requirement. I love this format because it allows for Dynasty style play while incorporating prospects and building a roster that can last for several years, but still forces owner to change their strategy each season. I feel that the cut down to $400 takes some of that strategy away. I do like the thought of having an idea of who might be available in the draft, but it also removes potential players that teams can trade and recoup some value. I'd love feedback and see if we can get to a vote.

Mid-Offseason Housekeeping: Please remember to renew your team by 1/31, if not sooner. Keeper deadline is also 1/31, you need to have a legal roster at that point, and it will be the last chance for you to make changes to your roster before we draft. Speaking of the draft, be on the lookout for an e-mail in the next couple of days!

That last trade was a good one. Helped both teams. Well done folks.

In an AL only auction league I am in, what is the speculated price for Rendon (not Ottoneu) $260 cap? I am thinking mid $30's. Trout is at 50 and Betts at 39

Never thought about it like that.

If a team had to pay Cole's salary with Ottoneu salary caps, it would take them 810,000 years.

It is a good thing our salaries are not ties to real life. Starting Pitching just got really expensive.

All arb coupons have been applied! Trades may be made now, but please cut down below $400/40 before having trade discussions.
-
Too excited to get the offseason started so I wanted to make sure I got my arb coupons, lol.

FYI - here's the tracker for Arb. Coupons. I'll add a note once i make the adjustment to the contracts. Shout out to Carp for filling out the form 6 times 🙂 -

Reminder, today is the last day of Arbitration! Quick schedule reminder: Coupons are due EOD 11/16 (Form here: https://forms.gle/ocMP4EGGb4EMUAsQ9). Trading is formally open on 11/17, but you must make your roster legal ($400 salary / 40 players max) before engaging in any trade discussions or sending/accepting any offers. If your roster is legal, you may discuss trades before the 17th, but no trades before I adjust the salaries. Thanks!
-
Okay I’ll table it for this season, but after this round of ‘start of offseason’ cuts, I’ll make a poll for 2020 offseason and see where we end up. To confirm, $400/40 will remain the rule for this off-season. Thanks all
-
On the other hand I can take some bad contracts with good extra players thrown in.

I like the 400/40 for the reasons Weather listed. Though the extra time did not help my team this year.

Thanks guys, to your point weather, I think the teams would be pretty lean after 450/425 cut downs because every team is gonna add around $80 (likely more) from the end of the season to the start of the off-season just due to arb + inflation. I know the difference between $450 and $400 is $50 of a teams worst contracts, but I think we could accomplish the same goals with a slightly higher limit. At least that’s what I was thinking
-
I think I like 400/40, even though I would stand a lot to gain by the rule change. If we're all allowed to keep an extra $50 of mediocre contracts through January, more of our trade negotiations will be just us trying to foist our Jackie Bradleys and our Travid d'Arnauds onto each other, which nobody wants. Also, I really liked going through last offseason with some idea of which players would be available in the auction.
-
I'm all for allowing the increase to $450. Unless I'm mistaken, most Ottoneu leagues don't force teams to cut down until final keepers. So this league is unique in doing so. I believe the original intent was to even-out/aid teams since this is/was a beginner's league. So keeping to the heart of the original intent, while allowing more flexibility feels like a middle ground. That all being said, I'm easy-going so I can go with whatever the majority decides.
-
Give* everyone more flexibility
-
(2/2) this would only go into effect this off-season if there’s no opposition to it (which you can wait till a poll to share thoughts privately) but I think given inflation, going up to 425 or 450 initial limit would fine everyone more flexibility. FWIW I’d be more comfortable only going to $425 for this year given short notice. Thanks
-
Folks, I’ve had a change of heart on the “must make roster legal before trading in the off-season” rule in article 5.1 in the amended rules. Instead of cutting down to $400/40 man, i think it would be reasonable to only cut down to $450 or $425 instead. I think this will still serve the purpose of the rule (which I can outline better in an e-mail if this goes to a vote) but before I draw up an email proposing the change, How do we feel? Any initial thoughts/love/hate? (1/2)
-
To clarify on your question, applying a coupon is limited to the $$ allocated to a player. $20 to Alonso can have any amount up to $9 of the coupon applied to it. Think of a $9 coupon as 9 separate $1 coupons that can be applied to any arbitration $$’s that hit your team.
-
I think closing these loopholes is as simple as allowing everyone one "partial coupon amount" player, but we should confirm that now if so.

"Yes" to #2 creates some loopholes. Picking on Carp and his $9 for a minute: if the group assigns (say) $20+ to Alonso and $0 to anybody else, the coupon can't be used. If the group assigns exactly $5 to each of 4-6 players, he has $4 unused.

That’s correct Buehrle aka Stroked. Friendly reminder that this is detailed well in the google doc linked in the ‘League Settings’ page 🙂
-
To my knowledge the answer to both of your questions is, Yes. I had to do a double take when I saw the team name, lol.
-
2 Q's about coupons:
1- Can coupons only be applied to players who received an allocation?
2- Can we only apply a coupon amount equivalent to the allocation amount?
-
Yeah deadline is the 16th. I’ll manually adjust the contracts in the 17th.
-
Not that it applies very directly for me, but ... when do arbitration coupons take effect? Is there a deadline for choices to be submitted?

You guys all have it correct. Just need to have a legal roster at the beginning and ending of the offseason as outlined below, but you can have an illegal roster in-between.
-
Thanks, that’s what I thought but wanted to make sure.
-
If I remember from last year correctly: we just need to cut to below $400/40 before the trade deadline starts. After that, rosters just need to be legal by keeper deadline of January 31st. You have up until that time to make any cuts as you want.
-
We just to get below $400 and 40 spots before trading and not before every trade correct?
-
After the arbitration coupon process. Is there a final cut day? Meaning, we cut our rosters to 40 or less players and under $400. Then is there another cut time period after the trading period ends?
-
e-mail sent, please let me know if you didn't receive one! (another link to the Arb Coupon form: https://forms.gle/VL8dRSXofNdvvZxd6 ) Also, congrats to any Nationals fans out there!

PSA: Arbitration has begun, and runs through end of day on 11/14, please let me know if you have any questions!

Player or player(s) I should clarify 👍

You can apply to any player that gets arb’ed

Can arbitration coupons be spread over multiple players or only one?

Congrats Weather and Miami on being co-champs. Very impressive and exciting end to the year! Congrats also to Pollock a 1st and 3rd finish in the last 2 years is also impressive. Woodpeckers are looking forward to better years!!
Thanks everyone for another great year.

Also, I've always found ties to be kind of fun. Congrats to our other champ!

Thanks all for the great year -- this was easily the most interesting and rewarding league I've been part of, and I think that would have been true even without the dramatic (and successful) finish. Looking forward to the offseason and to 2020!

Well that’s a wrap! Congrats to Co-Champion (sounds better than tie) Weather Report. And congrats to all on a fantastic and well played season all around. I’ll have more in a wrap-up email sometime this week so stay tuned, just wanted to say it was a pleasure competing with you all this year! P.S. dang Carp thought I could sneak a few by at the deadline lol.
