Okay, after much debate and much kicking and screaming on my part, the pitching cap will be as follows. There will be a 2 SP limit per day, no innings cap. You can have as many starters on the roster that you want but you will only be able to start two on any given day. I personally don't like this and it's likely this will be altered for 2019. We're all bound by the same restrictions so it is an even playing field, at least.

Devers Loves Nintendo's trade block has been updated!

That means once the draft completes, anyone you cut is a 50% cap hit until the player is grabbed by someone else. For example, you cut a $10 Sean O'Keefe cuz he sucks. He counts $5 against your cap until someone else grabs him as free agent. Then you get that cap money back. Anyone you cut now is penalty free. The salaries right now won't change. However, once the season starts you can send money as part of a trade. That money comes from your cap.

"So for now all we have to do is make our cuts and trades prior to 1/31. Anyone not cut by that date sticks to your roster until after the draft." so what does that mean?? How many cuts should we make ? are the prices going to go up or down??

Looks like the cap is going to be a "soft" 60 IP cap per scoring period. What that means is that you get 60 innings between your starters and relievers but if you're below the cap on the last day of scoring, you can go over the cap that last day. For example, if you have 57 innings going into the last day, whatever innings you accumulate the last day are all counted towards your final count. It's not set in stone but talking to the site owner, it's looking that way.
-
I was just throwing it out there. It may be a little too radical, I agree. There will be a cap of some sort. Just waiting for the final details. I emailed the developer. Once I hear back I'll let everyone know.
-
My preference is the weekly head to head points format with a starts or innings cap.

There is another option we can try this year. Since categories won't be available til 2019, we can do a Roto regular season and then a playoff. What that means is there would be no weekly matchups. It would be total points accumulated til say the last week in August. At that point, the top 6-8 teams then do a H2H playoff. As always, feedback is encouraged.
-
Also, I'm working with the developer to figure out what kind of "cap" there will be for starting pitchers. I almost 100% certain there will not be a roster limit, like we've had in the past. I do think there will be something in place to limit SPs in some way. I'm guessing it'll be a) a weekly innings cap b) a weekly starts cap c) a daily starts cap.

We are a go for a live Auction draft on Sunday night February 11th at 8p EST. We should be able to complete it because we have keepers. So for now all we have to do is make our cuts and trades prior to 1/31. Anyone not cut by that date sticks to your roster until after the draft. I have a spreadsheet, in excel, that allows you to track your roster and get an idea of your budget. If anyone wants it, let me know, and I'll email it to you. Kevin and Ryan S have it already. Really helps with budgets

We have 15 confirmations for Sunday 2/11 at 8p. Just waiting on Anthony (Judgement Day).

Make sure you pick your availability anyway. https://doodle.com/poll/ezkbe3rmtx3in4w8

I vote for slow draft

Right now we have 7 votes and the only day we've been able to agree on is Sunday 2/11 at 8p. That's the day I'm going to shoot for. If not, slow draft it is.
-
If the majority would prefer a slow auction, that's fine with me. Either way its not a pain for me. I work 3:30-11:30 and I have little to do because we lost a huge contract. This, at least, keeps me occupied in between calls. A regular auction, like a regular live draft, moves faster with bid increases until the player is sold. I believe that the slow auction functions more like Ebay where you have a set amount of time to bid, when a player is nominated. I will look more into it.

So my problem with filling out the Doodle Poll is that I am starting a new job on Monday, so I have absolutely no clue what my weekday schedule might look like. Frankly, I have to admit I'm hoping for the slow draft, even though I know this is more of a pain in the balls for Mark.
-
Based on John's availability I think we're probably looking at a slow draft. Plus who celebrated Valentine's day still? Then again I'm married to the female version of me.
-
Just added my dates through February and March. May I suggest that Sean & Mark go back and amend their availability to de-select being available on Valentines Day? Your better halves will appreciate that...:)

I created a poll on Doodle. Trying to get all 16 of us together, at the same time, might prove to be impossible but I'm going to try anyway. Go to this link https://doodle.com/poll/ezkbe3rmtx3in4w8 and choose what days/times you're available and we can try and schedule a day...or two..where we can draft. If this doesn't work. I will put together a slow draft.

Just a reminder that all cuts have to be done manually prior to 1/31. Owners must always be able to field a 40 man roster for $400; therefore following the keeper deadline, a team salary must never exceed $360 + the number of players on the roster. So basically you don't have to have 40 players but you must have at least $1 per roster spot. Check out the rules ( https://ottoneu.fangraphs.com/rules ) for more info or just ask me.

Looks like we can do a slow auction draft on Couch Managers. Unless we can get a 4-5 hour block where all 16 of us can get together online, it's the best option. It'll be like previous drafts, spread out over a few weeks. I'd say we can get started after keepers on 2/1. Unlike CBS, you have to make cuts prior to 1/31 manually

Testing. I am in

I have some news to report. Although I'm waiting on responses from two members, the vote is 11-3 to return expired players to the draft pool. Kevin, Ryan B and Therron should be joining the league site today or tomorrow. I will adjust rosters accordingly.
-
It's not roto. It's H2H. It will be points, like fantasy football. Next year we may have the option to return to categories.
-
Just a word of advice about trading. I'm into my third season in this format. Its roto, not H2H, but the economics are the same. In the offseason the cap doesn't matter. Its all about roster building. You DON'T have to match money in a trade. If you're offered a $40 player for a $3 player, do it based on YOUR needs and not the money. Don't worry about how it will affect the other team's budget, etc. That's a huge mistake.
-
So we can all draft the same players ?

Going forward its always salary based. You can keep whoever you want for as long as you want. In the offseason each player gets $2 added automatically and we have arbitration. We each get $25 each to alot to any player on any team with a $3 max per team but we have to spend all of it or none of it counts. For example. In my other league I have Cody Bellinger. He was a $3 player. He got $2 added automatically and my leaguemates added another $14 so now hes a $19 player
-
I'm going to take a full vote. I'm torn but I'm leaning to releasing them. For the record, Jody and I stand to lose alot by releasing our guys. Rizzo, Arenado and JD Martinez for him, Mookie and Springer for me
-
Release them this year but going forward allow the natural progression to happen
-
I would vote to release them to the draft pool.

hit the market this offseason. I'd like everyone's opinion. Do we release those player to the draft pool or do we allow teams to retain them at their assigned salary?
-
Upon further review, I think we are going to forgo any "discounts". I went over a few teams already and giving discounts just skews the salaries down too low. The "average" salaries are actually pretty good start points for us. The one dilemma is what do we do with players that were scheduled to be placed back into the draft pool. In this format, that won't happen. Arbitration and inflation take care of that naturally. But at the same time, certain star players were anticipat
