I am good with 2/25 7pm.
-
Same here Rizzo. I like AM! I would agree with 7 pm though
-
7pm or am? I'm cool with it either way.
-
How about Sunday 2/25 at 7 central time!
-
I am pretty flexible as far as dates and if it ends up being a time I can't make it I am sure I can fine a proxy on Slack.
-
I've emailed the doodle poll link to the remaining owner's and am hoping we can get the draft nailed down soon. It already looks like there are no slots that work for this first poll since there are currently 8 participants but 7 is the most we have on the same slot. We may either need an owner or two to try to be flexible if possible and agree to a time that works for the most people or redo a new poll for a different week. Thanks!
-
Yeah, let’s get a date set. I am ready to auction. 24 or 48 shouldn’t matter. The people that are engaged check the league every day and if a trade is that out of whack it is know instantly. It didn’t matter last year. The bad trade went thru with a 48 hour window. You just have to be active and vote.
-
I need a break from the foot of snow on the ground. I’m down for drafting. Need to think spring.
-
Let's pick a draft day and time!
-
By the way, we actually did have that lopsided trade situation last year. It was vetoed, then sent again in two different trades made within a day. That was voted 6 against to 1 approve. It's hard enough to get a trade vetoed or to get owners to vote. We don't need another handicap added to make it more difficult when needed. Last years trade is a big reason why this change is a bigger deal that appears. Especially to me anyway.
-
I don't want a situation where we try it out and then go back and change it again. What determines to change it back. Trades are viewed differently, how do you police a new change. Too many question marks. Make the rule defined and keep it. The 48 hour option again makes for the most fair and defined way.
-
either way. I think there is more value to the league to keep it at 48. I know this seems like a minor change. But like Rizz said, I don't want that one time we have a bad trade that it does come into play. I can't see a reason to change it that actually benefits the better of the league. Leave it at 48. Since it's not a big deal anyway, let's keep it where it actually could benefit the league.
-
I think the extra day to wait can help more than hurt. 24 hours can hurt more than help. The fact that most owners don't vote is more evidence that we should keep it at 48 hours as well. This allow more fairness for an owner to have time for the opportunity to choose to vote. from the messages I have seen, I believe we have more owners that firmly would rather keep 48 hours as an option versus the owners that are firmly wanting 24 hours time. Most 24 hour owners have stated thy are good

