Just FYI for everyone the starting lineup that is announced for Cubs-Brewers isn't matching up with the Otto notifications (noticed it with Seiya Suzuki). Might want to turn off the auto-bench feature for today, do not know how widespread that is
-
Hey maybe the Twins can fix Pagán AND Paddack and we both win?
-
A conservative estimate, no? What I'm saying is resolve the arrow of time to go back and claim Alcala for $3, who I impatiently cut loose.
-
wait are you saying DO bid $15 for Alcala or DON'T?
-
You all could have had Alacala for $3 a few days ago instead of bidding him to $15 now... I suppose, since we're all loaded with extra cap cash like real MLB owners, that it doesn't really matter?
-
Oh and Kings...I'll send ya $15 bucks for Burns, Hendricks, Ohtani, Boegs, Goldy, or Merrifield!? :)) Hit me up
-
Once again you're giving me too much credit Chris ;)) and/or you're gonna keep scaring people off from wanting to deal with me thinking I have some sneaky intel. Haha. You know I love wheeling and dealing...and always looking to tweak the squad. Didn't a wise man once say, "if you're not first, your last", or something like that ;)
-
If Kevin wasn't as sharp, I would be concerned about the equivalency of those last two trades but I know better and have seen way too many people follow market prices and pre-season ranks off a cliff. That's what the season's for, and in two days we can (finally) get on with that.
-
Just throwing this out there but if anyone wants to send me an offer to free up $15 plus in cap space I’m all for it. Haven’t seen that much in this league before…
-
Sounds like the perfect conditions for a trade, no? Re Strider, ass kicking by the Yanks aside, it's not as if a $2 bid would have been beyond the pale either.
-
Such a stupid rule in an existing league. Lol
-
fwiw I didn't think i was going to be successful
-
Yeah, that's the Rule V.b screw job (or not, depending upon one's perspective): "..(i)f two teams are tied or the regular season has not begun yet, a coin flip will determine who is awarded the player." Since the regular season hasn't begun yet, ties are broken via coin flip. I'd call it the flip side of getting jobbed in season by the standings based tiebreaker, when there's early season flux.
-
That’s definitely not it. I finished WAY behind him lol.
-
I’m guessing whoever got him finished lower in the standings last year and that tie-breaker carried over.
-
I have a question…how do waivers work? I nominated Strider for $1 and somehow lost the bid on him because someone else bid $1. Doesn’t make sense.
-
Just need to hang in there for a few months, Paul; no one else is adding literally the top hitter and pitcher to their squad in June for a second half run (one hopes).
-
Hopefully they're both back by the All-Star Break, but that's a significant amount of lost production to overcome. I've definitely got my work cut out for me, that's for sure!
-
Cmon man, you got lots of good players (looking at your squad)...Tatis and Degrom will be back at some point and you have enough other talent to keep you afloat. Or, hey, I'm always open for business. I would be willing to negotiate for Tatis and Degrom ;) hit me up
-
It's awesome when your season is almost over before it even begins lol.
-
Also note that we are going with 24 hour trade review (due to Kevin's lobbying efforts) but the in-season auction clock remains at 48 hours (bc it must, as the setting is fixed). If you want to see that changed the best I can suggest is to lobby Niv directly (email or Community). There is a Wishlist category for the latter; the best I could find was this aborted discussion from 2019: https://community.ottoneu.com/t/free-agent-auction-period/6231

Here to remind you all (hopefully you don't need it) that we're set to auction tomorrow at 1pm EDT (noon CDT). Seems with the exception of poor Mike Conforto and that dastardly QO that most players have settled in and we have some tantalizing new info on lineups and such coming out of Arizona and Florida. See you all then (and if not, please give me a heads up).

Thanks Tony, I'm going to preliminarily set the draft for 1 pm EDT (noon CDT) on 3/27. Unless someone absolutely cannot do that date/time (like Kyle's bachelor party weekend, of which, congratulations and condolences all the same) , let's lock that in and see you all then.
-
Noon central? I'm down. I like to consolidate my bad decisions anyway so two drafts will be fun

Kevin, we're probably set for 24 hour trade review. I was just trying to be (overly) accommodating. Josh voiced a preference for 48 hours, we know where you stand, most are largely indifferent, and I'm the seventh "vote" for 24 hours but that's not a strong preference. And 48 hours is the default, so if there's some heretofore silent contingent that prefers it then we'd keep it that way.

Tony, are you up for two drafts on the 27th? Assuming it's not too big a deal for anyone on the West Coast, we can schedule Firehouse for noon then (shouldn't take more than 2.5 hours).

