Before the 1950s, there were no major league teams West of St Louis, so this was the only way many people coul see the stars
-
barnstorming was travelling town to town taking on the local teams. Before the major leagues this is how professional baseball worked. Later in the 20th century, stars like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig an Bob Feller would have their own barnstorming teams.
-
Frank - Interesting! - Please feel free to tell me more about "barnstorming". I'm not familiar with it.

Definitely an interesting perspective - reminds me a bit of the barnstorming days of baseball in the states.

To complete the picture of the game I was at. In game 2, I conceived a conversation with one of the players. What I heard was that he would go away from the game. The reason was that he had not been given time off from work anymore.

Frank - It was nice to hear that you liked it. There are about 1,000 practitioners of baseball in Sweden. It lives 9 million in Sweden. That said, baseball is a small sport.

I was probably the only one who was not. This was not one of the top teams in Sweden, but baseball is a small sport.

Thanks for asking. Yes they did, 6-1 and 11-9. To give a small picture of baseball as a sport in Sweden. The number of spectators during these two games was 15, most of them were either relatives or friends with any of the players.

Quick note - there is now a "lineups" tab at the top of the screen where you can set your lineups. The "roster organizer" that was previously there was just a tool for us and did not actually set our lineups.
-
Yeah. Since catchers get a lot of days off you can start 2 catchers whenever you want, but you'll still be capped at 162 games total.
-
I'm confused... We have two catcher spots on our active rosters, but only get 162 games played for the position?
-
oh ok ty
-
You can't. It syncs with real life 60 day DL lists.
-
How can I move a player to the 60 day DL, I want to move Corey Hart to the DL
-
Or the 12$ Michael Young
-
True - sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the good of the name. "Owning Chris Volstad...My triumphs, my mistakes"

After reading that, I don't know why a) he's not still on your team and b) your team isn't named after him?!?
-
I think my allegiance must have been tainted by seeing him pitch at a Greensboro Grasshoppers Thirsty Thursday back in his A ball days...if I recall, I won a shirt. That's just sound reasoning, right?

Looking at some of the players I kept...I feel like Dayton Moore waking up from a drunken stupor. Coming to a waiver wire near you...Chris Volstad.
