Fine by me, (on one last no penalty drop window). Honestly, this should be standard, because doing this on 1/31 is like flying blind. FA season isn't even over by then, even without a lockout. That doesn't mean too much for position players, but it means ALOT for pitchers. A new FA acquisition could mean a different role for someone you want to keep.

Like a dumbass, I had used the roster organizer to mark all my cuts, but forgot to actually click the cut button before midnight. By the time I realized a half hour later, rosters were already locked. I don't recall how ottoneu processes such a thing, but my roster is invalid and overbudget, so if you see my cuts coming in late, this is the reason why. Apologies for the disturbance. Looking forward to another fun baseball season. Peace.
-
Yeah, it's gotten to the point where I consider 2nd place leading the league of "everyone else" because Foot is just so dominant. I had that spot for most of the season but ran out of pitching at the end (this was a common theme in all my leagues this year). Either, way, grats again, Foot!

Foot's reign of terror is extremely impressive. Congrats on another great year - maybe next year someone will knock the king off the mountain. This is one of the most fun leagues I've played in and love coming back every year trying to beat the 4x Champ. Everyone enjoy the offseason and don't bid up my players too much in arbitration! :)
-
Thank you! However, I have only won the last four as Mudville was the inaugural champion. I will be back seeking my fifth next year though...
-
Congratulations, Foot. When I created this league I didn't think one team would win the first five seasons, but here we are. Not only winning each year by a lot, but showing up on the global leaderboards. Will the streak stop? Someday, perhaps, but you look poised to make it six in a row next year.

exactly. Just clearing cap space for possible late summer trades. I had an initial cap penalty of $5 for dropping $9 Kirby Yates. After 30 days, I auctioned him and won him for $5, and dropped him immediately, saddling me with a $3 cap penalty. Now, I added him for $3 and dropped him again, leaving me with a current $2 cap penalty.
-
If you are already paying a cap penalty for the said high priced free agent, this strategy will reduce the amount of the cap penalty
-
Help me out here. I can't figure out the strategy of adding a high priced free agent and immediately dropping him.

I did it! Over the last 30 days, I outscored Foot's Diamond Dogs (by a grand total of 0.6 points). I don't expect Kluber has any more no-hitters in him, and I still haven't quite figured out the strategy for a successful Ottoneu offense, or whether it makes any sense to roster prospects, but I'll take the small victories.
-
If anyone is interested in the upside of Braves prospect Christian Pache, he can be yours for just a few buck, I'm ready to sell low.

Hey, Port Ruppert, my outlook on life and the draft this year is upbeat. I've got my two Moderna vaccine shots and avoided getting the Rona this past year. Headed to Playa del Carmen in less than a month. Five of us are currently in a slow draft that is wrapping up and since I can't beat Foot in this league, I'm hoping to beat him there. I'm not rebuilding, just reloading.

Pumped for the draft! What's everyone's outlook on their fantasy and real life teams this year?
Port Ruppert Mundy's: looking to build on last year's surprising finish, but need one or more of my young guys to take a leap to do it.
Atlanta Braves: gotta bounce back from the heartbreak in the NLCS last year, I think we'll win the division but don't see how we can get past the Dodgers or Padres without a few breaks going our way
-
Pitchers and Catchers reporting in a couple weeks! Yay baseball!
That said, any idea to when we can expect to hold the auction draft?

Hi folks - I'm the new guy here. Looking forward to playing in this league. Some of you know me and know that I am a highly active trader. I'm hoping to make a lot of moves ahead of the 1/31 deadline so if you're interested in any player on my roster, feel free to reach out or send me an offer. I move pretty quickly.
-
I won't be returning to the league. Please remove my name from the team so I no longer receive emails. Good luck next season.
-
Crap. Sorry guys. Been crazy busy at work. Not like me to miss deadlines. Totally forgot. After I lose my mind, what goes next? My sight? My hearing? Alice, there's a kid at the door selling magazines. Should I let him in?

It was the closest Ive ever been to the lead in this league so I made a move. Sadly all of my hitters decided to phone in their Septembers. I do have a championship-level pitching staff to build around for next year.

