The four waivers are now undone. As you were...!
-
Thanks for clarifying, Commish!
-
Niv Shah posted to the community 37 minutes ago: "If your league had some waiver claims processed from the end of the 2019 season, please feel free to use commissioner tools to undo them. I’ll make sure to cancel all active waiver claims at the end of each season in the future." I will undo the four tonight.
-
Rule VII.a states, "After the keeper deadline and before the auction draft, teams may not cut or trade any players." A waiver would normally commence when a player is cut, but given that no player can be cut or traded from our keeper deadline (Jan 31) through our auction, no waiver will also take place. However, there were obviously 4 unprocessed waiver claims submitted on Sept 29 (before the end of the season) which were processed today. I will clarify with Ottoneu experts, so stay
-
Something is wrong we shouldn’t be able to do waivers yet
-
How are waiver claims being processed???
-
Trash Can, send me a list of your desired cuts. I’m prone to cutting TC a break. Others, send me your thoughts.
-
I need to cut some guys. I've been out of the country and didn't have a chance to finalize my roster.
-
Same. A competitive team with plenty of options in the draft!

Sano to Drugs team looks good to me.
-
I'll refrain from moving forward for one more day to allow others to comment on the Sano to Drugs team, then we can start looking for new team owners. Thanks to those who commented!
-
It's a project but so is every team I've ever taken over. When you open it up, let us know if you want us to recruit. One round of cuts free to the new owners, right?
-
Agreed...looks good!
-
Sano looks like a team now! I'm good with that outcome.

I'm going to add 21 players to the Sano to Drugs team with a total salary of about $250; so you may seem some system messages, etc. Please review the player set and salaries. I'll take into consideration your comments and adjust so we have some consensus (I don't expect 100% agreement) going forward. My goal is to give the next owner a competitive team of reasonably priced players. When the team's set, I'll start looking for 2 new owners. Once they're on board, we'll set the draft date.
-
When's the draft?
-
I was waiting for the “Sounds Hinkie to me” pun since it kind of is. Whatever commish decides to do is cool- just seemed like the cuts happening before he put together the Sano squad might be helpful in providing more options to move.
-
That's a pretty good idea...at least to drop it to under the $400 cap and what not. Is it fair for the next owner though? Maybe really target super obvious cuts?
-
Maybe consider moving a few guys from Hinkie squad so some of the free agent pool attractive players can be left there?
-
You can set the inflation value manually on the TeamTotals sheet, cell B23. I'm setting it at 16% so that the new Sano owner will get some value for the players on the team. I'll be trying to fill out a starting lineup but not much bench if any. That way the new owner can participate in the draft. Questions? Let me know your thoughts - i'm happy to tweak the approach.
-
Here's how I will be populating the Sano to Drugs team to find an owner. I plan to build a team of 25+ using FAs, as we discussed earlier in the offseason. I will use "inflated value" in the Ottoneu Surplus Calculator to determine player salaries. Why? Each league determines what they will pay for players and when it's more than the calculator's value, it is called inflation. Our league's inflation is 32%; i.e., our salaries average 32% higher than the calculator's value.
-
If anyone's looking for another league, I've got two openings in another league, with an offline 5 MiLB. Hit me up if interested...
-
Don't forget to renew your team for 2020 ($20) by Jan 31st. Beyond that your team is frozen plus it's a signal that you're not interested in playing this next year - which I hope is not the case! Looking forward to the draft and the upcoming season.
-
Does anyone know Chris Wolfe, owner of The Sam Hinkie Squad? He hasn't been here since Nov 15. I've emailed him several times to see if he's playing this next year but no answer yet. If you know Chris, help me find out. Thanks.
-
Please let me know if any of you will not be playing this next year. Thanks. Getting the fever to play!
-
For info/explanation regarding the cap at the keeper deadline, check out rule VII.c. We will be having our annual draft on a date TBD before the start of the season. For league dates, check out the “finances & calendar” tab under the league heading. If you have questions, send me a message. Happy to help.
-
Reminder: by the keeper deadline all teams must be under the cap ($360 + # of players on the roster). Best wishes!
-
Happy Holidays, all. Just to let you know, after our Keeper Deadline (jan 31), I'm planning on staffing the "Sano to Drugs" team with FAs that are available, including those that you may have cut. Keep in mind then that some of those FAs may not be available for the auction draft this Spring. Hopefully I will be able to put together a competitive and attractive team, so we can get an owner for team #12.

Gotta be careful with those, just ask Correa :)

Come one come all, my Max Scherzer is available. Not looking for a crazy return on him, just can't afford him as much as I'd like to and looking to find him a good home that will take care of him and give him back massages when necessary.

@Formerly, every player's salary goes up by $2 ($1 for minor leaguers) apart from arbitration so that is probably the cause.

Question on the salary cap...I was under $400 at the end of the season. Arbitration added around $25 to my team but somehow my team salary is at $462 now. Not sure how that happened?
-
A gentle reminder that arbitration ends this Thursday, Nov 14. I just got mine done so I understand if like me there are other things vying for your attention.
-
Arbitration is now Arby's season - gotta love auto correct!
-
I think launch is right - draft pool should be healthy this first full year. Everyone will be over salary once the Arby's season passes. Maybe commish makes the best 20 player team he can for Sano from the draft pool using pre raise/pre arb prices. No dispersal draft needed or at worst we each have to lose one player to a dispersal draft if team looks too bad. I don't think it would though and who expects a superstar team when you join an existing league anyway, right?
-
I will be back
-
What about an expansion-type draft? Each team could protect 10 players (or whatever number, I'm just throwing 10 out there) and Sano could draft from the unprotected players at their current value. Maybe something like he can take no more than 3 players from any one team. That would give him a starting point and the most anyone else would lose is three good but not great keepers.
-
same, if we have to do a dispersal draft, not the end of the world. i do feel that our FA pool will be pretty big though given the mid-season draft and some prices being super wild. But if someone is leaving that's the easiest solution.

I certainly plan on being back. I don't love the idea of a dispersal draft, but also understand that FA's being thrown back in the pool just may not be enough. Open to talking through it in the offseason for sure though.
-
is anyone not planning on returning? this could always just become a 10 team league if there are people heading out now that the season's over

Sano options: Seems like none of us would drop a player with excess value and if we did, they'd go to the draft pool anyway where deals are hard to find. Not sure no players and a $400 budget is attractive to a new owner under these circumstances but you guys are smarter than me- first year guy. If we can get a new owner without having to sacrifice our own valuable pieces then of course that sounds good.

Where are these badges?

There are Ottoneu badges available to a number of you. I checked with Niv Shah (Ottoneu creator): the badges that have seasonal goals (e.g., Max Effort, Jester, 1530 Club, All Aces) are available to us, using prorated goals (i.e., [goals/162]*113). Check it out. Let me know if you need more info.

Interesting thought, Scrambled. We could watch the quantity and quality of the free agent pool, and if it seems doable, start advertising for a new member, touting this approach...
-
In theory, wouldn't arbitration fix this issue? Players will inevitably be dropped due to high salaries. Sano would then get some of those dropped players at a discount (most likely) as the team did not absorb any arbitration hits or inflation.

Thanks for the congrats. Bat Flip had a tremendous run at the end; gave me a scare. Scrambled et al: regarding getting an owner for "Sano to Drugs," could we apply an approach similar to expansion drafts?
-
I second that on both counts, Wraith Squad. Thanks to everyone here for making it fun and competitive and good luck!
