August 16, 2025 3:38 PM : Hader (shoulder) said Friday that he will require a ramp-up period of about three weeks once he's cleared to resume a throwing program following a three-week shutdown, meaning he likely won't pitch again in the regular season, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Hader was diagnosed Friday with a left capsule shoulder strain, and though he remains optimistic that he'll be ready to contribute by the time the postseason rolls around, fantasy managers in redraft leagues can feel comfortable cutting bait with him while he faces a projected six-week recovery timeline. Bryan Abreu received the first crack at closing duties during Wednesday's win over the Red Sox in Hader's absence, and he appears to be the frontrunner to lead the Astros in saves the rest of the way.