I don't think anyone will hold that against you, Joe. It's an online draft, after all.

i reek like marijuana a lot

As far as being a grinder, I'm not trying to gain some competitive advantage here...you're giving me a little bit too much credit. I'm just impatient, and think it's the longest/biggest waste of two full days when we've never had issues with trades going through. We all have reasons for making the deals we make, and if it was soooo egregious that it just reeked of scandal, I think it would be obvious within the 24hr window. I just like getting my new guys, and figured other owners did too.
-
Sun 27th should work for me...although I do think we need to lock something in here soon, otherwise it's only a matter of time before suddenly another conflict arises with a date. Also, if we decided to flip the switch to 24hrs for trades, why are we potentially considering the other way now. Thought we had 7? Not sure what the prob with 24hrs is anyway...never seen any shadiness in this league in the past...do trades really need to be analyzed for 48hrs? Does anyone really do that?
-
I saw April 2nd was suggested. April 2nd may be tough for me. My bachelor party is March 30-April 3. I am free the 26th and 27th all day and 28th/29th after 5pm Central.
-
Good question, and the answer is all times Eastern (Daylight Time, after this weekend). To reiterate, in season auctions remain at 48 hours (bc they must) and as of now we're going with 24 hour review on trades. Please, those who have not voiced your preference on these matters should do so and perhaps I will waffle and flip flop to 48 hours for trade review and switch it back.
-
I can draft whenever. Prefer to leave transactions at 48 hours. Excited to start the season.
-
I have another draft at 3 central on the 27th.
Sorry for two posts
-
What time zone for 2pm?
-
We can also push the draft back a week to April 2nd, same time, and get in before Ramadan for any observant Musselmen (if not our Orthodox and Catholic friends, who will likely be grumpy on their Lenten fasts).
-
I can serve as the 7th for 24 hour trades and will flip that switch now... happy to move the draft to 2pm on the 27th if no one pipes up with a conflict. I believe we have some night shift workers here and thus an evening draft might not work, so if anyone can confirm some sort of maximum on time of day then that would be helpful. So it may be an option, perhaps, but my recollection is that it likely is not. I did draft at work one year... desk jobs are great for that.
-
I’m good with the 24 hr as well…and any way we could do draft at night time or on Sunday? I will be on an airplane at 2 pm on March 26
-
And I think most are aware, but note that Kevin is a grinder extraordinaire. While I sympathize with your desire for a briskness of pace, there are leagues for that and ottoneu is not one of them. Leisurely hustle, if you'll allow that particular oxymoron? And apparently the Yankees are going to allow Guggenheim to outbid them for Freddie... tsk tsk. If George were alive...
-
Tis true, the 48 hour in-season auction clock is fixed. Take complaints on that over to the Community and petition overlord Niv, who will misdirect any assertions that this site is anything other than fantasy baseball Netflix when challenged on his excessive fee taking... er, what was I saying? Right, that can't be changed but trade review can be bumped to 24 hours. By my count, we have five assenting. If we can get seven then I'll flip that particular switch.
-
I'm good with the draft date and 24 hour transactions.
-
Current draft date works for me. As for the in-season auctions, I’m not sure there is a 24 hour option. I prefer it this way as it give me some extra time to dig into the nominated players, adjust bids, etc. I’m good with the trade processing window shrinking to a day.
-
I didn't see Chris say anything about moving transactions from 48 to 24 hours, but id be in favor of that too. fine ether way.
-
Any draft date works for me.
-
March 26th works for me. I am also indifferent about the processing window. I am fine with either 24 or 48 hours.
-
is it really the end of the world...I'm sure we all have a time or two over the years. Not to mention that most of the time owner's aren't all biding on a player anyway...there will only people a few, and sometimes no one else bidding. Do we really need to wait a full 48 hours for these transactions...many of which most won't even bid on and/or give a rip about. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Lets get this passed, ultimately I think most of you would enjoy getting your new guys faster.
-
"connectability" do we really need to wait that long...and we've never had issues with people doing shady things with trades, nor would I expect that from this group. Also, judging by people replying to trade offers, email messages, posts, etc (and also viewing an owner's "last site visit") I think most people visit the site/check their phone/email etc. within 24hrs in season. Plenty of time to see a "pending trade" or an auction up for grabs. And if you miss out
-
I'm fine with keeping the auction on the 26th. If everyone already had that date in the back of their mind, why mess with a good thing...before you know it we'll open a new can of worms. Also, I was wondering if anyone was interested in putting up a shorter trade processing and auction window (24 hrs vs 48)...nothing worse than waiting that 48hours (especially after making a deal) to get your new guys and making roster adjustments. I mean in this day in age, with people's constant connectabil
-
Indeed, it is (or soon enough, at least, given the lack of an ST schedule). So, gentlemen, does ~ two weeks strike you all as a reasonable amount of time for transactions to settle so that we can get things rolling in the Firehouse for 2022? Or, do we want to try to push this back another week? And, more importantly, is Freddie Freeman a Yankee within the next 24 hours?
