Phil's exhausted and glad this is the final decision on which young Brave to draft. Opening Day about wiped him out, unaccustomed as he is to having any success in baseball. He's horribly disappointed Max Fried pulled a hammy covering first and will miss at least one start for us. He wants us to draft Seth Keller, ATL, RHP, A+ . As far as we know, Mr. Keller's hamstring remains intact. Bat is on the clock.
-
To conclude round 3 (after that Barger snipe from the commish), I'll take
Andy Pages, OF, LAD
Phil Roof is on the clock
-
Also, we've already had our first MiLB roster debut of the season with Brice Turang joining the Wanderers.

also, now that the season has started it's harder to tell who's next in the MiLB draft, so here's the sequence after my most recent pick and the number of picks remaining for each.
1. Thunder Gun Express (3 picks left)
2. Phil Roof's All-Stars (1 pick left)
3. And My Bat! (2 picks left)
4. Ben's Banter (1 pick left)

With their last pick, the Captains select Evan Carter OF TEX. I believe that Ben is up.
-
I would like to select Hao Yu Lee PHI CPX 2B/SS/3B R. I believe that puts the Captains on the clock.
-
Happy Opening Day!

Indeed, my bat is on the clock.

We're fresh out. That MiLB roster is full and my tailor is on vacation.
-
For my final pick, The Wanderers select Brice Turang, SS, MIL. Who has their Silk Robe cut and sewn for next?
-
Phil got a wry smile on his face as Bat took Dylan Todd, the Brave AAA pitcher. With the seasoned eye of a catcher, he looked at Todd earlier and rejected him; "Bad release on his slider." We'll see who's right. We'll take instead Ignacio Alvarez, 3B/SS, Atlanta. Wanderers take their bus trip thru the minors next.
-
With the last pick of the second round, TGE takes Miguel Bleis, OF, BOS.
I believe Phil is now on the clock provided he has recovered from the JR Ritchie misfortune.
-
With incontestable swiftness, the Banters select Edouard Julien, 2B, MIN with their third pick.
A peal of thunder rings out as Express is under the gun.

With uncharacteristic speed, Shelyville selects Edwin Arroyo SS Cin. And with that my draft is done. Ben is next.
-
Captains select Owen White P TEX; Shelbyville is up
-
Whoops, yes forgot to mention. The Captains are up.
-
MVP Machines mentioned he was done also, so that means North Shore Captains?
-
Yes, it looks like the Dingers are at capacity, so at the risk of angering Phil, I will put in a claim for Dylan Dodd ATL AAA
-
I think Dingers mentioned he was at full capacity of MiLB players last time, so it should be the next team. Correct?
-
Oh! That does it for us, we're full up. The Dingers can ding the bell next.
-
Like Phil, my team tailor was up in arms regarding a player who was taken earlier than expected. You see, we had already done a fitting with Kyle Manzardo. A nice new set of silk robes AND kimonos had already been cut and sewn. Alas...Anyway, in the depths of our sorrow, an idea came to the brain trust (me and my 6-year-old, he's our scout), more of an image really. A disgusting St. Andrews Cross spider, the kid is into the stuff much to my chagrin. So we're forced to draft Gavin Cross OF KCR.
-
Hey just had a conversation with a player and need to clarify something. Marco Luciano was recently cut. Since he carries a cap penalty to Slog, he *cannot* be selected in the MiLB draft. That said, you *can* start a new, traditional auction for him right now, unlike any other MiLB player without service time. This is a new situation, so this ruling is temporary for this draft and we'll codify it at the "winter meetings" after the season.

Sorry for the delay everyone! Between some back and forth banter with the commish (more to come), and being on PST time with a newborn. The Wanderers would like to select Bryce Miller, SP, SEA
Silk Robes is on the clock!
-
Phil is up, as in "Up in arms". I had to talk him down yesterday when And My Bat! grabbed JR Ritchie...he was on Phil's list...you see, Phil made his debut with the old Milwaukee Braves and he's always biased toward their minor leaguers. He just shook his head. He spit out his chew of tobacco, dove back in and said we'll draft Cal Conley, SS, Atlanta. Man, I hope I can calm him down. His blood pressure won't take much more. The Wanderers now can meander into their pick.
-
Slog takes Termarr Johnson PIT A 2B. Phil’s up, I’m out of spots.
-
With the last pick of the 1st round, I'll take
Kyle Manzardo, 1B, TBR
RottenSlog is on the clock.
-
Ben and his Banters will take Jared Shuster, SP, ATL.
The champ is on the clock.

After dining on three-eyed fish during a road win against the Isotopes, Shelbyville selects Erik Miller SP/RP SFG. Your up Ben.
-
Captains select Gavin Stone SP LAD. Shelbyville is next
-
I’ll take Jordan Westburg 2B/SS/3B Baltimore.
That should complete my minor league roster.
North Shore Captains up next.

Hi everyone, I’d like JR RITCHIE

Sorry for the delay I was being puked on by a sick kid most of the day yesterday, fun times. Hopefully Kumar Rocker does not puke on my team. That concludes my 2023 MiLB draft as I am now full. AMB is on the clock.
-
Yes, I add them to the restricted list on here at the same time I add them to the spreadsheet tracker online.

Ben, as players are selected in the MiLB draft, will they be added to the restricted list? Thanks.
-
SR&K will "Slow Draft" Colson Montgomery, SS, Chicago White Sox.
Dascenzo's and his Dingers are on the clock.
-
You're welcome, thanks for asking!
-
That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Slog, Phil Roof was my boyhood hero. A journeyman catcher with a career .215 BA and 4.9 WAR over 16 seasons, I found him a model for my own love of catching but difficulty hitting. I saw him catch a number of games for the old Kansas City A's in the mid 60s. I've always remembered him fondly as a "grinder". I named my team here after him and have imaginary conversations with him in my own decision making. He's a metaphor for the grit it takes to survive in MLB or anywhere.
-
We are indeed on the clock. However, both our silk robes and kimonos are working today. I'll have a name for y'all by 4pm pacific.
-
I hope that Phil gets some good rest today after that late night draft! The Wanderers will select Gavin Williams, RHP, Cleveland Guardians. I assume silk robes is now on the clock.
-
Am I missing Phil Roof lore? I feel like I’m missing lore.
-
Phil was quite grumpy when I called him this morning and told him we needed to turn around and get going on the MiLB draft decisions. He was still mad at me for picking the ancient Adam Wainwright in the late rounds last night. He muttered the name OWEN MURPHY ATL A SP R. All he said as he went back to bed was "The Wanderers are on the clock." Good night moon, good night Phil.
-
Yes, my bad. I forgot it doesn't end automatically. Cuts are now open. And Phil is on the clock.

Ok, so now Rotten Slog is on the clock.
Also, that was EM's fifth MiLB player, so next round it will proceed directly from Thunder Gun to Rotten Slog.

Everyone has 24 hours to make a pick. The clock starts when the person before you makes their pick. I will be updating the MiLB roster spreadsheet as we go.
Typically people don't actually take 24 hours to make picks. We'll try to get as much of this done as possible before opening day. So EM is on the clock now for the first pick.