Second, while rare, it at least provides protection to the league for that lopsided trade that does need the veto vote. More time allows for a fair chance to vote. I am sure there are other valid points that can be made either way. But overall, I believe there is more value for the league to keep it at 48. It's not that big of a deal for a trading owner to have to wait one more day to get the new player. Most MLB teams don't have their new player available for a few days also.
-
I don't see where trying it out adds any value to the league. There are no significant reasons to try it out that makes sense. There are many reasons that add value or make sense for the better of the league to leave it at 48 hours approval time. First, simply adding time for an owner that doesn't log in daily to see that a trade has happened. This allow at least the choice to vote or not.
-
Most owners don't bother to vote on trades anyway. Let's try it out and if it seems like it is a problem, we can change it back.
-
Reposting the link to the doodle poll for the draft date/time so it appears at the top of the messages for a little bit longer: https://doodle.com/poll/3gny8zhfw6mcm8re Thanks to those who have completed it so far! There are still 5 owners we need to hear from to have everyone covered.
-
I think those are fair points. I don't feel real strong either way, just prefer the 24 hrs. I don't think there's 1 right and 1 wrong answer, just a matter of preference and the risk of an awful trade not getting vetoed if everyone doesn't have a chance to see it in the first 24 hrs. I'd encourage other owners who haven't voted/spoken up to weigh in still but think it would still be more for 24 hrs than 48 hrs.
-
I'm not going to lose any sleep if we go to 24 hours. I get it. I just want the whole issue laid out. I just Rand Paul'd this shit. haha
-
What makes the 48 hour rule the best-it provides the extra time that COULD become necessary if a player cannot check for that one day. The only reason we want 24 hours is to expedite trades quickly. That's fair for those members. But, this is the kind of rule that comes around and bites us in the ass because someone is on a plane or has an emergency of some sort and would have voted against a trade if he/she had time. In isolation 24 hrs is good. In the aggregate? I like the assurance of 48 hrs.
-
I don't care to go back much further or in season to analyze the number of votes but it seems at least half the league hasn't been voting anyways. I do realize in-season there may be more participation, especially early on when everyone still has a chance, but don't personally see a huge impact to reduce to 24 hours. Plus when players are cut, there is only a 24 hour window to make a waiver claim and no one seems to have an issue with that.
-
My 2 cents: If teams are actively trading and being as competitive and active as possible I think they should be able to have the players they are acquiring available to them a day sooner rather than giving less active owners more time to review something not likely to be vetoed anyways. It seems most MLB players traded are available to their new teams the next day or so. I just looked back through most of the January trades and they generally ranged between 7-9 people abstaining every time.
-
I didn't really think of how 24hrs could be an issue in terms of being accessible to everyone. I am happy with either, especially if 24 hours is too short for some people to see it. I have email notifications and will likely be logging in daily regardless so it won't affect me as it might affect others.
-
While I understand the general excitement to make a trade and then get the players squared away on our rosters, the 48 hour rule is the fair route. I vote no on the 24 hour review.
-
Honestly I see nothing wrong with waiting 48 hours for a trade to go through so more owners have a chance to see it. I'm fine leaving it at 48 hours.
-
As of this time message sent, there are four owners that haven't logged in to see the actual vote was requested. It may pass anyway, but be aware of this when you are making changes to rules in the league.
-
I'm also in favor of waiting longer than a day to get response to a vote before actually making the change to a rule in the future. I'm sure there are other owners that don't even know we had a vote on something. Not a lot going on in February to log in every day. At least check the logged in activity to make sure all have logged in to see.
-
I vote no to 24 hour waiting period. Nothing wrong with 48 hours and not everyone logs in within 24 hours. Example is this vote. Sure would like for you to get response from rest of league instead of making a change in a 24 hour period. I see that six have said yes, but there are six votes still out there(five now). Little quick on the change there Commish. Probably doesn't matter anyway. I've only seen one trade vetoed in Ottoneu anyway. I am in favor of more time for owners to see.
-
ok. I changed the trade review. now, more rapid fire trades than ever before.
-
Yes on 24 hour trade review.
-
I vote Yes to 24hr trade waiting period.

Here is the link to the poll regarding the draft date/time: https://doodle.com/poll/3gny8zhfw6mcm8re Please put your team name down and check all of the time slots that may work for you so we have a better chance of finding a time that works for everyone. We want to try for end of Feb/beginning of March and if nothing works here, we can try again for a different week. The poll should display in your time zone. Let me know if there are any questions/issues. Thanks!

Yes to 24 hour trades

I vote Yes

I vote yes.

There is an available rule change regarding 24 hour instead of 48 hour waiting periods for trades to go through. Yeah or Nay to that potential change?
-
Trying...has graciously agreed to take on co-commissioner duties and set up a poll for the draft. Thank you Dustin.
-
Stud Foundations's trade block has been updated!
-
Thanks! As far as draft I am available pretty much evenings and weekends, in EST. So 6pm on EST, and Weekends I don't have any specific commitments that I can see at the moment if we reserve far enough in advance.
-
Welcome to the league 18.12.
-
So great! If you want to send your cuts to me I can do them so you won't have a penalty.
-
From one new owner to another, Welcome Aboard!!!
-
Welcome War! Good to have you on board.
-
Welcome New War owner. You'll like this group. It's a good league. Just get ready to play for second place though. The trophy is mine this year.
-
Hello! Just claimed 18.12 - New to Ottoneu so I am wrapping my head around a few things and then will make my cuts! Let me know if there is anything else I should know, but I know fantasy and dynasty leagues pretty well outside of this format.
-
Marked 18.12 as abandoned. If anyone knows someone looking for a team let them know. I would prefer to fill the vacancy before setting the draft. I'll wait a week and then we can set the date.
-
I can't do Feb. 24th, Feb. 25th, March 10th, March 21st, or March 31st. Pretty much open to anything else.
-
I'm fine with drafting early or late. I would prefer a weekend unless we do it late on a weeknight (west coast so I'm not even home until about 8:30 PM ET)
-
I'd prefer a weekend myself. If it's a weeknight, I need later and I can't do Monday or Friday nights.
