Just saw this on Slack:
niv:speech_balloon: 12:21 AM
yeah. if you have no nomination requirement and people don't mark themselves as done and rosters aren't filled for every team, the auction won't mark itself as ended.
12:22
if you have a nom requirement the site will automatically mark you as done when you skip your turn. if you filled up your roster you'll be marked as done.
12:22
thus, it is finishing your draft "early" if you have teams that are not done with the draft
-
They have to close it so FA bids and trades can commence.
-
Draft status shows "In Progress"...is this intentional or do one of the commissioners need to formally close it?
-
Is the auction still open?
-
There is a new Ottoneu podcast with Niv and Justin Vibber (resident stat tech guy). I haven't played roto for a long time which is what they spend a lot of time on, but found it entertaining none the less.

Paid for next season. Back to looking at who to drop.

Sounds good, SZ. I will let the wife know (Sundays are always easy for me). Thanks for organizing.

It looks like those who wanted to speak up have. Daylight savings starts on March 8, so let's celebrate that wonderful invention by having our auction at 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern on 3/8. Speak up if that is a problem.

New Ottoneu option to drop a player from the lineup if he is not in the starting lineup-- https://community.ottoneu.com/t/planned-baseball-gameplay-changes-for-2020-gp-ip-cap-changes-and-auto-eject-option/6736

Yeah same for me. I'm fine pretty much any time between 7 - 10 pm ET. I'd like to avoid March 12-15 if at all possible since I'll be at Spring Training, but can generally be pretty flexible.
-
March Madness doesn't begin until March 19 so as stated in my email, any day that everyone else prefers is fine with me as long as it starts anytime between 7:00 PM - 10:00PM eastern.

Thanks, Taxman, for having Mudville clarify his post. He is a charter member, so I am surprised he forgot that the default time zone for ROFL is Pacific. West is the Best. If you are posting a time without stating what time zone, you mean PST. No one is actually doing as I asked in the email, namely, stating if they want to have the draft on a weekday, a Saturday or a Sunday. It looks like everyone wants to have it on a Sunday like we did last year. I'm totally fine with that.

Correction...I mixed up my dates. The 8th is the day that I can probably be home by 8 EST. The 15th I probably could not get started until 9 pm EST.

I already mentioned this to SeattleZen in an email, but I'd prefer to have the auction on 3/8 if it's all the same to everyone else. I'll be on my annual spring training trip on 3/15 so I don't want to have to step away from any of that hot Grapefruit League action. However, I could do the 15th if that is the date that works best for everyone else.
-
at this age, I don't have good times..so either date is equally bad (or good) for me

Auction Dates - I have tickets to events on both the 8th and 15th, but the events are mid afternoon. The 8th I think it would be tough to be home before 8 PM. The 15th I think if we started at 8 or later I would be ok.

Auction date - I'd prefer the 15th over the 8th, but should be able to make either work. Afternoon (west coast time) preferred to morning.

Got it, thanks.

Yes, cuts need to be made by Friday, January 31, 2020 11:59 PM EST (Keeper Deadline)
-
Touching base and a quick question. Am I right in that all cuts need to be made by 31 Jan 2020?
-
I'd definitely be interested in making some trades - I've got some cap space and its burning a hole in my pocket. Re: the auction date, I'd prefer to not do it Feb 10-20. I'll be in Hawaii for 10 days and want to enjoy that trip. But any time after that should work for me.
-
So do we have 12 committed managers for the upcoming season? Any thoughts on an auction date? Anyone interested in exploring potential trades before the cut deadline?
-
Hey guys. If you like the Ottoneu style of fantasy, we have an opening in our 10-team dynasty league, which is very similar to Ottoneu in many respects. It's a contract keeper league with a $82 cap, 30 player active roster, and 10 player prospect roster. The more exciting part of this is that you'd be involved in an 'expansion draft', where the other teams in the league expose 1 or 2 of their players to help seed the new team, You would get 5 players from this expansion draft. LMK if interested.

