We have a great league boys. Greg, Blake, Bennett and Austin make this league what it is. They continuously put up numbers year in and year out, which makes it even more fun. To the newcomers, I hope you enjoyed the process and if it’s any proof that rebuilding works, it took me 3 years to build my team. Restocking is kinda fun and rebuilding was a nice challenge. Baseball is the best. Enjoy the postseason gents! Go Dodgers!
-
Good season men! Congrats top 3. Three teams cracking 19k is no joke. I'm Short was 10th in Fangraph Points on the Global Leaderboard. He completely dominated this league. Nice work!!
-
Seriously. I feel awful about my comment last night Blake. You do make it fun. This league is awesome because it seems everyone is invested. If you guys want to send me packing, I will understand. I don't normally say stuff that makes me look a fool. Again, I apologize.
-
Sorry for the last post. I had way too much to drink yesterday!
I like this league. Slow Ball, i truly apologize!
-
ELE reminds me of Busta Rymes.
Slow Ball, you make it not fun. You pretend you are all in, but if you have a bad draft... it's all over.
-
ELE... Everybody Love Everybody
no more negative comments on here from anyone (including me)... this is a fun, positive league with smart baseball peoples
-
1400 haha.. definitely something the 10th place team should be posting to brag about. If only he had grabbed Derrick Rodriguez a few weeks back 😜
-
So what am I supposed to do when every single one of my pitchers went on the DL this season

1400 was innings limit la flams to not have to pay extra money, he hit that.
-
Wtf are you talking about? You missed all of your games and innings limits.
-
With no help from you La Flama, I hit my innings mark with a strong Saturday.
No extra $$ coming from me this season. Boo ya!
-
Looking towards next year...I need to know by this Sunday at 10:00 pm who is planning on not returning to the league next year. I know a few have talked about leaving mid year, but please send me another message to confirm you are not returning. If I don't get a message from you by this Sunday at 10, I'm just going to assume you would like to play in the league next year. We will operate 100% under normal Ottoneu rules this off-season.

Yeah, hopefully next year. I think I have a good core. We shall see.
(My last reply to Slow Ball, wasn't meant to be rude. If it was taken that way, I apologize.)

Man, brutal crowd today lol

Bummer this season didn’t work out for you Lickety...

Gotcha. Bummer it didn't work out for you.
-
he was supposed to start against the marlins but then news came out right before the auction ended that he would move to the bullpen... plus he was already a $1 cap hit for me so picking him up saved me $1... cutting him again just puts me back to square one with a $1 cap hit... your cap hits that cost $1 that you can reauction are essentially free...no money lost, no dollar wasted all for what was supposed to be a marlins stream start...careful stepping to someone that’s smart...
-
So... you know you messed up since you are not explaining why. Figured it out!
-
between my finishes of 1st, 2nd, 4th, 1st, and 2nd... i think there’s a pretty good reason why the events unfolded the way they did with dereck... i’ll let you figure it out...
-
Slow ball, did you really waste a dollar on Dereck? You already dropped him for a dollar. Unless I am mistaken, it is worthless to auction a guy that is only worth a dollar that you already dropped at that cost.
-
Terrific year. Big thanks to Austin for being on top of everything. It is not easy to be commish. I hope next year is just as exciting. Can’t wait for playoff baseball coming up!
-
Totally agree. I think this year has been the most enjoyable year thus far (Even though my pitching has failed me the last month and a half). More activity has definitely made the auctions and trade blocks more interesting and has allowed even the bottom teams to hang on for a rebuild longer. Let's keep it up next year!
-
Overall, I think we should be very happy with the involvement in the league this year. It's pretty crazy to go back to previous years to see the amount of improvement in 2019. To add to that, Ottoneu posted a site-wide ranking in July and our league was the 13th best FGPTS 12 team league on the site (out of 141). If I recall correctly, we were around 70 a few years back. 13th is not easy to do, as there are some great leagues out there. I am looking forward to the rest of this year and beyond.

Hey all, we have about 3 weeks left of the MLB season to go. I just want to remind you of the innings pitched/games played requirements. These requirements are: Catcher: 130 games played OF: 750 games played All other positions: 140 games played 1400 innings pitched If your team fails to meet any of these requirements by the end of the year, you will have to pay a fee equal to $10 multiplied by the final standing of your team. It appears that there are 2-3 teams that are in danger of this.

