I should also point out the message board in that league is thrilled the Commish booted you. I will also point out I did not want to help out as Commish if it meant I was limited to post on the message board about a very unfair trade. I would rather just be an owner then. Just play this no winning money for fun league in a competitive way and stop being a complete jerk to everyone. You'll find it to be more enjoyable and much more pleasant.
-
I should probably point out that unknowingly until your post, I am also in that other league you insulted. You were a complete jerk in that league as well. I should also point out that you got booted out off that league. Not because of the silly trade, but because evidentially your goal in these leagues is too anger or insult everyone else that is just trying to get a little enjoyable entertainment out of playing in the league.

I'm sorry I brought it up. My point was to to show I wasn't a hypocrite by arguing for my trade to go through and I wasn't trying to take advantage of another owner.
-
You think your valuation of Amed Rosario is some type of hack. Cute. You like the controversy because everyone turns their heads. You don't realize that the biggest component of this game is luck. So you think you're some type of hot shot for being in second place-- the team you inherited. You'll make stupid deals until the stupid deals catch up with you. And eventually you'll truly humble up rather than this dumb fuck "mr. Humble guy" masquerade you're putting on.
-
Poof- I undoubtedly need to get a life. It's 10 PM on Friday night and I'm watching the Phillies and posting on a fake baseball message board. I'm not sure why you're bringing that up now though. And I should probably point out that you've already been stripped of your co-commissioner role because of your message board posts. I'm going to respect our commissioners request (both because I like the league and respect the commissioner) and let you insult me without responding in kind.
-
Your cool. Get a life fella.
-
I'm actually in a 3rd league where I haven't done anything controversial. At least not yet.
-
468. It got 5 vetoes but still passed and I managed to get into it with a couple people on that message board also, though I was on the Peavy side of the argument (just in base you guys thought I was a hypocrite for arguing for my trade in this league). That league is pretty crummy- not active and no one seems to have a clue what they are doing with the same two teams always winning. I'm new to Ottoneu so new to all of these leagues.
-
Also insane. What's the league #? I have to see this with my own two eyes.
-
Just for comparison purposes, in one of my other leagues I just traded for Amed Rosario. He is $6 in that league (and I also got Archie Bradley (at $1). To get him I had to trade Madison Bumgarner ($50), Ian Desmond ($21) A Ramos ($7) Yu Darvish ($27) and Christian Yelich ($32).

Oh- and Poof, thanks for campaigning to get that 1st trade vetoed. It saved me from a -20 point performance by Herrera and a -30 pointer from Brad Hand!
-
I might stay in the league just to see how badly Peavy beats Poof next year.
-
Six vetoed, three no votes, three approved. Two of those approved were probably involved in the trade. The biggest flaw in Ottoneu. Why in the world should the trading parties votes count. Majority of league six votes vetoed this trade. That's how it should be. I'm not in the hunt, so won't affect me. But I just hate to see situations where another owner trying to play honest and fairly, and has no way to overcome a gift handed to the competitor.

I have reached out to both parties and am satisfied that they are acting in good faith. Veto the trade if you do not like it. But please act like adults--which I assume you all are--and please stop the ad hominem attacks on the message boards. This dead horse cannot be beaten any longer.
-
I got ripped off in trade when I started playing Ottoneu. And someone told me I'd be a lot better off if I shopped around. And I moved on and now I try to shop around.
-
Peavy-- you're the one who got ripped off. I'm sorry, but ABS is only defending you because you were an easy target and he wants the trade to go through.
-
I don't buy the ethics argument by Peavy either. What's 'ethical' is for him to pursue the best possible deal to his team, not to suck up to the owner who previously made a trade with that got vetoed.
-
It sure would be nice and a lot more fun if there was just some good honest competition around. This getting a stud for a unproven prospect sucks. You need more unproven prospects to be worthy of gaining/trading a proven top MVP pitcher. There's a reason why the salary gap between these players is huge. I understand playing for the future with prospects, but when doing that and trading a Kershaw type player, you need multiple prospects. Many prospects don't pan out.
-
Put Manaea in there and that would make it more respectable. Or how bout, see what other offers are out there too. The trade getting vetoed has nothing to do with ethical. Your job as an owner in this league is to be competitive by attempting to get the best possible return you can get. Your not trying to do this, which seems very odd to me that you wouldn't entertain what's out there.
-
Poof- I do not know Peavy and there is nothing fishy going on. He likes Rosario, I like Kershaw it's that simple.
-
Horrible trade again. All owners, please vote again what you feel about the new trade. I guess these two owners are determined to make some sort of lopsided trade. I'm beginning to suspect something fishy going on. Maybe you guys know each other or something. Seems like a hookup. You don't give up Kershaw for that small of a return. Your not being very competitive or fair to the rest of the league if you do.
-
This trade looks weak now, and it will continue to look weak unless Rosario becomes a perennial 5 win player. Which is possible, but very very unlikely. Why not see if someone else can give you a prospect of a similar caliber and a couple young big leaguers? You'll never know what interest is out there until you ask around.
-
We're talking about a well priced Clayton Kershaw here. Rosario is an ok prospect but he's just a prospect and the hit rate on prospects is very low.
-
The point is not that there "should be a rule that every player has to make it onto the trade block before anyone trades him". The point is that this is a terrible trade and that it's in Peavy's own interest to shop around.
-
So if Rosario gets Kershaw, what would Lindor or Seager fetch-the '27 Yankees? Veto.
-
I am in desperate need of a good outfielder. Trout and Keirmier both being broken. If anyone has a comparable guy they are willing to trade, hit me up.
-
Going to weigh in. I play in 3 other leagues. All of those--and this one--it is rare for trade blocks to be updated. Most trades are made by private messages like "hey, what do you want for player x?" We can make a rule that no player can be traded unless offered to the whole league. But that seems very restrictive. Peavy is not new to this league. I also would have wanted Kershaw and kicked myself for not being more proactive. That said, voting is there for a reason and that is the fi

I don't feel like I really need to explain my trades to the league. I pretty much feel I should be allowed to run my team as I wish. As for opening up Kershaw or any of the others in the trade to the trading block... I don't think it's entirely ethical to trade them to others after they voted the trade I agreed to down.
-
It seems as if you're trying to save face, and it's stupid, because you're being grossly taken advantage of.
-
Peavy, I'm baffled that you wouldn't put Kershaw on your trade block or wait for other offers.
-
Kershaw for Rosario is an absurd steal, especially with the loan.
-
I'm vetoing this trade too.

I sure can't lighten up much more than I currently am. My team is terrible. I will continue to compete though. and if/when I start to play for next year, I'll try to make sure I compete by trying to get the maximum return I can get if I trade a Kershaw type player. Hell, I don't have one though. I can't keep my team off the 10 day DL. Trades should sting for both owners involved. That's when you know we got good competition.
-
I hope that all owners will never listen to the lighten up, it's a $10 league mess. That mindset would make this league not fun at all. Being competitive keeps it fun. Competing with other good competitive owners should be the main thing anyone should want playing this format. Otherwise, why would you ever sign up. It's not a money thing. It's about good fair competition, with a group of baseball fans trying their best and may the best owner win for fun.
-
Thanks to all owners for voting. Very impressed with this group of owners and the way everyone remains active. I think the votes are important to keep fair balance in the league. It helps that owners can see votes whether the trade is vetoed or allowed(either way). Helps to keep the league strong.
-
That is a horrible trade. Al least three keepers Kershaw side for some barely average players on the other.