So glad I was finally able to get in an Ottoneu league, and a competitive one at that. Next year, I hope to get more out of my 3 highest paid players than I got this year out of Ohtani, Verlander, and Donaldson. Looking forward to next year.
-
Great Season all. Think this is my best finish and probably could have done better. My favorite league and ditto on make up of the league now. Already working on my deep list for next season. So tough in here and, hopefully MacKenzie Gore finally makes it to the bigs sometime this coming season. Knew it wasn't happening this one with minors not playing.
-
Thanks, SZ...I feel fortunate to come out on top of the mad scramble this season turned out to be. There were about 4-5 teams that could have won if a few things had played out a little differently. I have a feeling next year will be even more intense in this league and that's for the best. Here's to hoping it will be a more normal 162 game season, though.
-
Very fun season, gang. It was a great distraction from the crazy world around us to be able to play fantasy baseball this year, since it was in doubt at some points. Always love how engaged each of the managers are here and how seriously everyone takes it. I'll be crying over my late season collapse that prevented me from a Bronze medal all offseason but will be back next year ready to try to knock Foot off of his lofty perch.
-
Congratulations, Foot [cut and paste] Threepeat! You are not only the class of our league, you are one of the best ottoneu managers in the universe. Congrats to Slizz on your impressive second place finish. Nice to see a newcomer take his squad and put a charge into it. I think the line up of managers we have now is the strongest yet. Looking forward to next season. Be kind and place all your allocation money on the good squads. See you in March.

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. Back in the Beforetimes KDL212 and I were negotiating a trade for Justin Verlander. I offered him a dented tin of smoked salmon. He declined and man, am I happy. Yes, the salmon did cause my skin to turn red and itch for a good week, but that was better than Verlander's season.

Dunno, Nerf...looks good to me. Your team isn't lit up in red on the standings so I think you're good. Are you able to access your team and set a lineup for tomorrow?
-
I'm stuck. It keeps giving me a roster warning, even after dropping two players after my trade. I got this:
You must be under your total cap, under your total roster spots, and have at least $1 for each available roster spot up to 40.
After being at 43 of 43 roster and 405 of 415 cap. Then I dropped another player, and its still giving me the warning. Any help?

Three cheers for three three time medalists for Seattle Zen - Fab Five Freddy Freeman, Nelson Cruz and Justin Turner. Freddy and Justin broke their hamate bones 🦴 playing for SZ, Cruz simply broke records for old guys💉🧪🤷♂️. All three now have the opportunity to get on the medal stand a fourth consecutive year. Godspeed gentlemen, perhaps we will see you at the auction house in March. ⚾️

In a keep forever league like ottoneu, I am head over heels that Joe Jimenez has a SZ on his chest now. I’ve been in the market for any player who has the same first letter in his first and last name but they are pronounced totally different. If anyone else has one, I’d like to add to my collection, and as you can see from this recent trade, I’m willing to pay a pretty penny.

Keep the offers coming! Seize your chance to dethrone Foot's Diamond Dogs! Hot properties still around include Nola, Grichuk, and a couple more cheap relievers. I'll throw in Josh Donaldson and a loan if you really want to roll the dice - he should be back soon.
-
My role is "alternate training facility" for those making a run at a title has begun. I've got a few productive pieces (Abreu, Grichuk, Nola, relievers) that might be of interest, and am inclined to hit the "accept trade" button.
-
Cronenworth went for $21 ($26 bid) in league 481. Somebody thinks he's got the HOF in his future.
-
For those managers who are competitive this year and want to go for a win, treat my train wreck of a rebuilding roster as a diner menu. I've amassed a bunch of inexpensive and productive relief pitchers, and I've got Daniel Murphy/Aaron Hicks/Jesus Aguilar at $1 each, among other things. Seeking upside in return, even if that upside is a year or two off. Not really interested in $20 aging veterans, however productive they are right now.
-
Yeah its been the same for me. It feels like I'm starting an auction for a RP every day since someone gets hurt about that often. My bench and pitchers have been decimated but its just like real life MLB. Art imitating life! :)
-
Ive barely had a third of that from my entire bench, for the entire season. That says more about having barely anyone to play games than it does about any managing savvy.

Soooooo mad. I went in at 3:42 to check my lineups and saw marquez on the bench. 35 points later. I'm finally getting the hang of this interface though. Definitely enjoy this type of format with the salary cap.

Wire to Wire! I am a bit concerned that Foot is so close, though, so I would suggest a concerted effort to hamper his season. I might suggest one of you trade him a large horse for one of his players then after he takes the horse inside his city, late at night have some troops jump out of the horse and ransack the rest of his roster. It's our only hope!

SZ .. I'll never forgive you for Choo and I spent much of the night suffering from Goatlocker's over bidding me as I did you. This game definitely favors the managers with more money/fewer positions to fill versus those with little money/more positions to fill. If it makes you feel better, at least you made my team more expensive than I wanted.

Sorry about the delay, I didn't know how to end the draft. Had to poke around in the Commissioner Tools to find it, not intuitive. No players were auctioned. I think last night was the only time after the Inaugural auction that we had all twelve teams bidding all auction long. Great job all around, except for you, Taxman, with your price enforcing every time I tried to land someone :(