If anybody is interested in picking up another team with some young, cheap talent, go to the Claim a team page - league is 3OH3 and password is 3Oh3. Team is here:

Every single player on my roster will be, post-arbitration, on the trading block. So if a player looks interesting to you (and who among you isn't scheming to get Tim Lincecum, who last pitched in 2016, from me), maybe don't allocate arbitration dollars to that player and raise his cost to you.
-
Hey Slizz, welcome to the league. I'm entering year 2 and have had a blast so far. I like communicating via the message board here and PM's within the league page since each post goes right to my email. I'm looking forward to hopefully some "hot stove" action after arbitration ends and owners start making trades with one another!
-
Fellas - Excited to be part of the league. I've been communicating with Fosten on how to navigate the site and get a feel for the format. That said, what is the best way to get in touch with everyone?
I prefer communicating via text and can be reached at (609)610-1036.

it's the other way around, actually - I'm a former Seattlite (University of Puget Sound) who now lives in LA (you can take the 5 all the way from there to here). We've got a very short freeway on the west side where I live that crosses the 405. Looking forward to this league!
-
"The 405 and the 90". Bellevue... hmm... But not just Bellevue, a California transplant in Bellevue. I, too, was a CA transplant to Seattle in the 90's when my uncle pointed out that Seattlites don't put a "the" in front of the highway numbers, that's a CA thing. I quickly scrubbed that from my vocabulary. Get on that, Smith and 9th!

It appears that at least two teams (and probably more) have allocated more than $1 to my trashpile of a roster (newly named "The 405 and the 90"). You guys are wasting precious arbitration dollars by allocating them my way. Outside of 3, maybe 4 players (probably 3 if allocations keep coming), I'm dropping everyone. I'm burning it down and starting over. This is not a bluff. Spend your money on the many players with huge surpluses that other managers are actually going to keep.
-
To be honest, I had too many teams this year and have been suffering from some burn out since first part of September...wasn't really aware of the Champions League thing
-
Fosten and I are currently looking for two new managers to replace The Kingdom and one other team who will remain anonymous in order to give the grumpy old man a chance to change his mind. Any suggestions are welcome, I made a thread on the Guru boards asking for managers. I posted my arbitration $$$ already in order to convince the rest of y'all how to allocate your own dollars. There are far too many underpriced studs out there, particularly on Foot's empire.

Arbitration has begun! This is my first one and this element of the league is super interesting to me. My first observation: I'm surprised others arbitration decisions are public. For some reason I thought it would be a blind auction and everyone would bid up others' players without seeing what the rest of the league has done. Although now that I see it, I think I like it better this way! Lastly, what are we thinking for the (prospective) new owner? We should probably find one before arb ends.
-
Hey, Foot, have you thought of applying for the ottoneu champions league? I would think a three-time defending champion who finished third worldwide would be welcomed into their league. You not only finished second in the bigs in RIBC, but also won AA and finished fourth in Happy Baseball. How many damn teams do you have?

He's like Gretzky in the mid Eighties, the race was to see who would finish second. Finishing third in the whole world, doesn't that indict all of us? Are we that bad? ;) Congrats Foot. I sure am glad you are a gracious victor as you certainly have earned the right to crow. It was an interesting race for second until sometime in August when Mudville tore away from the rest. I'm glad that I'm still one of the three managers to get on the podium each year. It's getting much harder to do.

Thank you all, this was truly a charmed season for my team.
-
Commishes - are you thinking of abandoning Kingdom? Missing for 6 months might be an indication he's lost in the outback. Open teams are starting to show up on the Claim a team page.
-
Nice going Foot. 3rd place on the global leader board also. Heck of a year.
-
Congrats Foot and I suck. Damn, need to figure out what to change. Great job all.
-
The story of my 7th place was injuries to my projected starting lineup. Look at these games missed due to injuries:
C - ~30
1B - 53
2B - 30
3B - 33
SS - 17
OF1 - 144
OF2 - 99
OF3 - 14
OF4 - 49
MI - 18
470 games
Plus Herrera and Aguilar completely dive-bombing to start the season. The most games any one player played for me was 145 by Story. Now, I did have alot of young players step up to fill the void, particularly Cavan Biggio, but the bottom line is the guys I was counting on weren't there.

It's good having you, Ruppert! You should check out our group's other leagues next year. It's a group that's been around for a long time, and they are really good at fantasy sports. A real challenge! rotoguru.com. And grats to Foot. We were all bringing knives to Foot's gunfight.
