Perhaps a discussion left for Slack, but I wonder what the effects would be of juts having P spots in the lineup. A lot more RP use, I would suspect, but I would imagine that would have some interesting market effects on all P, no?
-
I just keep the RP's there this week because they are the only guys I have left to play. Makes them easier to see/interchange. They don't score unless in the RP slot.

There is no functional purpose, it's just an indication of a pitcher's role and is probably an artifact of the way things used to work with defined SP/RP eligibility.
-
Every pitcher is eligible for SP and RP slots, but only score points when they are actually used in that role (RP placed at SP do not score points unless they actually start the game).
-
What's the purpose of designating them SP and RP then?
-
Every pitcher is eligible for both SP and RP slots.
-
Another programming/rules thing I don't understand: how are Ken Giles and Mark Melancon eligible for SP slots?

As of this morning I have Greg winning 20,421 to 20,270. Just wanted to try to make it interesting in the end. Good luck!

Jose Fernandez was one of my favorite pitchers to watch, and maybe one of the best prospect debuts of all time. He'll be missed. Awful news.

Unbelievable tragedy with Fernandez this am. Hard to believe and so, so sad.

Should be able to change the date in the URL to yesterday's standings. I'll check when I get home later today

Is there any record of what the standings looked like before yesterday's games?
-
Last night's game for Grandal would have been #164, but only 163 show up today. His stats showed on the live page but not sure they were added to the standings.

One that I've paid zero attention to lol, I'm actually shocked I'm not in last. I'm a part of two close races at the top in 183 and 440 so I don't always get around to this one more than once a week or so.

One that I'm happy not to be a part of!

There's a race at the very bottom of this league, too...

This is still my favorite league....fun to watch this title race. I'm also still trying to catch PPI purely out of pride. Finishing top-7 sounds better than finishing bottom-5, lol.
-
The IP cap wasn't always "soft". I think Niv changed it maybe 2 seasons ago? Here's the rule: "The innings maximum is a soft cap, meaning on the day a team goes over the 1500 IP limit, all the pitchers played that day will receive credit."

I vaguely remember some chatter about this a while back, but that method is a terrible way to administer the IP cap, IMO.
-
I have Greg winning by 250. But it is a fun race, for once, in September. My entire goal for weeks has been to get close enough where *maybe* I can line up enough SP on the day I go over 1,500 to make a difference, but that's a stretch, and they'd still have to pitch well. We'll see what happens...

My 1944/1500 pace projections have Greg taking it by 305 pts

*assuming they don't all suffer season ending injuries first
-
Gonna be a real treat to see how my pitching staff finishes off this choke job
-
I'm excited to see a race like this down the stretch finally.

I really yelled at myself when I saw you guys got him for $2 in brinksmanship. I didn't even realize he was up for auction. I love the swing. Saw him in the futures game. Good bat speed.
-
Wow, heavy action on Ryon Healy.

Durham over LS in 2011 by 753 points; LS over Knights in 2012 by 811 points; War over Chiefs in 2013 by 1,082 points; LS over Chiefs in 2014 by 772 points; Durham over EP in 2015 by 1,269 points.

#222...

I was ahead of Greg by 1 point on September 1st. As of today I'm down 150 and my dashboard says I'll lose by 500 by season's end. Would still represent the closest race (1 vs. 2) we've ever had in our league.
