I am just bummed that he's actually listed as "Scooter" this year as opposed to "Ryan" or whatever his real name is
-
* Carson Cistulli-ian faux literary background story available upon request

Did I make Scooter the first player auctioned this year?? (if so, that still bemuses me),, if not, we should pour out a few drops for his misfortune anyway https://blogs.fangraphs.com/i-feel-terrible-for-scooter-gennett/
-
DAYUM. The other night post-auction I was skimming the Free Agents, instinctively (and ignorantly) added Vazquez. Later checked into why he wasn't rostered @.@ (how did I never hear of that story??)

The draft is done, let the season/trading begin!
-
the draft will begin when either everyone logs in to the draft room or at 8:45 PM eastern time
-
Just a reminder that our draft is tonight, good luck to everyone!
-
That works!
-
Perfect, thanks!
-
Works for me. Thanks
-
looks like Monday, February 24th will be our draft date, im thinking let's meet in the middle and draft at 8:30 PM EST time.
-
I may be a bit late to join, but that works for me.
-
8pm est works well for me

2/24 works for me

This works for me

2/24 works for us! Would love to start at 8pm EST if we can, but certainly understand if time zones require the later start.
-
I agree! Iβm all for the 24th of feb

I'm up for a normal draft, but as far as the Doodle goes, I haven't done it due to the uncertainty (I'm in the States now, and can do whatever, but after March I will be 12 hours ahead again, and no idea about the work schedule. Hopefully the rest of you can agree then I will adjust accordingly)
-
probably not, i was just suggesting it as a backup plan
-
So we are doing a slow draft?

Monday 24th works for me, but out of curiosity...what survey? Did I miss something?
-
here's the link to the slow draft auction room https://www.couchmanagers.com/auctions/?auction_id=318 and looking at the doodle survey Monday, February 24th is the best date for our draft, it's a little earlier than we probably want but it's the only night that works for everyone (the last time I checked).
-
Now that we're in the doldrums, check out this crazy nugget I stumbled upon in Lance Lynn's 2019 game log. In his 3 starts at Houston, he gave up 3, 2 and 2 HR (2.33 HR/GS). In his 30 other starts, he gave up 0.46 HR/GS, with only one multi-HR game, at NYY. Maybe it's a small sample fluke, or maybe...

I vote for a live draft

oh OK I see it now (under the Tools icon). Getting used to the new look... there's a handy notepad now!
-
Interesting... Where did the "$" link go? I don't see it on the home page anymore
-
We are already at five owners with 22 or fewer players with two more at 26. We'll have a better idea after 1/31.

Both styles are interesting for various reasons, but imho the slow one works well especially for first-year leagues, starting from scratch. Those can be a nightmare to try to bite off at one sitting. But in this case, most of us are keeping 25-30 players, a Live Auction won't take very long. Just a matter of agreeing on the date...
-
I joined a mock on couch managers but it hasn?t started yet. I am so ready for baseball!!!!
-
If we are still against doing a slow draft after seeing the one for league 1124, then our backup plan will be picking a date that works for the most teams and the teams that can't do that date will have to get a proxy.
-
My preference is doing a regular auction through Ottoneu, but I'm just trying to come up with a backup plan in case we can't decide on a date that works for everyone. Mithril Hall and I are actually participating in a slow draft this weekend. I'll post the link to the auction room on the league board so everyone can get a chance to see how a slow draft works.
-
I?ve never done a slow draft, but it sounds like a good alternative if not all of us can do the same time for a regular draft
-
As much as i like the fast auction, a slow draft is probably more practical. At least 3-4 people will probably get screwed on the date and will have to get a proxy. Personally I would rather do a slow draft over a proxy. Besides, a slow draft has its perks.

I'm fine either way. Slow drafts are simple. You can spend 5 minutes a day on them for 4 to 5 days versus blocking out...is it 3 or 4 hours on a redraft? It is brutal.
-
We would strongly prefer a real time draft both because we like it a lot better as a draft experience and because a slow draft would end up taking so much more time/attention as opposed to getting it all out of the way in one night. I already spend enough (i.e. way too much) time preparing for drafts - my wife and four children would definitely prefer not to string that out over an even longer period of time.
-
I have never done a slow auction but what could go wrong?
-
Strong preference for the regular, real time draft. Would feel different if this were a snake, but since auction I go real time.

I'm open to a slow draft. I am terrible at doing fast auctions, so maybe I will be slightly less terrible if we slow things down.
-
I know that we have talked about this in the past, but with the league having some turnover this year I thought I'd ask if anyone was against doing a slow draft on couchmanagers.com for our auction? Im just asking to give of us an option in case we don't have a certain date or time that works for everyone in the league. If you've any questions about a slow draft feel free to send me a message.
-
PS im sorry if I don't have your name listed, I just wasn't sure what your first name was and didn't want to be wrong lol but if you could update that sheet that'd be awesome!
-
I don't know if anyone noticed but Niv created a feature where you can leave notes on players and also notes about other owners in the league on the message page so I thought it'd be a good idea to have that owner's real name in those notes... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/128NGjF_z-vS9qx23Dx-d6V3jXMr8EDJBDSSickDsOqU/edit#gid=0
-
I have gone ahead and created the doodle survey to schedule our draft date (we will worry about the exact time of the draft once we have a date picked)... https://doodle.com/poll/3bcynki2hn8wkxuz
-
Just a heads up the keeper deadline is approaching and if you haven't paid your league fee yet make sure you pay it before 01/31 or your team will be an expired team
-
I think that would be more work and not really solve the problem. And I'm not sure it is a good idea to force teams to only trade players within certain ranges and that is what that would do.

Could we cap loans at like$20 per loan? Interesting comments.

I like the vote off system idea