I am in first, doesn’t mean I can’t state that I don’t like the massive loan feature. I have said this 100 times so not sure my point of “I love this league” has been understood by anyone. And wanting to make the league even more lovable is not a bad thing. I built my team without loaning to anyone, I cut salary, grabbed some young-ins through trades and have placed all 3 years. So again, I just think loans should at least be lowered to where you can’t have $600. My team is barely ab
-
Am I drunk or is the guy in first place with loans mouthing loans? You know what would fix all the crying... 10 keepers in a dynasty league... oh wait. There's nothing wrong with Ottonue guys.. sure HRs are killer right now because of juiced baseballs. I wouldn't be surprised to see scoring adjusted on that by the creator at some point. However, you won't find a better dynasty league structure. If you don't like it, you're the problem and should play in a free ESPN redraft league next year.
-
So I think the last part of my message got cut off. I just wanted to say I may not always get along with you all as owners, but I wanted to say We Still <3 You Guys.
-
i’m short - yes, in order to win ottoneu you have to take on massive loans... this should leave your team absolutely crippled the next year and way out of contention... the fact this doesn’t happen to the winning team speaks volumes to the other owners in the league
-
to next year. Nonkeeper leagues offer no incentive to trade assets if your season is over and normal dynasty keeper leagues have to trade players for players to get trades done. In Ottoneu, $ becomes another asset and gives the advantage to losing teams to help them rebuild. Finally, without loans or player $ certain players would never get traded. In my other 2 other keeper leagues, no one would every give up Trout or Scherz. Ottoneu gives owners the opportunity to acquire any player they want.
-
First off I think you are just wanting a league that does not have $ attached to players. That's fine, I'll go back to what I said "Ottoneu maybe isn't for everyone." Second, we need loans because our teams are near a max salary, so for trades to work you're not only asking to match up talent value but also match up $ so that teams stay under salary cap. Third, loans keep every team active even if they are in last place. By allowing anyone to trade their unused talent or $ they can hel
-
I bet in the 7 years in this league no team has won without receiving a big loan or 2. Would be way more fun to see people win without receiving money.
-
Catching up on all of this, but yes smart owners should not pay way over value for prospects but these expensive prospects that just got out of auction keep getting moved for current studs players so you never know what owners will agree to. It also takes a month to reauction a player you cut so it's a slow grind to get your money back and you don't have that money to bid earlier in the season. Also you all have broadcast that strategy to owners who had no idea they could do that haha
-
explain to me why we don’t need definitions of market efficiency for ottoneu when we want to take away loans? honest question
-
But you shouldn’t be able to cut a guy and get him for half price and eventually get it to where you only have $1 invested toward him. I don’t think we need definitions on market efficiency, this isn’t that deep haha
-
just a fun food for thought opinion on the ottoneu economics for your sunday night :)
-
eventually most all players will converge on their average price across all ottoneu leagues... definition of market efficiency from investopedia lol Market efficiency refers to the degree to which market prices reflect all available, relevant information. If markets are efficient, then all information is already incorporated into prices, and so there is no way to "beat" the market because there are no under- or overvalued securities available.
-
another way of looking at the cutting players and getting money back if they are picked up... 1) it’s an incentive to stay active and participate.. the advantage is there for all 12 owners to get a few dollars back every 30 days and 2) it creates market efficiencies.. if i don’t want a player at $16 but someone does want them at $8, then it makes you think twice about cutting them.. otherwise there’d be a whole stack of FAs that could never be picked up if that guy was still $16 after bein
-
Honestly really? At $7 I wouldn't trade for him. Salary was a reason I passed on some trades. When players are 4+ over their value, I tend to abstain so I can use that value elsewhere.
-
haha i know! prospects are going for insane amounts! i think everybody is just playing defense tho since they know they can trade any and all prospects at any time
-
$7 for a guy in rookie ball? I will def make sure to use my arbitration $$'s on him over the offseason. :) haha
-
I bitch about the draft experience every year. Ask Gregg. I don't understand how they don't have a good search function of available players. I love the auction part!
I agree with I'm Short about how you could buy a player for $16 and then add/drop them 3 times in a season and get half your money back. It is annoying to me.
Loans on trades I have no issue with.
Ottoneu is where I like playing. Especially with an entire league who is involved. I'm just airing my grievences is all :)
-
While we’re at it can we make it so that homeruns aren’t the only thing that matters in the league

Idk about all the elements haha. I think being able to drop guys and get all but $1 back on them is a bit dumb and giving out $300 worth of loans isn’t great, but every other feature is terrific. So just complaining about some minor problems that have allowed for me and you to be in first, that’s all. But hey I’m cool with whatever the league wants.
-
I'm not trying to be bent out shape, and I'm sorry if I've come across that way. I just don't understand why you'd play in a format and then try to change all of the elements of that format. To me it just sounds like you want to play in a regular ol' snake draft dynasty league except it focuses on player independent scoring. With no auction, arbitration, or loans, players don't move and it gets stagnant. Ottoneu is not designed for league customization so if its features are not for everyone.
-
Yeah same, love the league, just think some minor changes should be made (if possible). That’s all.
