
-
Sorry guys. Life happens. Won't give you the sob story. Don't mean to be inactive. I know what I said it was just a bad time for me.
-
Looks like it has been almost a month since commish has been active...
-
I agree on the 48-hour period as well. It took me by surprise the other day when one of my trades went through earlier.
-
true, I guess I view it less in the context of whether or not Thunder is returning (he's at least somewhat active if he's approving trades) and more in line with a rebuild move for whoever is owning the team next year. I do think it's a good sign for the league that people are this active on vetoing and discussing trades they don't like, and repeat my sentiment that we should have a 48 hr approval period.
-
The trade wasn't egregious, but my point was that the trade was lopsided and the guy on the losing end just said he gave up the league. Even if Lucchesi (89th ranked SP per P/IP w/20+ IP) all of a sudden turns into Max Scherzer, what good is it if he's just going to sit on the bench of a dead team now? It would be great if Thunder is now active and puts Lucchesi in his lineup once he gets off the DL. Otherwise it seemed to me like a trade that wasn't in the best interest of the league.
-
Also, by my search of RPs with more than 20 IP, Archie Bradley is 25th in P/IP. That's solid, but far from outstanding.
-
48 hour*
-
If people are concerned about stuff like this ( I think someone didn't like my trade for Eloy and Tucker) maybe we should consider reinstating the standard 48 trade approval period. The Lucchesi trade was very close to being veto'ed.
-
I approved the Bradley trade. While I might not have offered Bradley for Lucchesi, Bradleys peripherals are pretty meh, he's not the closer, and luchessi is a cheap lottery pick of an SP that could turn out to be great value, especially given that Thunder's a rebuilding team. SPs are inherently more valuable than RPs, especially non closers. That being said, I myself would not have accepted the offer but that doesn't make it an auto veto.
-
Is the commish still around?

I don't even think Thunder drafted bad. He just hasn't been active. I'd like to hear from him to see if he changed his mind about the league and wants to play (which would great IMO). If not, then leave the team alone or have the commish lock it.
-
IMO, the issue is not with you, Papi. The problem is Thunder putting the league in a bad place going forward, first by drafting ridiculously, then trading away one of the team's best assets before quitting. Makes it hard to find a good owner next year.

Sorry I just read your comment again and you're saying that you're not suggesting there is collusion. Don't worry, I won't be able to use him much this year (innings issue)

That's a pretty free statement "collusion", I don't even know the guy but I couldn't refuse the trade

Agreed
-
I'm questioning why the team that professed to giving up the league is now trading away the 10th highest scoring RP for a replacement level SP. I'm not suggesting there's collusion, but unless Thunder Road is back to playing, it's just going to make it harder to find someone to take over his team after the season.
