Nah, Ruben will give him an extension cause he saw him hit a HR today.
-
Also, it does have the beneficial effect of lowering the minimum bid on subsequent auctions for other people in the league. There's someone sitting in FA in another league that would surely get scooped up by SOMEONE if his original owner would just pull this move to cut his starting bid price, but he won't, and so an above average hitter sits out there unused.
-
Brilliant! I agree it's sort of weird that Ottoneu allows it, but they do. Of course there is the 30 day window in which you can neither start an auction on a cut player nor bid in someone else's auction.
-
Maybe the Phillies should try it. Cut Howard @ $25m, resign him for $12.5m, cut him, etc...

Oh, well that's dumb. It's also kinda messed up that people are taking advantage of it.
-
It's a flaw in the system that I think needs to be fixed
-
If you have a $8 player and drop him you have a $4 penalty. Pivk him up and drop him you have a $2 penalty. Again, $1 penalty.

-
Wat. If you need cap space then why are you starting auctions on players if you don't intend to keep them?
-
Cap space.
-
Ok, I gotta ask. What's up with winning bids and then immediately cutting them? What's your deal?

Thanks 2G1C … classy move. Certainly this was well within the rules, and solidly in the grey area at worst, yet I think it was worth the discussion simply due to the possible unintended impact. Also, I didn’t mean to imply that part of my concern was because it was involving the 1st place team … that was irrelevant to the validity of the concern itself, it just happened to be a detail of circumstance that made it all the more visible and potentially impactful. Cheers.

Holy crap, did a potential conflict just get resolved by reason and general goodwill ON THE INTERNET???
-
It seems every year we have a trade like this, and if we were to sit on our hands and let it pass without conversation, nothing is gained. Again, my personal policy for trades is based on either collusion or experience, and I feel as though this would fall into the latter. Any half-hearted complaints about good teams getting unfairly better outside the scope of those two boundaries, however, I'm going to dismiss without care.
-
I canceled the deal and resent it based entirely on Poof's argument. I don't care if any one team (my team or otherwise) is a massive winner in any one deal in the near or short term, however I feel as though Rizz's inexperince, though he has been one of the more active members, it took me a good two seasons to understand the value of cap room. Yes, he was using it as currency and he was desperate to unload Kinsler and Upton for good young talent, he may have made the $ amount a little smaller.
-
If not, no worries - all is good either way.
-
Having said that, I'm not in favor of vetoing it because I have a rather laissez faire attitude about fantasy baseball, and I'm not going to compromise my views just because they happen to be against my short term interest. Having said THAT, I hope 2G1C will realize that Rizz made a bit of a mistake and will voluntarily reduce the cap figure to something more standard, like the difference in salaries exchanged.
-
My view is similar to Chin's. Trading expensive talent and cap space for cheap prospects is a perfectly reasonable basis for transactions, and the talent on both sides is reasonable. But based on this trade and on private trade discussions with Rizz, I think he doesn't have a good handle on how cap space is used in the context of this game, and made an excessively generous offer. There is just no reason to send $100 to 2G1C, and I doubt 2G1C would have demanded that much to get this done.
-
I don't believe there was collusion here, and I have no problem with teams paying down overpriced players to make them tradeable, but $40 was enough to put this trade through and pay these guys down, and $40, while a lot, is at least in the ballpart of reasonable. It's the extra $60 that just seems ... I don't know ... iffey and unnecessary, and fairly significantly changes the balance of the game. I get that cap space is an asset too ... maybe I'm overreacting, I don't know.

I made it very clear that I'm trying to dump the cash cow that is updated and an aging Kinsler. After more than 20 trade rejections I knew I was going to lose. I'm sorry but this trade option was the only way it would have worked since Upton is insanely overpriced. Especially for a team that doesn't really need him. And I'm the one who offered it, I knew what I was doing.
-
Since you guys seem to be related, I would think it's just a hook up. Can't believe you would take advantage of your own relative to the tune of $43.
